It took me a long time to go from being depressed and creeped out by this type of dark atmosphere to being able to find a sense of beauty and peace in it. I think my past has just desensitized me to darkness and the reactive fear it provokes. I now look at darkness as a sense of tranquility and even art. I think it's why I tend to gravitate towards more melancholic games, books, movies, music, etc. I love that sense of sadness and darkness that's just *there.* Not sadness from loss or anything. Or darkness from emotional/mental battles. Just melancholic stillness that suggests that there was once life and brightness; however, that has all crumbled away and all that is left is darkness and peace.
I see dark atmospheres as the 'truth'. It isn't simply there to frighten you. It is a reminder of our morality, and the peace that comes with accepting it's inevitable arrival. Coming to terms with many things that aren't sugar-coated and sunny is what ironically gives me more appreciation for life.

You truly feel your footprint here ... and in the silence, you may yet feel the peace of what will remain when it is gone. After all, they finished the human race before you did. 'Twould be foolish to join them all too soon, however -- your steps, your voice, your presence; do they carry any reverence or meaning yet? ... As he stood in the building that we were working on, I realized I was now alone. What was alarming , is that it was a Friday! and the weather,.... was it going to rain like this all night and weekend? He was so cold and wet, everyone scattered , cause of the anticipation of the weekend. Would my roommates come looking for him? The short ex con clearly set him up for this , when he said he wouldn't latch the door.........; when he was trying to get the job done right , trying to dot his eyes and cross his tees , cause of the recent lecture from the forman, this was his typical behavior/situation for the first couple of weeks on every new job, being that he was a African American , in 1945 in Alabama . He really needed the job. He screamed and yelled for help, over and over, for hours. His last and only chance was to grab the nearest 2x4 , and ram the large double doors of the hotel, as if he was storming a castle in the dark ages, but from the inside out. He ramned it reapedeatly , for hours , even screaming at the same time, in order to get someones' attention. After we recovered the body from the wet floor; we played back the film to see the what really happened. As we played back the film we could see the hypothermia slowly kicking in, unfortunately for him it wasn't terribly cold , and it set in slowly and gradual probably 45-50 degrees while being rained on and standing in water. Every so often he would get out of the puddle he was sitting in and try the aforementioned again, with less strength of course, he did less and less , until his strength was next to nothing, and he finally decided to lay down and nap in the water, on the second day, shivering violently , until he fell asleep for his very last time; as a police officer it was my job , to watch the video to find out what happened, and I must say , because of the length of time he was locked in, combined with the wet, and mildly low temperatures, it made the whole situation , to fold out painstakingly slow. I even had to speed up the film , cause it was so slow; it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do in my career.
The unsettling melodies and spine-tingling harmonies in this piece make it a perfect fit for any horror-themed project. I could easily see this being used in a scene where the protagonist is slowly realizing they're not alone in the house, or where they're being chased by an unknown entity. The music amplifies the fear factor and makes it impossible to look away.
This is a masterpiece. It helps me to write and is on the top of my playlist while working on a book. It captures the atmosphere perfectly. Absolutely stunning 🖤
Beautiful, yet sad. Like a memory of a place and time that was, and that never will be again. Makes me love the nightmares, for the real pain is emotional and fear only distracts me from it.
These playlists have been helping me get through some pretty rough and dark personal times and has oddly put me back on my spiritual path. The music is melancholic but beautiful and gets me in a headspace where I can concentrate and work things out. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a binural beat of some sort mixed into these. I feel scared. But I also feel relaxed. Sometimes it's okay to feel low. Sometimes it's okay to feel alone. If you're feeling it, there's probably a reason that you need to feel it.
It's been a year since you posted this comment, but I wanted to pop in and say I love this sentiment. Aural sounds are really important to me, and silence can actually be stressful. Having music that is non-vocal and unchaotic is vital for my brain to finally stop thinking. Tho in my case, I'm actually listening to this as mood music while I reread The Turn of the Screw 😁
I'm so happy this got posted. Not going to lie, Atrium Carceri is extraordinary. I was constantly listening to the Dark Choir and Cathedral mix until I found this. I was also wondering when something like that would be released again, you lot read my mind!
There is something very Dragon Age about this. Very sad but hopeful, terrible but good, damaged but alive. It's the kind of world you can live in but never fully love. It isn't Skyrim or The Galaxy. More like DnD or Middle Earth during the Third Age. The type of place filled with hope and life, but also death, sadness, anger, and danger.
Since everyone is praising about the music, allow me say sth about the cover pic it matches perfectly with the vibe of this apocalyptic grande church scene, it’s so inspiring especially when you’re doing creative writing
This is beautiful, I can imagine sitting by a bonfire I made in a deserted cathedral. Of course, that thought was inspired by Dark Souls, but still, I find myself coming back to this many times because of just how much more developed the music is, yet it still retains the classic motif found in this channel, of ambiguity. To be honest, most ambience found in this channel is almost swallowed by ambiguity. I can get why some people can appreciate that type of ambience. It's calm, and there's not much going on. But, I appreciate ambience like this because it balances its overcoming ambiguity with ghoulish bewilderment. It sounds more like an environment where we can fathom its features. All this and more because the picture along with compilation of music for abandoned churches and cathedrals gives us some context as to what this environment around us is. Truly amazing job with this.
This is the music I hear in my head whenever I'm dreaming. I only sleep to either ambient sounds or very low volume music. This makes me feel very nostalgic. Thank you. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I don't know how I could be living my life without knowing this channel. Every time I check my feed a new amazing recommendation of this channel delights my day. Who ever owns it you're my hero. This is my new favorite channel of all time.
Your party enters a large Cavern, 50 feet in front of you, you see a golden key lying on the ground gleaming. When you look up you see movement on the ceiling. The slightest sound will bring them down. Damn it, we should have brought a thief...
