Royal do not have solo cabin, and Norwegian can out with this ideal long time ago. They have solo cabin , nut no balcony and you do not pay double for the cabin.
Yes!! The cruise and travel industry in general need to wake up and cater more to solo travelers. Charging a single supplement is discrimination - plain and simple. Not everyone is a couple. I prefer traveling on my own.
@@cak8132 I agree. There are are many solo travelers and people who are friends of a family who don't want want share a cabin 4 other people! Traveling solo is SO EXPENSIVE and travelers often get a room that has more space than they need but cost a lot of money if they want a balcony or ocean view. I hope solo cabins become popular.
It’s about time!! Solo travellers should not be dinged because they are traveling alone. And of course why wouldn’t a solo want a balcony? I know I would. I don’t need a lot of room, but I would LOVE a balcony. I’d be quite happy in this cabin. I’m going to give Anthem a look 👍🏻🙂
Yup not even truly "solo" I went on a cruise last summer with my family and I got slammed because I was a single traveler just to have my own room.. so not fair
Solo travellers aren't targeted to spend more money because they're travelling alone, that's the economics of how the pricing works. I own a tour company, we put together and sell tours. Our prices are based on double occupancy. To get that price we take all the expenses, divide them in two, and that's what each person pays. When you're a solo traveller it's not like the tour's expenses are lower. To put it another way: If you book a hotel room that's $100, and there are two of you sharing it, then you each contribute $50. But if you book that same hotel room and it's just you then you're not going to be able to just pay half the rate.
@@annette069 It's just so irritating to be planning a cruise (or other getaway) and be drawn in by a nice, low price, only to see later the itty-bitty addendum (Per Person, Double Occupancy). I always travel alone, and am never looking for a double occupancy scenario. This kind of advertising seems sneaky, to me. Why don't they advertise "Per Cabin/Per Suite" instead, reflecting the actual, full price, and let the itty-bitty type say "(For Up to Two Guests. $X extra per Guest, Per Day, Limit Four Guests Total)" or something like that. It would be more honest up front, IMO. BTW not meaning your travel company specifically, but in general terms. Anyway, as for this video: That cabin would be ideal for me!! 😄
annette069 well, that’s one way of phrasing it if you own the business. For the consumer it’s because one person isn’t going to spend as much money as two people. You’re talking about halfing the cost of the room but what business sees is half the number of wallets in the room. In this case, the cruise ship makes most of its money by having you spend money after you’re already on the boat. The ticket price itself is nothing. One person in a cabin means they lose money on another person not being there to spend, so they slam you up front to discourage it from happening. If they could, they’d pack 5 people in that room.
I’m glad you kept mentioning “studio balcony solo cabin” because when you went on this cruise - I checked the RCCL website to see what the price would be & couldn’t find these cabins because I searched for solo cabins (not studio balcony)! I saw many other balcony cabins meant for more than one person - but couldn’t find these cabins! I like this a lot more than the solo cabin area on the NCL ships (those cabins looks like closets to me & none of them would accommodate a mobility scooter)! Thanks Morgan!! I liked this cabin tour!
We have been on the Anthem twice now (the last time only a week before your trip) we got the spa Jr. Suite both times and it was very much worth the money as the bathroom is excellent. Thanks for another great vid
That's a pretty good cabin for a solo traveler, and definitely nicer than an inside cabin without a balcony. I like getting the insider tips on how well the room works after you have been living in it a few days.
I would love this! Sharing a cabin, even with family or a close friend, can be uncomfortable. And I don't require much; as long as I have a place to sleep, shower, and s..t, I'm GOOD!!
Windows and doors are rounded because they're stronger than square corners and are better at withstanding strong winds. The airliners have this also due to the drastic pressure changes. I might have to try that solo cabin with a balcony. Good review.
Very helpful. I am planning a cruise either by myself or with a friend, and we both want to have our own cabin. And I was resigned to the fact that if I want a balcony suite, I am likely going to have to pay double. This is a nice surprise and I will do some more research thanks to your video. Cheers, Carl
Love the studio balcony's. Have stayed in the ones on the Ovation of the seas a couple of times and managed to get the one beside this one with the larger balcony. Yes they could do with some more storage but I just unzipped my big suitcase and kept it opened up under then bed (using it as a big drawer) which helped alot.
Thanks for the cabin tour. I was looking at an Anthem cruise with solo cabin only slightly more than inside cabin. This is definitely worth the money 💰 👌
Thanks for the video. I’d be more than happy to have that cabin for a cruise, especially if it is cheaper than paying for a regular stateroom. It was a great cabin!
Morgan, glad your solo only because of work, also went on this ship with my wife and grandson, and it was made for dark, gloomy, stormy days. Not I but this ship has gone through some big storms and no real damage, not even the giraffe by the pool. Fantastic ship for all of us individually and together as a family. I’m waiting for the Royal Caribbean resort island to be finished before I go on the Anthem again, but I realize I might feel cheated if I don’t go sooner.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I just booked a studio balcony and was wondering just how small it will be. Your video eased my mind about that.
I loved it! Congrats on getting one of these booked. I've been contacted by so many people since posting this video saying that they are always booked out so long in advance.
I recently cruised Carnival for the first time with my mom, my sister, and my three year old nephew all sharing one room with one bed. They told us before we booked our stateroom that we would be able to request a pack-n-play for my nephew once we boarded, and that there would be enough room to have it set up comfortably. They also told us there would be two twin beds that we could either push together to make a queen or leave apart for two separate beds. They also said there was a pullout couch for the third adult. However, Upon boarding, carnival told us there were no pack-n-plays.. like ever. We also quickly realized there was no way to pull the twin beds apart because the nightstands on either side were fixed to the wall and floor. We also discovered the couch was not a pullout. However, there was a very sketchy cot that pulled down from the ceiling and they provided a ladder to climb up. We ended up with my sister and my nephew taking the bed, my mom sleeping on the couch and me sleeping in the “loft” (aka the prison cot). It was miserable and we were totally misled. My nephew got no sleep because he’s used to being in a crib or pack n play... so we had a sleep deprived monster of a toddler in tow for the entirety of the cruise. I think I’m only gonna cruise with royal Caribbean from now on. Food and entertainment was better with RC anyways.
Thank you for staying in and showing this cabin. I only know of RCI that does this for the solo traveler. 👍🏼 Wish the other lines would follow suit!!! 😳

