    How do you know how far on the motor shaft to put the pinon gear for the correct teeth mesh?

    • @rccustomcreations
      @rccustomcreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To set the pinion on the motor you place the pinion on the shaft and lightly snug the grub screw up so that the pinion can be slid on the shaft but not fall off the shaft if you turn the motor pinion facing the ground,
      Then you gently insert the motor into your gear box and twist the gear box out put shaft untill the motor seats fully onto the mou ting plate. Keep note if you can not seat the motor flush on the plate that your motor output shaft may be too long and may require shortening. If your wer successful with inserting the motor flush with the mounting plate you can now gently remove the motor trying to not pull the pinion off the motor shaft. At this point you will want to push the pinion onto your shaft about 1mm more. Then tighten your grub screw fully.
      If this isn't clear enough then ease let me kkow and I'll do a video on how to do this

    thanks for the vid pal. May I know whats the size of the pinion?

      I just took one of my transmissions apart and the pinion gear is 15 tooth . And comes with the transmission when you purchase these transmissions

      @@rccustomcreations thanks bro. i wanted to try to down size my gearing. not sure which DP or mod 17-18T pinion will fit

      Its not gojng to be easy to change gear ratios. You can not just change the pinion in these transmissions. The three spider gears that rotate around the sungear would also have to be changed . And depending on witch way you went ( taller or shorter gear ratio) you may also have to reloxate the location pins for the spider gears that are required to turn the main shaft in the transmission. If you figurensomething out that works . Let me know , id be interested in knowing

    how good is the 2 speed? i have the single and i like it b ut i want 2 speeds

      So far I love these 2 speed transmission set ups... But there is room for improvement. The motor plate is only bolted into the housing with 2 machine screws, one on the top of the transmission and one on the bottom. This allows for some side to side wiggle play under load wich will upset any gear mesh you have set. (keeping mind that the mesh is not adjustable. On the front of the transmission there is 2 screw holes that are tapped to m3 thread if I recall. If you add a flat washer to a m3 screw X2 and install these into the holes on the left and right of the front transmission ( motor side) after you install the motor plate, then the side to side play dissappears quite a bit and so far is treating me good. This transmission is loved by many but hated by many others.

    Any idea if this transmission will clear the interior of the 87 toyota? Im building a rc4wd toyota with an axial chassis but the stock transmission won’t fit

    • @rccustomcreations
      @rccustomcreations  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can not say for sure if it will fit. Right now i am about a week away from being near any of my scx10 trucks. What i can do when i do get home is give you a measurement to go off of , to give you an idea on how high this sits in the frame. Of that works for you ? I am assuming the toyota body under the hood is low in profile?

      Just wanted to say im very sorry for the delay in responding to your question. I finally got home and was able to try to get your measurments as close as possible. All these measurements were taken on a truck using stock frame rails and are approximate due to the complex set up on these trucks. Of you want pictures to help you better get a idea i have a facebook page . Follow it and message me and ill get photos for you that way .

      Measuring from the front edge of the scx10 ii frame rails to the back of the red servo mount ( servo mount edge furthest to the rear of the truck ) = 124 mm
      Add a couple mm for the servo stick out past the red bracket
      Ad 27 mm to the 124mm for the furthest verticle face on the transmission
      Measuring from the front edge of the frame rails to the face of the 2 speed gear box 81 mm
      Measuring from the top of the front arches of the scx10 ii frame rails to the top of the 2 speed gear box including the red servo bracket 30mm
      My shock hoops are 32 mm high above the top edge of the front frame rail arches and the transmission sits below the shock hoops

    What are the dimensions of the washer? Mine shipped without it. Thanks

    • @rccustomcreations
      @rccustomcreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a very good question, if I get a chance to open a transmission up tonight I will let you know but being honest this is not a regular washer. Have you reached out to injora or the company you bought your set from and let them know that yours is missing? There may have been updates to these transmissions that don't require the washer ( shim) to take up the excess play within the transmission.

      @@rccustomcreations did you find time to check those washer dimensions yet? I have the same issue..bought this chassis a long time ago, it came without the washer too.. I put the gearbox aside because it didn't really work, i think the washer might be the missing link.. or uhh washer ;)

    • @rccustomcreations

      @austintyler5 please forgive me for the late response. I truley did forget to look into the answer ton your question untill i was hit with basheuff5668 question for the same answer. I just took the truck apart to get you guys the answer your looking for.
      The washer is:
      .5mm think
      30mm out side diameter
      13.6mm inside hole diameter
      This is more a shim thennit is a washer so to buy it alone may be impossible. I feel as if these are mass produced for this transmission only.
      BUT .... if your handy with a cumpass for geometry and a dremel tool you can make this part fairly easily . Buy yourself what is called "shim stock at @ .5 mm thick and use a sharp cumpass scribe to make your outside circle at
      30 mm in diameter and get your inside diameter close to 13.5 mm diameter. Do not go smaller then 13.6 mm diameter as you have to allow for room for the pinion gear on your motor to fit into that center hole.
      Also the two holes on the motor side of your transmission that are to the right and left of your motor can. Do yourself a favor and install a small m3 screw with a small washer that is just a bit bugger then your screw head and thread lock those into both holes. This will prevent your motor from pivoting under pressure side to side. The design of these transmissions is a bit flawed where there is a bolt on the top and the bottom holding the gear set and motor in place when they should have had a third or fourth screw to make things flex free