This music causes me to relax COMPLETELY. I know it's supposed to be dark but this music makes me hella happy and calm. Thank you so much for making this channel. I love all the artwork that goes with these videos aswell!
It's like the Monks long gone in ages past, still chanting within the ruins of their Monasteries. My imaginations dictates that the walls of abandoned or ruins of Monasteries still reverberates with the chanting of the Monks.
It’s kinda nice here. I arrived here 6 days ago. It was a tad spooky when I first looked out, but I’ve since adapted. It’s quiet, gives me time to think and read. As I write this I am staring out the window. It looks to be autumn. I should probably describe what I’m looking at. Outside of my home, there seems to be some amount of old structures. I don’t know why I keep on getting sent to these kinds of places at these kinds of times, but I live with it. The structures kinda reminded me of several churches I’ve been in, but whoever built these things left a while ago. I saw someone here yesterday, dressed in what looked to be a brightly colored jacket. They waved; I waved back; they left. I think they set up camp nearby.
The music is haunting...with a hint of mystery and much darkness. It is amazing how you are able to intertwine these feelings and yet, still make them so soothing and inviting even. Excellent job. Thank you.
My life is no worse than anyone else's, but beyond the insanity that is 2020 this has been the loneliest year for me. This music perfectly reflects how I feel inside.
As I stood amidst the chaos The utter ruin of my castle So carefully built and tended My solemn cheeks freshly Awash with the liquid of loss All I’ve known has ended A shadow cast from antiquity Weaves the stitching of iniquity Suturing the wound with anger Insidiously I lie in wait My fervent hope as bait To trap this newborn stranger I must not concede defeat No not one inch nor feet Instead reset and regain That which is all in all Mine to be when I call Stand and remove every Last vestige of pain
This mix seriously helped inspire me to build way better structures in Minecraft. My brother and I have this weird bit where one of us builds a "haunted" world and follow the other under an invisibility potion. Typically we put on the stomach-dropping cave sounds on repeat but this playlist has so much character and a level of eerieness that this will kick it. I'm thinking of a broken cathedral in the middle of a swamp biome but has an underground system of catacombs.
"Old ruins" :that's how I would describe my high school... Edit:without knowing I have spend my last day at the high school, and now I feel so bad about that... Thx corona for fucking my senior year.... Don't forget guys, cherish what u have before they dissapear...
I am feeling this. :-) I was doing stuff in my room with this playing. I kept thinking oh I like this soundscape, it's one that has one more test. If I'm sleeping with this playing and I don't have nightmares, it's perfect and I will test it tonight. :-)
Love this dude! Great albums and great mixes for CryoChamber! Not just pointless depressing drone. It is musical, a journey of darkness and all things alternative and otherworldly!
I thought it was “in the beginning there was the earth”? Which would also be inspiring since the earth is just, the earth. Both light and dark. Lol maybe I’m wrong tho
@@arsonhycan 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the Earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. KJV
Just imagine listening to this and then picturing a cathedral smothered in fire! Because that's what I'm picturing as I listen to this. Particularly Empty Chapel! Because that's my favourite of the bunch.
The melody of the track at 35:07 kind of reminds me of the neurax worm from plague inc. I know it's a bit of a stretch, just wanted to say I love that track!!
Empty Chapel is one of my favorite tracks, period. It sounds melancholic but at the same time optimistic. It's foreboding but it feels like there's a promise of salvation. A really weird combination I like and which is way too rare. I cannot, for the life of me, find enough themes with the same kind of vibe of benevolent malevolence.
20:02 - "The air used to be crisp, now it itches. A red sky was passionate, not desolate. The shivers that travelled down my spine used to be at the thought of you. It was your touch that set the world alight. But your eyes dimmed in time with Gaia, her last cry a blight upon my world. I have known the scorching heat and numbing cold, endless hunger and echoing void too. Living was not a burden until the empty grave."
One of the best compilations of yours I've listened to. I'm plotting out my short story for a comic and this has helped me stay focused and in the right mindset for it. Amazing tracks and even better together.
Holy shit. i just had a terrible dream. I was listening the dark ambient music like this. And My family came home, so i took off my earphone. i was welcoming my family. But there was something strange. The music was still heard on my ear. I checked my ear. There were earphones. so i was ' oh! i'm an idiot!' and i took off it. After that, i was talking with my brother. From the certain point, a little noise appeared and is getting louder and louder. That noise sounds like music i heard a few minutes ago. As if it blocked my ear, i couldn't hear my brother. It continued to be heard even without the earphones, and i had to found another solution. But the play button and the power button of phone didnt work either. And I found download marks on the phone screen. It was downloading all of the musics of 'Dark Ambient music mix'. 'yeah that was the reason. Downloading too many files has made phone crashed, so buttons didnt work!'. I stop the download and deleted every files. I felt relief while i saw the files being removed. However, the music never left my ear. Still, I could hear nothing but only that fuking music! I felt as if the music has been with me from the beginning. And i felt that this cosmic, horrible music would be forever until i died. My mind was shattered. I felt my mental broken. At that time, i opened my eyes. i saw this mix is playing on my mac. there was earphone on my ear. I took off it, and i could feel silence. So im enjoying this peacefulness of quietness.
Möonrose Rosemöon Magical Drawings thank you for ur interpretation. That's interesting! Actually i was writing something like scenario for next competition . So I played this music mix to immerse the story. Although that dream was horrible, I luv that point of dreaming. Dream can be horrible or beautiful randomly. yah, i luv that randomness of it. Cuz it is the randomness that makes our life more interesting.
Didn't have exactly the same thing, but woke up with the sensation of having possessions on me like a pen, scarf, and a bucket. Not sure why, but neat nonetheless.
Damn, i slept with earphones in few weeks ago and had almost same dream about music playing in my head. But there also was heroin and sleepeng (while already sleeping). That was the day i was really afraid to go to bed
The low, almost bass tone was the lowest key on an organ, they are so deep that you can barely hear them, instead you can feel them. So great they are, that they consume the already sparse cries of the piano.

