As someone who's been wanting for Jonny cakes to be considered a try guy for so long them calling him "basically a try guy" at 1:35 is a huge win for me 😤
I think Phoning It In is my favorite series, it's a lot of what's fun about WAR + putting the chefs through absolute torture of their own design. Amazing. Every episode, a delight.
I do love that the regular Johnny we see knows how to instruct Zach on what to do but like learn him name things so he understands what needs to be done.
ngl, I feel like if there wasn't salt rimming the pan, it would def be a tough call. I think Kwesi did an AMAZING job except for that one blip (which is super common anyway), which is a vast improvement. Honestly, they both did an amazing job; you can definitely see the improvement in comparison to their first respective debut. Favourite season of PII for sure!~
I would love to see a version of this where the professional chefs get to come in 10 or so minutes before the timer goes off, freaking out (most likely), and having to try and fix it 😂
There's a British TH-cam channel called Sorted where they have chefs and normals do different cooking stuff. One of their challenges, they each get like 10 mins in the kitchen, can't talk to the other members, and have to make a themed coherent dish. It's one of my favorite things to watch ever. It's hilarious. Sometimes they gel, but most of the time it's just them running around trying to figure out what is going on. It's delightful
I love JCakes’ rant about dummy cakes! 😂 When I got married, my planner told me only one of the 4 tiers was real cake… but didn’t bother to tell me which tier it was! 3 layers of styrofoam and almost an entire rendition of “Hey Ya” (Scrubs version) later, I finally found the real layer 🙄
As a baker, the way Kwesi measures wet ingredients is going to give me nightmares. Not using a liquid measuring cup is one thing, but not even filling the dry measuring cups to the top??? I'm speachless.
i've seen the dry cups that had an interior marking of where the level should be, instead of all the way to the top. it's nice, it reduces spillage. i'm hoping that's what those were. and i use "dry measure" cups about 90% of the time in my baking, it doesn't really change anything vs using the glass measurer.
@jlt131 I'm not entirely sure if the marks inside a dry measuring cup would be accurate. Liquids tend to dip a little bit when you measure them, which is why liquid measuring cups are clear, so you can get eye level and see where the lowest point is to get the most accurate measurement. I don't remember the name of it, it's just the one thing I managed to retain from 7th grade science other than the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. All of that to say: I just use liquid measuring cups because that's how I learned to bake and I haven't bothered to change my measuring techniques lol. As long as you fill it to the top, i don't think it'll make much difference in most baking. Kwesi, however, was using normal metal dry measuring cups and filling them about 3/4 of the way, so he didn't even measure close to the right amount 😅
Can I just say...having this extended cast is actually so fun! I remember being skeptical about the changes to the format of the channel, but I'm loving the content y'all make more than ever
The judging hasn't even started yet and this is already one of my favourite episodes ever. Kwesi's nervewracking mixups, jonny and jonny, jonny being so tired of zach's shenanigans but at the same time acting like a mom who has figured out how to deal with her kids. And then the 2 idiots trying to figure out the clues from the crew like this is some kind of escaperoom. This whole thing is brilliant!
The salt vs. sugar mistake happens to all of us at some point, Kwesi! But dang does it hurt. Loved how excited you were about the candied fruits and “marshmallow “!
Omg I looooove the "new" Johnny! On first impression he looks like a weathered biker, and then he's actually just a sweet guy who likes to bake! Love that he also went all in on Kwesi's jokes/commentary. Please bring him back again.
I noticed that! But I was hoping it was just because he said 1/3 of a cup, so instead of using the 1/3 cup, he just filled one cup 1/3 of the way. 😅🤦♀️
1. This was AMAZING, my favorite episode this season. I don’t always laugh out loud watching TH-cam videos but the judging had me absolutely cackling 2. PLEASE keep the “idiots” in the chefs’ ears at the judging as a permanent feature, it’s GLORIOUS 3. Zach and Jonny is my favorite pairing, please keep pairing them up 4. haha poor johnny. he was so nice and such a good sport. he looked so embarrassed and anxious during the judging. that one tiny mistake of the salt lining was really the only fault they had with it. i do think the glow in the dark cake was cool though. and that did get done properly so congrats to zach and jonny, good job!
