Spike is one unique vampire, he killed two slayers, he was capable of loving someone without a soul and he fought for a soul to be with Buffy. Angel well Angel was a murderer without his soul, Angel never killed a slayer and Angel didn't fight for a soul he was cursed with one.
Spike was a pure hearted human who craved a little bit of excitement. That is why it is easier for him to show love in his own way but unfortunately without a soul it hard to control the demon part of him that why in season 6 he either breaking or helping buffy. Angel was a good man, too, when he was human, but he was also repulsive. When he became a vampire that all he was repulsive, but when he got a soul, he basically became a good part of his human self.

The relationship between Buffy and Spike is more realistic, I mean in relationships there are ups and downs and secrets. In my opinion Angel and Buffy's relationship was too perfect outside of him losing his soul but Buffy and Spike totally realistic. Spike and Buffy's relationship and how it changes is my favorite couple in Buffy the vampire slayer even though neither one of them said they were a couple but I could just tell they were in love and they were meant to be even when Spike show's up in Angel 19 days after he died saving the world, Spike's first question was "Where's Buffy?"

But also to me, this is the first kiss when she finally accepted her attraction to Spike. So all three kisses are a “first kiss” in different ways lol

So of course it didn’t start working out until season 7. Things started to gradually heal. Spike is one of my favourite characters but Buffy and Spike's relationship was sexual abuse. They managed to become friends in Season 7 and I do think they loved each other but they were still toxic af and suggesting otherwise is disturbing.

Technically they kissed twice before but both of those times they were under spells. The first was in Something Blue, season 4 episode 9. They kissed again in the episode Once More with Feeling, season 6 episode 7. This is from the episode Tabula Rasa which is season 6 episode 8.

Even if you don't like them as a couple, thinking of him as brotherly towards Buffy is all kinds of terrifying, IMO.