This tiny text is to be combined with the first song. While my grandmother was knitting woolen socks, the chair sizzled with her swings. I've never seen her look so thoughtful. Her blond locks, almost white, floated in the light wind that came through the window. The front blinds of the kitchen fanned. Distracted by my observations, the sound of the television became a noise, a language I did not recognize. Outside it was cloudy and the dust that came in through the window, passing through my grandmother's hair, stood out in pieces big enough to see from a distance, thanks to the sunset light. I never saw the sun completely. But if it weren't for my grandmother to describe it and even draw it, I would never know that the Sun, that light hidden in the gray clouds, could be that way. Or even that it existed, and that his name is Sun. "Stars" she said. "They're pretty. They are white and shiny dots, they seem even small and round openings in that darkness of Space. As if there were several exits. ” The television sound was still inaudible. But it was no longer because of my distraction. The signal was lost. Please, continue...
So glad I came across this song while listening to Exploring Series reading on an SCP article. His work is great but, the ambience your work provides along with, is such a perfect combo of mystery, and gives a such an amazing vibe of dark esotericism that is befitting of an SCP Article. I hope your work goes a long way.
What if I'm all depressed 24/7 because I force myself to be a person that I'm not made to be? Since some years ago a feeling of love to this kind of world, to the dark world, has grown inside me, but the face that I use to show to people everyday is a kind face, a happy face, a face of a supportive human, a flash of light... But, when I'm all alone I feel just... dark.
Seeing all the comments from all over the world tells me one thing: unlike politics, music brings all races and colours together as one. How I wish the world would be this united. ❤️ I hope music will do that. Nice music

