I definitely heard a citywokcitywall Mars reference. You should tie Marble Mountain with his Mars series. Don't know how, but it'll be cool no matter how you do it
The "illusion of size" you talk about is really there and it really felt like you were driving into a sizeable city when the skyline appeared! One thing though, this perspective made it really apparent how dark it is on some areas of the highway at night. If that sort of light level and lack of markings was irl, there'd be at least 10 crashes per day on that segment.
The German Autobahn is completely unlit at night and we drive at 120mph+. Less accidents compared to most other countries, so nope not 10 crashes a day.
@imwtheproducer wow this is the best example of fake news. Look ist up, there are around 20k accidents on the Autobahn per year www.destatis.de/DE/Themen/Gesellschaft-Umwelt/Verkehrsunfaelle/Tabellen/polizeilich-erfasste-unfaelle.html;jsessionid=7CF2B1C19990F0CAFB61520FC462A692.internet8741

Oh how I wish I had a VR headset! In all seriousness though, you absolutely nailed the highway approaches into LA/Bay Area from the mountains, plus the effort to put in all the train, car and radio ambient sound effects. Definitely one of the best videos on TH-cam I've seen in a while!
THE BEST driving cinematic I’ve seen in cities skylines, almost GTA 5 level! Really enjoyed the CityWok Industries advert for mars 🤙🏼. Wish my PC could run this smooth.
As someone who has taken the trip from Bakersfield to LA many, many times-there is a LOT that this team has gotten right, and I think that deserves a lot of praise. The initial mountainous, arid area is very characteristic of the I-5's winding journey through the LA mountains. Well-done. The decorations, road maps, foliage-everything was done well. And the entry into the ficto-LA was also very good as well, with the lights of skyscrapers becoming immediately recognizable. Ignoring some creative liberties that don't find themselves in the real-world from its created analogue, there are a few things which I think are lacking: The first is that as the journey transitions from small mountain pit-stop towns to a sparse semi-suburban setting, there is a lot more green in the scenery than is typically seen year-round. Things are almost always more dead, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the creators of this map if they were limited assets. Secondly, the map transitioned from that sparse suburban into a dense city. Newer development analogous to the San Fernando Valley were almost entirely missing. Again however, tremendous work to all the team, and thank you so much for bringing this to us.
yeah i don't know why but some cities in this game has a GTA V vibe. It could be the color palette. I think 3-4 yrs ago someone created Los Santos in this game
Beautiful and very immersive! Felt like I had actually left my house and taken a little road trip. Nice distraction from our "delightful" reality! Thank you!
Love the "move to Mars, by Wok industires" advert! Lol I think they need to work on the suspension physics a bit. Some of those curves would have flipped it over.
My family goes out to Salt Lake City pretty much every summer and honestly the transition between desert plains and city landscape reminds me of the drive. Keep up the good work
Every time I attempt to make a highly detailed city I get overwhelmed with how much detail work is required, so good on you for having the patience to make this.
This is just epic mate. That shot a 4.40 with the sunset in the background is stunning, the ad to mars was Brilliant. One thing....the shocks on the camper are knackered 😂
I love this! It is very successful in real life travel. I live in Querétaro, a state in Mexico, and we have family in the capital. The terrain we must pass through to visit them is a mostly arid, and when I saw this video I was reminded of those trips that we are stopping doing due to the quarantine. Also at the entrance to the City, or well, to the metropolitan area, there is a great road connection which looks a lot like the one you did when you arrived in town! I don't know if you were inspired by any city, but without a doubt it is the most successful road trip simulation I have ever seen! Stay in that way 😊
That was just a pure joy to watch! From the transitions to the assets and even the radio. That made my morning and gave you a new subscriber. Thanks for that.
I do love the way the cars drive on this game - 05:23 man that things about to topple! Loved the video! Love this sort of content really shows off the city!
This is just gorgeous. I think all the landscapes just work together so well to deliver the sense of scale you were talking about. The drive was only a few minutes, but it felt like it could have been a few hours with the changing scenery and time of day. I noticed that some of your skyscrapers that were POs didn’t have lights - if you wanted to fix that, you could use regular buildings and modify them with (I believe) the Customize It! mod. That would let you turn down noise pollution, etc. in game.
this is amazing, you are underrated. thank you for making this video. it was life-changing.

That was awesome you have a WOK industries add in Marble Mountain! I have never noticed that before but you should totally do a team up and have a WOK industries corporate center built (and maybe the start of a lunch pad area) in the desert! That would be Epic 2.20!! Great video mate! Love this city build so much!
Stephen Butler haha just had an 12 hrs 1100 km trip and watching this 7 minute simulated driving video haha. Its just this magical road, you want it to last forever :)
I just don't understand why the suspension of the cars is so soft, it looks like the car will tip over every corner, in a game like this if the cars had no suspension it wouldn't make any difference, why having that extra work for a result which is not realistic.
Cities:Skylines are meant to be played viewing a city from a distance. Probably to emphasize the turning of vehicles. Somewhat similar to First-person shooter games: even with realistic graphics, the weapons are intentionally emphasized to make them easier to spot.
This is crazy, I'm definitely not familiar with the area but it looks so real. At first before it got to the city I felt as if it was American truck Sim.
This + BeanNG Drive would be the best game of all time Also I don’t know if you intended to perfectly capture the trip down from Mammoth to I5 and down into LA but you did it perfectly.
This needs to be a series and it also needs a final destination. Also a made up dialogue about the life in Cities Skylins would be great. Like from a perspective of someone who lives there about some quirks of a daily life of a cim.
You've outdone yourself on this whole map. It's dazzling! ALSO--would love a video or info of some kind on your computers/specs because I'm doing a new build soon and I can't figure out exactly what I need (emphasize higher ram? faster CPU? more cores?). I think it's exaggerated for visual effect when seeing it from up way above.
I wish there was a mod to let cars smoothly change lanes. Thats by far the most unrealistic thing in CS lol
