- I’ll admit a lot of great memories and friends come from amazing day of May 27th 1990 when I saw the Stone Roses play Spike Island. So much came from that gig for a lot of us, be it friendships or the music. And this was the backdrop so it’s seems wrong not to give a fitting tribute and fair well to an iconic structure of this area. I’ll be honest I couldn’t face seeing it starting to be demolished at the present time. A lot of memories link in. But that’s fine! So I shall leave with great images of this magnificent and iconic structure to me and leave a link to when I did a specific walk there. Each to their own but thank you for watching! Paul

@@pauljones401 I got some shots a few weeks ago, I had my drone ready today and a location in mind but the visibly was poor. So I opted for warm house and a cuppa 🤣 mind you I still heard the rumble from 2.6 miles away.

Such a beautiful area! It will no doubt be very different now, but it's marvelous that you were able to capture it on film!
It’s a strange one I know! But meant a lot to so many in the area and to many for the reasons I mentioned too. Great area not far from me 👍

Just such a part of the area in many ways. Felt right to do this however daft that may sound. It really did. P

Heard it? I bloody felt it!! The whole house shook and I'm in Fearnhead too, so not exactly next door to Fiddlers.
Because of the concert it became a great focal point for me remembering some great moments and people. I was up ready to go this morning and thought no. Let the majesty remain. Thank you very much. Paul 👍

Great video Paul. Love that spot,and it's history at Wigg Island. I was thinking of going there to see the end, but too cold to stand around for maybe 4 hours. Hope you are? 😀
No I’m not as I’m quite fond of the place!! It’s featured in quite a lot of my films so I’ll let others document its end.

I live in the area of Drax power station in Yorkshire (which has survived the coal purge), and missed the opportunity to visit Eggborough and Ferrybridge power stations before they were demolished, so just before the end of October I had the pleasure of driving across the Pennines and visiting Fiddlers Ferry for pictures and b-roll before they blasted down the north cooling towers, the design was definitely brutalist and lovely and I also appreciated the local community’s efforts to immortalise it’s memory before it finally disappeared.
Sadly it will disappear, and I’ll be painfully reminded of that by the extra figures on my energy bill, as I did warn a lot of people of when they started knocking these places down 😢.
Really glad I had the opportunity. It’s definitely going to be missed and I’m happy I had such a great day to capture it

Its like the Anderton boat lift area near Northwich that was also extremely polluted but has recovered well over the decades..
Still on my iPhone SE 2019. A great day to visit. Lots of people seem in tune with my view! Great tunes you did on your video
@@pauljones401 Cool it's a great vid you did..the phone its just as good as an expensive camera.
I like experimenting with sounds (noodling they call it in the synth community).
Nothing special as these sounds were made up in a few minutes then the Synthstorm Deluge sequencer controls the 8 bar patterns, it's very easy on these desk top synths.
