cool video. i tried many ways to start a fire the survival way. but in a real life situation every body would use the lighter. its better in any situation. when wet, keep it in your dry pocket. it dries out quickly.
I also carry a soup can hobo stove. You can maintain the embers for 45 minutes and not need a lighter again. If you keep the stove off the ground and have a handle on it, you can maintain the ember in pouring rain.
I agree that a ferro rod is a better option as it obviously doesn't use fuel, can be used wet, etc however I feel the average joe hiker wouldn't be able to properly use it hence why I suggested a lighter. 100% fixed blade knife. A full tang knife is without question your best knife to have in any situation. Thanks for your feedback, I really do appreciate it. Cheers!
@@TheWanderingWayfarer I agree that not everyone can start a fire with a ferro rod but I think most would manage to make it work given a few hours but even a survival expert would have a problem starting a fire after falling down and breaking their bic so I’d still say ferro rod lol
@@Bruce6001 You good sir are not wrong! I always have my ferro rod with me (2 actually) as well as a BIC in my pocket, in my backpack, and if I'm in my kayak I'll have one in a water proof bag in there as well. Ferro rod for the win!
Those little cheap lighters are the way to go. I use to carry a Zippo with me camping but they run out so quickly, especially if you don't use it frequently.....those little Bic lighters seem to last a long time.
In the 4 minutes it took to watch this I had 3 of my boys come up, sit next to me, ask who that was, ask why you changed your channel name and ask how you grew a beard so fast. 🤣 They are all up to speed now. I need to get one of those life straws!
Yeah man! The life straw is pretty awesome. It is however a bit tough to suck up the water.. takes a bit of work. There is another one out there called Sawyer Micro that is suppose to be much better that I'd like to try out. a bit more expensive I'm told but is much easier to get your water.
Great Top 3, Thanks for sharing it with us, As you know I’m not the outdoors type 🤭🤪 but I do have a Swiss Army knife 🔪 but after this I want a Sexy ass one 🤔😆 Stay safe & have a lovely week ❤️🤩xx
So simple but such great Info!!
Thanks man. I want to to a video in the future with my top 10.

Absolutely! Keep practicing starting a fire in different ways. It's so satisfying when you accomplish it! Thanks for commenting my friend

I would change it to ferro rod, stainless steel single wall water bottle, fixed blade knife, your bic breaks your filter breaks your folder breaks

Oh yeah man, A Bic over a zippo any day. As I've always said... "If it ain't BIC, It aint S@*%"!
Great tips ! Only thing I have is a knife when I go anyway . I prob should get some lighters .
A little preparedness goes a long way!