Stooping down, a figure looks

halting for a brief inquest
A pack rattles and lay

Ditto. What's your book about?
yeah what is it about/ is it out?
I want to be a happier person, yet retain my love of the darkness
It's possible.
I know what you mean and i'm christian.
If it makes you so happy...
Happiness is fleeting and during periods of darkness, art like this is cathartic
I love the dark & am happy in its enclosure.
Beautiful, yet sad. Like a memory of a place and time that was, and that never will be again. Makes me love the nightmares, for the real pain is emotional and fear only distracts me from it.
this is both terrifying and comforting. it's like getting the warmest and softest back hug even though you could swear you were alone
I feel like I’m walking through an old draconian castle. I’m not frightened but curious and the stunning music is drawing me deeper!!
I started listening to it with speakers, two minuts in I was already looking for my headphones. Very well put. I feel the soul behind it.
How are you doing now after a year? Hope all is well with you.
Listening to this while reading Berserk manga is a priceless experience. Thanks Cryo.
I agree that it sets the mood when reading i read to this no matter what i'm reading.
Music like this tells a story without using a single word. Magnificient.
I'm so happy this got posted. Not going to lie, Atrium Carceri is extraordinary. I was constantly listening to the Dark Choir and Cathedral mix until I found this. I was also wondering when something like that would be released again, you lot read my mind!
reading Spinoza while listening this : very helpful.
Thank you.
I would've gone with Dark Souls, but that works too.
When I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought of Dragon Age too.
U have too much hope maybe
Im gonna play Dragon Age Origins again :D
It is a great game.
Since everyone is praising about the music, allow me say sth about the cover pic it matches perfectly with the vibe of this apocalyptic grande church scene, it’s so inspiring especially when you’re doing creative writing
Atrium Carceri always with the bangers
I'm definitely using this as background music for my Eldritch themed D&D campaign.
So eerie, dark, and somber. Yet amazingly beautiful. Cryochamber never fails to amaze me
I'm really loving this one . Especially when that violin kicks in about halfway through then fades into more piano, just perfect.
I wish i could play this when i'm in Astral... Imagine having the full experience of going to temples with this music in the back
This is beautiful, I can imagine sitting by a bonfire I made in a deserted cathedral.
The first three songs on here will always be in my top spots for ambient ❤❤❤
Nothing like contemplating my own darkness while listening to another amazing assortment of dark tracks. Thank you for this!
Your party enters a large Cavern, 50 feet in front of you, you see a golden key lying on the ground gleaming. When you look up you see movement on the ceiling. The slightest sound will bring them down. Damn it, we should have brought a thief...
Barbarian: I'm gonna munch... I'm gonna crunch!
Bard: Dy'all mind if I just... shush?
*Overeager knight tries to sneakily clank around in full plate*
Wizard:Yeah ignore me and the fact that i can get everyone out of here with a single spell
This music causes me to relax COMPLETELY. I know it's supposed to be dark but this music makes me hella happy and calm. Thank you so much for making this channel. I love all the artwork that goes with these videos aswell!
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome.

Saint John 😇
Listening to this right now. I have a test 6 hours later. Studies can wait for now
It's like the Monks long gone in ages past, still chanting within the ruins of their Monasteries.
This totally stimulated 30 minutes of deep DnD lore for my campaign. Thank youz
The music is haunting...with a hint of mystery and much darkness. It is amazing how you are able to intertwine these feelings and yet, still make them so soothing and inviting even. Excellent job. Thank you.
Listened to this as the skies grew dark with nightfall and a light rain fell with heat lightning in the distance.....was awesome.😔
There isn’t enough superlatives to describe how brilliant this creation is, a truly masterful piece of art from beginning to end.
My life is no worse than anyone else's, but beyond the insanity that is 2020 this has been the loneliest year for me. This music perfectly reflects how I feel inside.
This is probably my favorite one so far tbh
As I stood amidst the chaos
The utter ruin of my castle
So carefully built and tended
My solemn cheeks freshly
Awash with the liquid of loss
All I’ve known has ended
A shadow cast from antiquity
Weaves the stitching of iniquity
Suturing the wound with anger
Insidiously I lie in wait
My fervent hope as bait
To trap this newborn stranger
I must not concede defeat
No not one inch nor feet
Instead reset and regain
That which is all in all
Mine to be when I call
Stand and remove every
Last vestige of pain
@Þórfinnr Karlsefni Þórðarson Away with you, imbecile.
Mondfinsterniss ich spanne meine Muskeln an und erzeuge damit ein KokstickerBuiss
Bah! I thought it was excellent poetry. I'm afraid I do not know the author. Was it you?
J.T. Harrison yes it was! I was drinking that night and reflecting on my life a bit
Wow.... Both unique, creepy and it brings you an image in mind with a dark atmosphere.....10/10

