So glad I could be of help for this video. E-sims were a saviour for us while in Greece.
P.S. Thank you for the informative tour in Athens!
Guyssss! He's good! ❤
😢
Your videos are great love the maps and details you share, very helpful. Keep sharing.
I'm glad your subscribers number is going up, all your videos are very helpful as they're all very detailed and precise, best Greek info channel to be honest, thanks again, you're a great help!!!
US traveler with iPhone 14+ last month in Athens I found a local Vodaphone store in Omonia and bought an eSIM and costed €40 for 10GB data. Worked well in Greece, Mykonos, UK, Croatia, Italy, Albania.
Did you have to unlock your phone? I am from US and have Verizon and don’t know if my 12 Pro is locked or not but it seems like not locked
Holy smokes that's a lot! we only paid around 12 euro for 20 GB with Cosmote and that worked with no issues.
You’re absolutely fantastic Seb,
Thank you SO much!
Dude you are the man! Loving these videos
Me too, Seb! ❤
Hi Sebastian..I am traveling to Greece during September end and really loving your videos. Got immense help for planning everything for Santorini and Athens. Need some help regarding Mykonos...Any guidance or you tube channel will be very helpful
Hi Sebi! Finally! I’m off to Greece next Monday. I booked one of your recommended hotel in Athens. Too bad I didn’t watch this video first. I already purchased the European Orange SIM card. I’ve used it last year in France.
Have a nice travel! ☺️ Hopefully i also will be meeting Greece soon!
Hi Sebastian!! Thank you for all your videos. They have been very helpful. Do you recommend buying a sim card ahead of time (from Canada)and picking up the SIM card at the Athens airport? I have a portable wifi device.
Hi ! If you re gonna buy a physical SIM card, then I would just do it on the spot, no need to buy it ahead of time.
Hi Sebastian, are you familiar with the Orange Holiday travel esim card? It provides a French phone number for calls and texts but I don’t see many reliable reviews on this product. Would love to get some feedback from yourself or other viewers? Thank you
Since Brexit, all of my network providers in the UK, as I'm on contract I've been allowed to use my allocated calls, text and data
love your videos. my question relates to international calls. the only call i will possibly need to make is to my canadian bank or travel insurance company in the case of an emergency. the cosmote sim cards that i saw only allow national calls. i can call collect if i can figure out how to reach a greek operator(I saw 3 references, each to a different method), but i still don't know if that qualifies as a national call included on the minutes of a cosmote card. there is a cosmote add-on that would allow international calls, but i suspect that is not available at the kiosks. one method of calling collect was to call 0170 from a landline, but will i be able to find a landline?
Sorry I have no idea !
Yes, only Vodafone sim card can give you minutes for international calls. I know as I work for them.
Hi! I’m unable to open the link for e-sim for Greece
great
Hi Sebastian - I found many locations (Cosmote, Vodafone, Nova) near the PIRAEUS port but all of them are closed on Sundays. This is a dilemma for us since we wanted to have the SIM cards when we board our cruise. Do you have any other suggestions as to where we might purchase a SIM card on a Sunday? thanks
Shops are closed on Sundays indeed. I'd just get an eSIM if I were you
I’m in Athens atm. At Monastiraki square and other tourist spots there are some mobile Vodafone kiosk selling sims. 12euro unlimited internet plus calls for one week or you can buy 20euro unlimited internet for one month. Of course it works in other European countries. It was easy getting it set up. They need a physical form of ID though.
Does a drivers license from a different country work?
@@BabyImAcodPlaya I’m not sure. They accepted my passport.
@@Fetojoven123 i completely forgot I’d have my passport with me. Thanks !
Yea we bought a SIM from Cosmote at the store in Syntagma Square. I believe we paid 12 euro for 20 GB? and we did show them our passport which they were fine with for ID. No issues!
Hi Seb, do you know if I can find good prices for Cosmote sim card in Santorini airport or Fira? (I mean better prices than Athens airport which i read is around EUR35). Thank you :)
Dont know for sure, sorry. These things change constantly.
In portugal you can get a sim card that's just strictly internet (unlimited internet for 15 euros for 15 days) and then we have a small internet box we put the sim card in and keep its battery charged and acts like a portable router. Does greece have something similar thats just strictly internet?
Yes I believe that exists but I dont know anything about it, sorry !
Anything that will work for Turkey? I will be on a cruise from Greece.
Sure ! Here you go : airalo.pxf.io/jr9By0
Does esim work in santorini, milos, paros and creete?
Yup
if you run out of data on the airalo esim card can you just pay to add more data without reloading another airsim card?
It's possible to add a new data package by tapping on “TOP UP” in the app, to continue using the same eSIM.
Does anyone know if the data purchased via Greek sim or the esim works while on a cruise ship in the area?
If you're near the coast (mainland or islands), you'll have decent signal. When you're in the open sea, far away from everything, signal gets really poor.
Does a US phone also need to be unlocked for eSim to work?
Its not about the nationality of the phone but the nationality of your carrier.
Which network is better COSMOTE or Vodafone?
Same
Can you get an eSIM through cosmote?
Not sure. Never heard of it ...
🙏😊
I downloaded airlo and it did not work. Found a Vodaphone kiosk and she installed sim. I still cannot use my phone unless I’m sitting in a restaurant with Wi-Fi or hotel.
Very sorry to hear that ! Maybe you should check this out : www.airalo.com/blog/how-do-i-know-if-my-phone-supports-esim-technology
Can you use the eSIM app in a unlocked phone that has another SIM physical card? Do you have to take out the physical SIM card?
OR
DO you have to buy a phone that has eSIM capability? Do you have to take out the physical SIM card?
Yes you can use the eSIM app even with a physical SIM card inside your phone :-)
@@GreeceExplainedAnother Question - does it have to be a phone with eSIM capability. I only have a phone with a physical SIM and no eSIM capability.
@@margaretkristof6082 Yes it has to be a phone with eSIM capability :-)
Does that link for the esim also work for Canadian travelers to Greece?
Hi Ken, the link does work. My wife just purchased and downloaded. That particular esim is very popular all over the world, apparently easy to use, and was recommended to us by friends traveling to Italy recently. We will be in Greece next week and will comment on our experience. Hope that is helpful.
Hi Ken, just returned from Greece. My wife purchased the Airolo SIM card with 10 GB data and I purchased the Orange Zen Travel ESIM purchased from a 3rd party site. Mine was a bit more expensive but it included a French phone number for free local calls and SMS. Mine was also supposed to include limited international calling and SMS but I was not able to send outgoing international texts. Both esims worked well and were super easy to install/activate. Had some areas where we could not get connections (mainly in Santorini) but worked very well most of the time. We visited Naxos, Santorini, and Athens. Only used less then 3 GB of data each over 10 days and mostly for directions and What’s app. We used wifi when we could. I would have no reservations purchasing from this link for data only or Orange if you want phone number to call locally. Hope that is helpful and enjoy your trip!😊
@@cowboyscoffeetalk676 Appreciate the update. Actually surprised how little data you used.
Do you know if e-sim are good for Island Hopping? I will be on cruise ship
All good except you will lose signal when in the open sea, far away from any island. But you would have the same problem with a regular sim card.

Can I hotspot with the eurolink regional option?
Yes you can
Holafly shows unlimited data eSim. Is this good? Does it work or is it fake news? Trying not to get scammed. It claims Networks: Vodafone / Wind / Cosmote. technical specs.
From what I heard from my Instagram followers, Airalo was more reliable than Holafly.
