  • Hi friends, happy Monday!
They called him the Dating Game Killer, but should he really be the Photography Killer? Or maybe the Getaway Man, because somehow this doofus was always getting away. Plus since they didn’t have the tech we have now, will we ever actually know how many he really did kill?
Also, let me know who you want me to talk about next time. Hope you have a great rest of your week, make good choices and I'll be seeing you very soon.

My mom was picked up by Rodney when she was hitch hiking in 1976. If you google “Rodney Alcala girl in orange bikini” that’s her. He took her pictures in Topanga Canyon and got them a hotel room to sleep in for the night. She started to get creeper vibes from him, so she told him she would hang back while he went to get them food. While he was gone, she took off and got away from him.
Also, while they were in the canyon, he kept trying to get her to go further into the canyon. She convinced him to stay where they were because the lighting was better. In reality, she wanted to stay where people could see them because she had a feeling he might’ve tried to hurt her if they went further down.

The 70s really were a wild time, and they taught everyone to be so much more cautious.

The thing that kept occurring to me, throughout this video, is how many parallels I see between him and Ted Bundy. Smart, charismatic, great smile, super creep, could talk his way into or out of anything. The way he spanned the nation. The cockiness, the escapism, even the way he represented himself, as though he would do a better job than actual lawyers. Didn't even have a really fuhked up childhood. Idk. I don't have a point, other than that his story reminded me a lot of Ted Bundy.

The girls lived just a couple of blocks from the beach. The neighbor saw them, and came over and asked if the girls were ok. Rodney took off running immediately. So it's possible that no one would have approached them if the neighbor hadn't seen these girls she knew with Rodney.

When I was younger my mom taught me that if anybody ever said they knew my parents to ask them for the code, because she would give them a code word if they really were there to pick me up, and when that code was used she would change it for the next time. I only ever had to use this once and I ran from the person when they gave me the wrong code.

Same thing here as last yr my parents got a text saying “hi mum it’s me, i texting from a friends ph, I can’t call but I’m in trouble and need $10,000 to be put into my bank” my parents are elderly and they adore my husband but they didn’t want to call my husband as they thought I may need money but didn’t want husband to know”… they were about to transfer money when my mum said “I’m happy to give you money but I want to meet u to make sure u are ok” all the sudden the person started to say “don’t worry about it” then my mum called me and i was in shock and couldn’t believe my parents were so close to transferring money and whilst it was nice to know they had my back if I was ever truly in that situation I said to them let’s create a code word as if this happens in future u can ask me for code word.. to this day I’m still shocked at how easily they were going to handover cash, especially as even though my parents are older I never thought that they would fall for an obvious scam ❤from Australia

Aaaaaaaa! You actually had to ask the code!!? 🥶 That's what I'm teaching my son! That exact code thing! I was molested myself in childhood on multiple occasions and definitely want a better childhood for my kid! There are creeps out there, though! Always were, are, and probably will find a way to still be around in the future, unfortunately .😣

I love to think that we can get back to that time when people don't have the bystander feeling and actually take action and save these kids. People have to stick up for people and I'm happy to see that. At least in the 1970s that was predominantly what seemed to be happening.

The way he changed in personality sounds like a head trauma to me. The fact that his mom noticed something different and the army giving him that honorable discharge even though he clearly shouldn't have gotten one if he went AWOL. I wonder if the army was trying to cover something up and make him not their problem anymore.
Like Bailey said, he didn't seem to have the tortured childhood others had.
Our brains are so interestingly weird.