@A.J. 232737 for what?
"the great order of things" is really something else... it is so spine chilling...
I am feeling this. :-) I was doing stuff in my room with this playing. I kept thinking oh I like this soundscape, it's one that has one more test. If I'm sleeping with this playing and I don't have nightmares, it's perfect and I will test it tonight. :-)

Used this as study music for 3 years and got a First Class English Literature degree.
Love this dude! Great albums and great mixes for CryoChamber! Not just pointless depressing drone. It is musical, a journey of darkness and all things alternative and otherworldly!
Your name 😆
A heart less darkened is incredible. The vampire hidden in a haunted castle vibe this whole video gives off is absolutely stunning
The bible speaks beautifully from the start...
_"In the beginning there was darkness."_
Dark Souls' universe started this way, too.
@@Hristaquis that says a lot
I thought it was “in the beginning there was the earth”? Which would also be inspiring since the earth is just, the earth. Both light and dark. Lol maybe I’m wrong tho
Actually, "in the beginning there was the Word."
@@arsonhycan 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the Earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. KJV
I listen to this every morning. Thank you
Walking in a dark forest by night, while listen to this masterpiece is so beautiful!
As much as I would love to do this, I am very wary of being alone somewhere without the ability to hear what is going on around me.
@@raksh9 It took me a lot of time that I can do this but I got fearless! My mind got stable, and I'm really thankful that I took this step!

Just imagine listening to this and then picturing a cathedral smothered in fire! Because that's what I'm picturing as I listen to this. Particularly Empty Chapel! Because that's my favourite of the bunch.
This is super comforting? Like being under a cozy weighted blanket.
This is really awesome. I am talking seriously. That picture is a masterpiece. HUGE LIKE from Italy with Love,Cryos! :-*
Check out Atrium Carceri - Reunion
That toilet paper commercial in the middle of this set is straight fire!
I listen to this while painting
Flowers for bodysnatchers - A heart less darkened is so beautiful. Just keep on going back to that song. Perfect!
This music makes writing a paper for school so much nicer. I feel like I can focus on it.
I think this mix is one of my favorites...
Möonrose Rosemöon Magical Drawings
thank you for ur interpretation.
Not sure why, but neat nonetheless.
thats a cool dream.
Damn, i slept with earphones in few weeks ago and had almost same dream about music playing in my head. But there also was heroin and sleepeng (while already sleeping). That was the day i was really afraid to go to bed
Реликтовый Герой lmao! me too, i was afraid to go to bed rly
The first song is one of the most beautifully lonely pieces I've ever heard.
The low, almost bass tone was the lowest key on an organ, they are so deep that you can barely hear them, instead you can feel them. So great they are, that they consume the already sparse cries of the piano.
I could spend a lifetime exploring such things
This singlehandedly annihilated my writer’s block, thank you ♡

Perfect music for my Endless Space 2 session. Its great music. The harmony at 20:00 is melting. good work.

I don't know how I found this music via TH-cam algorithms, but perhaps it was through Dark-Techno, and then Dark-Ambient videos I watched. Absolutely amazing music! Genre I did not know existed!
Im falling asleep to dark ambient gothic sounds when suddenly I hear "SLIDERS ARENT BURGERS, SLIDERS COME IN PAIRS, AND THEY COME IN PAIRS! IN LIFE, THERE ARE SLIDERS, AND THERE ARE BURGERS..." and I suddenly burst into uncontrollable tears
well did you try them.
I find sliders coming in pairs very emotionally moving as well.
this is exactly what I was trying to find.... its just amazing!... best music ever!!
Masterpiece of Dark Ambient
this type of music heals me, it soothes my spirit in ways I cannot put into words
The television sound was still inaudible.
Great mix of instruments and sounds
the ambient noises are so creepy but also so relaxing in combination with the piano, its ingenious
Another great upload as usual,im so glad to have found this genre
There is a really good mix of sadness and yet calmness in the tracks! Awesome!
But, when I'm all alone I feel just... dark.
Another great upload from Cyro Chamber. Love the dark ambient..
This what you hear when walking around in one of the Imperium's cites in the middle of the night.
Seeing all the comments from all over the world tells me one thing: unlike politics, music brings all races and colours together as one. How I wish the world would be this united. ❤️ I hope music will do that. Nice music
_They say a temple is never more precious than when it lays in ruin, its priests splayed like broken dolls over the rubble. They say the gods are never closer to their flock than when its blood runs thick over hallowed ground, idols lay shattered and zealous pleas run on the winds. Then the divine stir._
I love the visual art with the music.. it has a yarnahm vibe from bloodborne.