Johnny knowing Z so much. “Let’s give it a name”, he really knows how ro communicate with Zack. Good job.
I thought the same thing! 😂
It needs to be ongoing Jonny advice, it was a great moment
Johnny Bake Cake was an awesome guest! He freaked out for a second, and he completely opened up afterward 😂🫶
🎉❤
Devastating that the only thing that went overtly wrong with Kwesi’s cake is that he accidentally used salt instead of sugar, a pretty common mistake
Once upon a time, my sister texted me while I was at work saying she was making puppy chow. I was so excited. I got home and immediately shoved a handful into my mouth.
It went to paste.
She used flour instead of powdered sugar on accident lololol
Honestly johnny and kwesi did actually really good??? This is one of the most complicated cakes done in the show and most of it just went fine i loved how calm johnny was
I wish they had 2 ovens, the issues with the ovens are the reason so many recipes get ruined and its so annoying
Frrr like put another over on the side if it doesn’t fit like common
The patience JohnnyBakeCake has with Kwesi is adorable and refreshing.
☺️
@@johnnybakecakeplease dont be too harsh on yourself. You did GREAT! Considering the fact Kwesi is what you got to work with 😅
Thank you!! Kewsi really and truly did so good!! except for that one little gigantic mistake 😂
@@johnnybakecake you were a phenomenal teacher!! I commend you for that!
@@johnnybakecake you and kwesi were a great team without having worked together before. despite the anxiety you communicated well and it might be one of the least chaotic episodes i've seen kwesi in. you have an awesome attitude and really hope to see you back!
jonnybakecake: if he tries to use that that’s gonna be gross
kwesi: …that’s freaking fantastic, I have to use this
Aww I'm so sad new Johnny was so anxious during the judging! I hope overall he had a good time, I thought he did really well with Kwesi and was a very patient instructor and did his best to make the instructions clear and worked with what Kwesi knew when he could. And I think if the salt/sugar mix up hadn't happened this would've been probably one of Kwesi's best results in a cooking competition he's done.
I had such a fun time doing this show! I was VERY anxious though 🤣😅
@@johnnybakecakeyou took it all like a champ and we love to see it!!
@@johnnybakecakeyou were a great contestant! Really fun and a great addition! I hope it was an overall fun experience and you come back for another round! I think you would have won if not for the mix up
@@johnnybakecake You were great! As someone who also struggles with anxiety I would not have been holding it together at all haha
@@johnnybakecake I'm glad you did have fun! And totally understandable. I had a great time watching the episode and very much enjoyed what you brought to the show 😊
The new Johnny being so genuinely nervous was ADORABLE 🤣🤣🤣
Jonny imitating Zach’s voice during the judging was so good 😂😂😂 “Mysteriiess”
I love the Jonnys bickering while Kwesi begs his for the attention to help him 😂
As someone who's been wanting for Jonny cakes to be considered a try guy for so long them calling him "basically a try guy" at 1:35 is a huge win for me 😤
I was immediately reminded of when Eugene either said or was subtitled with “we’re now 1/3 gay” and I am rooting for a gay percentage of fifty.
@@TwoCatsInLondon It's 2 out of 5 now.
@@thevoicelesswriter Adding in Kwesi? Cause I would add Kwesi!
@falconawesome Literally, Keith, Zach, Eugene, Kwesi and Johnny are a dream team.
The moment when Zach accidentally drops the top layer and Kwesi’s head slowly enters the frame - peak comedy!