On my cruise I was so bummed there wasnt a fan option. I love the breeze of a fan, i could deal without that, but I need white noise to sleep, but we had just the basic dial for climate control with no "options". So at first I was going to jam the balcony door open with a chair or something. But then, just on a "just for kicks" moment I went down to guest services and asked if they happened to by chance have a fan or a white noise machine or something I could possibly use to sleep with - they actually had a fan! Plus one point for Carnival!
I sailed Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas in their Super Studio Cabin 7648 in May '16. Look this up on the RCL Anthem Deck 7 Plan. The balcony in this video is normal. Cabin 7648 is HUGE - seems as large as the cabin itself - not really but it is so much larger than most ocean view balconies. Since the side of the ship is not perfectly straight, the jog in and out creates some wonderful balcony spaces. Ask for 7648 Super Studio Ocean View w/Balcony on the Quantum and Anthem ships.
I actually think I would love it as a solo traveler. I think the only thing I'd really miss is a proper chair with a back to use inside, so you could watch TV without sitting on the bed, or use that desk. But I guess you can bring in one of the balcony chairs to use - who's gonna know but you!

The irritating point to this (some hotel rooms are the same) to me is that then I can’t charge any of my electronics while I’m not in the room so that when I get back to my room everything will be unusable because it/they need charging! Best solo Room I've ever seen. However, I'm not offended by the size of the desk but rather that you just get a little pouf to sit on. A real chair would be greatly appreciated!
The studio cabins for solo cruisers on NCL have a water closet for the toilet but the shower has an acrylic wall and door so is completely visible. lol
Out of curiosity, how tall are you? I'm a big/tall guy, 6'3" and I am wondering what your perspective is when considering that? For example, if you're tall, and already feel comfortable, awesome, but if you're shorter, you may think that it's more suited to someone your size.

So we purchased a guaranteed balcony rate and we just got our cabin assigned and it is the same type of cabin in this video but there are three of us. I’m not seeing where a third person could sleep. I can’t find a video showing that either, but my travel agent is saying that this room is rated for four people. It seems unbelievable to me. Do you see how more than two people could sleep in here? Thanks
Ooh, good question. Honestly, if it is this exact cabin, the only way I can imagine a third person in there is if they have a high bed that folds down somewhere, like in the inside cabins. Let me know what you find out, please!
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides so I called Royal Caribbean and they said our cabin has not been assigned yet. My travel agent said this was some glitch as to it showing up on our invoice. I’m glad as I could not imagine the three of us in that cabin.

Wouldn't that be nice???
Ah ok. Thanks for getting back to me!
So you promised that for my Feb 3 cruise it will be warm and sunny, in NJ? I'll hold you to that.
If it’s not, talk to the captain. He told me he’d take care of it.
There has been a lot of buzz on TH-cam about river cruising, is this something you would consider looking into? 🛳💕
Hello thanks for the share. Very good information from your videos. Can you answer a question please. I'm gonna plan a trip on Anthem and was wondering how wheelchair accessible is the ship? Are the areas on the ship easy to manage when you bring a wheelchair person? I want my son to enjoy everything. Thanks
You might want to get in touch with the guys at “Cruising With Wheels” for a more specific answer to that question. Tell them I sent you!
Okay I will thanks for responding
this is a great cabin ...how much ?
the space below the safe that you cannot open is to hide the bolts under the safe so.......you cannot remove the safe
Norwegian has studios as well. Royal Caribbean has as well. I have sailed on both. I take cruises yrly
Hello! I have a question: Does it cost about half the price if you booked a balcony where you would pay for double occupancy?
The prices are always different depending on the cruise, but typically you pay more to cruise alone than you do to cruise with others.
I like dark and stormy weather at sea...
MrRamyon74 love that cocktail too....dark rum with ginger beer with fresh lime....
