Rose Noir formed in 1992. The group went on to release a total of two demos throughout 1993: a self-titled one and "So Blue One Night", both of which circulated somewhat well among the indies underground. In February of 1994, Rose Noir appeared on the "Emergency Express '94 Coup de Theatre" omnibus, although shortly after appearing on it, Rose Noir disbanded. Frontman Kamui (神已) and one of the guitarists of Rose Noir, Gille, went on to form the breakthrough, legendary visual band, Sophia, which had tremendous success in the mainstream Japanese music scene. While in Sophia, Kamui went by his full name of Mitsuru Matsuoka (松岡充) and Gille also went by his full name of Toyota Kazutaka (豊田和貴). In 2013, after nearly two decades together as a band, while remarkably maintaining the same lineup as when they formed, Sophia shockingly announced their disbandment. Currently, both Mitsuru and Toyota are members of the indies band, Michael.