Directly onto the superglue bottle too
Kwesi was doing so well. I didn't even notice the error with the salt. I'm dying 😂
he honestly did so good except for that one thing!! I was so proud of him ☺️
Even with the fire alarm sound effects and red tinting on the screen???? Sounds like you were paying even less attention than Kwesi James
@@cannotthinkofaname7904 😂
I think Phoning It In is my favorite series, it's a lot of what's fun about WAR + putting the chefs through absolute torture of their own design. Amazing. Every episode, a delight.
I do love that the regular Johnny we see knows how to instruct Zach on what to do but like learn him name things so he understands what needs to be done.
I noticed this too. It’s low key so sweet ❤
Yeees, such a good technic
ngl, I feel like if there wasn't salt rimming the pan, it would def be a tough call. I think Kwesi did an AMAZING job except for that one blip (which is super common anyway), which is a vast improvement. Honestly, they both did an amazing job; you can definitely see the improvement in comparison to their first respective debut. Favourite season of PII for sure!~
I agree completely:) one of the awesome things about Kwesi is that he wants to learn and grow and it’s so fun to see his progress!
The Jonny v. Johnny cat fight over the phone was so freaking funny I LOVE when a guest just leans into the vibes and plays along 😂
OG Jonny goes from "Zachy" to "Zachary" real quick with the oven shenanigans
I would love to see a version of this where the professional chefs get to come in 10 or so minutes before the timer goes off, freaking out (most likely), and having to try and fix it 😂
There's a British TH-cam channel called Sorted where they have chefs and normals do different cooking stuff. One of their challenges, they each get like 10 mins in the kitchen, can't talk to the other members, and have to make a themed coherent dish. It's one of my favorite things to watch ever. It's hilarious. Sometimes they gel, but most of the time it's just them running around trying to figure out what is going on. It's delightful
Please have Johnny bake cakes back, he is such a chill guy 10/10.
"The only formally trained Jonny."
*GOOD GOD JONNY BEING ATTACKED WITH THESE INTROS AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH* 😂😂😂
Johnny with a beard is sooo cute.
Poor baby he was so nervous......his entire face was red.
He has gorgeous eyes
He looked so sad at the end, too 🥲 hope he gets a redemption episode, he seemed such a kind person, definitely deserves it
I love him so much!! I want him back!
shoutout to chef mei lin for making sure he was hydrated 😭
I really hope he comes back!
Jonny being like “I’m sorry for yelling at you” made me laugh so hard
I love JCakes’ rant about dummy cakes! 😂 When I got married, my planner told me only one of the 4 tiers was real cake… but didn’t bother to tell me which tier it was! 3 layers of styrofoam and almost an entire rendition of “Hey Ya” (Scrubs version) later, I finally found the real layer 🙄
As a baker, the way Kwesi measures wet ingredients is going to give me nightmares. Not using a liquid measuring cup is one thing, but not even filling the dry measuring cups to the top??? I'm speachless.
😐... there are liquid measuring cups?
@amandakesterson224 yup! They're the clear ones with the marks up the side and a handle. Zach uses one in the video.
Not wanting to use grams is what gives me nightmares as a European haha
i've seen the dry cups that had an interior marking of where the level should be, instead of all the way to the top. it's nice, it reduces spillage. i'm hoping that's what those were. and i use "dry measure" cups about 90% of the time in my baking, it doesn't really change anything vs using the glass measurer.
I felt for Johnny Bake Cakes so hard when it was judging time. Those nerves were so real😭😭😭
Right I felt awful
I felt bad for him the whole time 🥲
He ran with it so well, though! Major kudos to him for that, the poor guy
Can I just say...having this extended cast is actually so fun! I remember being skeptical about the changes to the format of the channel, but I'm loving the content y'all make more than ever
I hope Jonnybakecake comes back for another episode. Love his style. Poor dude looked so stressed at the judging
When kwesi said "explain it to me like I'm a 2 year old" I felt that hahahaha!
kwesi begging his johnny to stop arguing with the other johnny is so hilarious HAHA
Kwesi came so close to perfection and just one screw up made the whole thing inedible
I want to see a redemption episode for johnny (bake cake). He was red during the whole judging, and you can tell he REALLY wanted to do well
Kwesi filling the measuring cups halfway is killing me. 😭
I noticed that! But I was hoping it was just because he said 1/3 of a cup, so instead of using the 1/3 cup, he just filled one cup 1/3 of the way. 😅🤦♀️
@@danielleking262 NGL, when lazy and not doing something more finicky, I've done that, but never when baking. lol.
