Those parts cleaned up nicely, and it was generous of your partner to let you use their toothbrush.😂
Thank you! And right?! I use my old electric toothbrush these days to scrub paint off. Super efffective!
Great videos Jordan. Thanks for the shout out. Glad the CA is working. I would use both CA and regular model glue depending on the application. Also, for large areas, I would recommend Testors "red tube" glue. Holds great and bonds as well or better than the liquid glues.
Oh me and my glue habits... not sniffing... I swear. LOL.
Bonding metal to plastic (on figures or with PE), I've always used superglue but I've never used it for the regular model building instead of the thicker Revell plastic glue or the Tamiya extra thin. I've got to admit, I do prefer the longer working time.
What's your experience? Pros vs Cons?
Also, that piece came out really clean after the IPA. (I've strained mine through a coffee filter so I don't end up with older flakes staining the model or getting into the nooks and crannies where they're hard to get out of.)
I've had some ups and downs with the CA so far. I really like the bonding time (I prefer quicker times as I have carpal tunnel and hate holding the parts together for too long), but if you have to separate the parts after they have bonded, you have to clean up the CA vs the Tamiya Extra Thin. So far, its a mixed bag and may employ both, depending on the model and situation.
I, apparently have a knack for removing paint off of a model using IPA. LOL. LOTS of practice over the last few weeks.
Thanks, @@Aligning_The_Stars
The other day I just learned the hard way that soaking a plastic model in IPA is fine -- except for the resin parts CAed onto it; they also soaked it up and it now looks like they've exploded from within. Replacements set me back a few €$ but that's okay for a lesson learned for the future.