@@danielleking262 Nope, I'm pretty sure he used a separate 1/3 cup that he ALSO only half filled for that part.
Zach: it's okay if cake stops baking in the middle though, right?
Jonny: No. No one said that. No one ever said that.
😭 Poor jonny
1. This was AMAZING, my favorite episode this season. I don’t always laugh out loud watching TH-cam videos but the judging had me absolutely cackling
2. PLEASE keep the “idiots” in the chefs’ ears at the judging as a permanent feature, it’s GLORIOUS
3. Zach and Jonny is my favorite pairing, please keep pairing them up
4. Johnnybakecakes was a delight
5. Other contestants should use Zach’s naming method, because I think it genuinely helped them more easily and quickly discuss things
Honestly though, as someone who writes instructions for a living Johnny Cakes getting Zach to name things is brilliant. They can refer to it based on a common name which is like step one.
Calm Patient Johnny
vs
Jonny Who Actually Knows How The Minds Of The Guys Work
I love that he knew Zach was screwing with them when he started yelling at the end. “I hate them” lol
"The only formally trained Jonny"
Wow, they're roasting poor Jonny hard in those intros😂
The fighting over the oven is insanely frustrating when there are REMOVABLE RACKS TO FIT THE CAKE SIZES!!!!
I WAS THINKING THIS LIKE JUST MOVE THE TOP RACK DOWN A LIL
The editing on this is amazing 🤣 I love the spelling out of how Kwesi pronounced the tapioca maltodextrin, and the question marks when he didn't understand, and the red emergency lights 😆
6:27 I feel like this moment was the pure embodiment of "How the hell you spell chauffeur?" "Chauffeur." "Ooh fancy pants rich mcgee over here, *fuck you* ."
Bless johnny bake cake. The panic when he's like "can i have some water please?" 😂 so funny, i hope we see more of him a little more prepared for our boys chaos
can Johnny #2 come back, I loved him
Johnny getting in Jimmy's face about the dowels is a top 5 moment of this series ever.
calling a toothpick a dowel had me in TEARS
He really leaned into it
I never understood when they built their new studio. Why there was not 2 stoves and 2 ovens. They just keep asking for trouble 😂😂😂
Yes, and a bigger freezer.
@@bingewatchforever1587 I’m pretty sure they do have a bigger freezer & bigger ovens outside. I remember they used them on without a recipe.
@@thatgirl9532 Was this in the new studio? It could be, of course, that they do it on purpose, to create more chaos ... x-D
@@bingewatchforever1587 Yeah I’m pretty sure it was last year so 😅
I agree, probably done on purpose as it adds more chaos and entertainment value 😂
I remember Shane & Keith using the massive freezer on last years phoning it in
Love watching the communication techniques at play between chef and idiot, like the naming things for easier reference and the patience and cooperation with kwesi’s very poetic descriptions of food
Johnny: "Do they look golden?"
Kwesi: "Yes."
The cakes: Pale AF 😂
Jonny's lemon cake and Johnny's lemon cake
It's the same energy as the skull cakes from last season😂😂😂
Johnny Cakes and Zach Cornfields is the greatest love story of our generation.
I love that it occurred to neither of the boys to move the rack in the oven
i appreciate johnnybakecake adopting kwesi's language; real way to his heart fr
Kwesi has to be the adult in charge of his Chef's shenanigans kills me! What an interesting flip of dynamics HAHAHA
