No one ever seems to cover his case and I’m so excited that you did!
I lived in the general area before and often heard stories about this guy. So cool that Kris is covering this story since not a lot of crime and mystery channels do.
@@Java1970I assume they meant that those who discuss prolific serial killers like Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer, even Wuornos often don’t or barely cover Rigway.
I am here! (Also I love how she covers them, I always feel so much better about the fictional problematic favs- _still_ gonna side eye the Hannibal fandom, though.)
My mom worked at the same trucking company the same time as him. Was there the day he was arrested. As a Seattle area native, we tend to focus on Bundy, but Ridgeway is just as nefarious.
My mom grew up with Kimi Pitsor, and was her neighbor. She was one of his victims, and was last seen April 17th, 1983 (Sandra Gabbert was also last seen on this day). My mom remembers kimi's brother coming to her door wondering where she was, kimi had taken the trash out with no shoes on and didn't come back inside.

Hi, i know that im late but could you do a video on the troubled teen industry? Its very similar to cults and its good to spread awareness about it. I went to one and it was traumatising. The troubled teen industry is therapeutic boarding schools, wilderness therapy's and residential treatment centres.
Hi, as an ex-mormon that still lives in Utah your comment made me laugh out loud. Not only is it not rude to speak the truth but it is awesome to hear cults being called out on their horrifying history. I love watching your videos and have really been enjoying all the cold case and serial killer content you have been doing lately. Please keep making the videos. I still remember watching you live when you got all the donations that allowed you to quit your job and start making videos full time. Your content is amazing, keep it up.
I live incredibly close to where he hunted, I have lived less than a 2 minute walk away from where he worked, my favorite hiking trail is on the green river. I knew a girl growing up who was his niece, she would constantly brag about it. My grandfather went to high school with him, and one of my mother’s professors had to leave her class during one of her semesters in college because he was called out to catch him. It was intrigued by how someone could do something so evil when I was young, the green river killer is where I found my love for psychology and my interest in true crime. I have heard about him my entire life and I love that you covered this case.
I think the scariest thing about Gary Ridgeway is how normal he comes across!!! 😨 I mean keeping photos and toys of his son in his truck to calm women down is just wild to me and terrifying. It's mind blowing that killers like him, the BTK and Happy Face Killer are/were all fathers with double lives!!! 😳 I think it really needs to be put out there that Serial Killers generally look normal and not what is portrayed in Horror Movies. They don't necessarily stand out really or scream danger. I think the only killer from a Horror Movie that came across as realistic was John Cramer (Jigsaw) from the Saw Series. It's such a chilling and heartbreaking thought/realization to think that this *VERY* moment someone could be getting murdered!!! 😢
Story recommendation! ❤ Please cover Joseph Edward Duncan he was absolutely horrific and tore my town apart at a young age. He's my version of your Robert Pickton although wasn't nearly as successful THANK GOD because the thing he did were somehow worse 😭 I went to school with a survivor of his cruelty her name is Shasta Groene she watched the majority of her family be gruesomely murdered. He had previously killed in California before coming here to Idaho, he took Shasta and her brother to Montana and did unspeakable things to them. Only Shasta survived. No one ever covers him and I'd love to hear a deep dive and learn about his other victims.
Speaking of killing it, your detective skills are amazing who cares that the information is all previously published! Our favorite detective is on the case!
It’s so crazy to hear you tell this story. I grew up in the Seattle area hearing about this story. Thank you for taking the time to individually name each victim. I have never heard this in such a deep dive way. So sad but so interesting to hear about something so close to home.
My mother grew up an hour outside of Seattle, and her best friends brother was next door neighbors with Ridgeway. My mom’s friend used to go to his house for garage sales as a teenager. She said he was quiet and kept to himself. So incredibly weird.
I grew up in Kent and I still remember when he was caught. My dad worked at the King County Jail at the time and him and his coworkers all hated him. One of my friend's mom was friends with one of the victims. I went to Green River Community College and when I was there the main detective on the case came to talk to us about it in my criminology class. He's currently rotting in a prison in Eastern Washington where he belongs.
My grandma work at an office job and interacted with the green river kill often and she said he was just anorma guy . That when all the murder stuff about him came out every one was so shocked because everyone at he job knew him as this nice guy . Also a girl in my class lived on a street he was known for taking and killing people from. Of course she lived there long after he was caught
@JahoonlaChalamet-m4v yeah my grandma was young when she worked with him (she had kids young) it's scary to think that she could have been one of the victims
Hey Kris, I'm loving the true crime videos you do and as a Brit I'd love to see you cover some more British serial killers such as Harold Shipman, Peter Sutcliffe (The Yorkshire Ripper) or Ian Brady & Myra Hindley (The Moors Murders)
What makes him so scary is the nonchalant and matter of fact-ness in which he details everything while being so seemingly Ned Flanders in real life like. It's so unsettling. Like, "Hodly diddly doo neighbor." but also being a s.k.
Peter Sutcliffe was a truck driver who murdered lots of women in the UK. He was known as The Yorkshire Ripper. It's a sad but interesting case. Police interviewed him 9 times before they caught him. I would love to see you do a video on him. Please 🙏 xx
Kris, thanks for being you and sharing your lovely personality and your time with us. I’m going through a particularly harsh depressive episode and can’t focus on anything for the life of me. Comfort shows/movies included, but your videos (especially this series) is able to keep my attention and quiet my mind a bit. I love you girl, on your worst days I hope you know how impactful your company is, even if it’s virtual.
Hi Kris! Big fan for over 4 years, I’m big crime junkie and I’m 15. Crazy thing my mom step sister, she never met her but she was murdered by the greenriver killer. So thank you for the this episode for keeping their and her memory alive
My Father in law was a serial killer here in NE Ohio. He too used my husband as a way to lure and reassure women and as an alibi. Coincidentally his name is Matthew too. His father was finally caught in 2017 and sentenced to life in prison but he died in the first outbreak of Covid in 2020. ID did an episode of Evil Lives Here about it.
Scary fact. My best friend‘a mother was in the Seattle area during his decades long spree. She attended a party and someone had brought their cousin to try and get him to be social. It was HIM! She said he made her feel uneasy at best and she ended up leaving the party early because he creeped her out.
My mum met him a few times at a bar while he was active. She thought he was a creepy but harmless dude at the time. After he was arrested she was shocked but also not shocked.
@@chebikitty5566 yeah. Margaret said he was creepy and somewhat awkward but it wasn’t that endearing awkward a lot of people are. It gave her a bad feeling and she barely said two words to him. Obviously not literally. She was polite and said the usual hi nice to meet you stuff but that was it.
My aunt is one of these victims. She was 16 year old. My father, her brother, was never the same when he found out what happened to her. Personally I this he should go through everything he did to those girls. But my father is a better man, he forgave Ridgeway.
The way is it Kris said Enumclaw 😂 it got me dying on the floor, cause I’m from Washington and it’s pronounced ( E -num - claw) the way she said ( en um claw) 😂😂😂😂
I live in WA state and this is one of the earliest stories I can remember as a kid when it came to “Stranger Danger” of the 90’s. My mom was an avid true crime junkie back in the day and never let us forget the dangers as girls!
I grew up in maple valley. Ridgeway has impacted the whole state in such a negative way. He is currently rotting in Walla Walla penitentiary. Apparently he wanted out of solitary confinement and was asked to be transferred to Colorado in which the state agreed until the family members of the victims along with the general public were outraged and demanded he get sent back to Walla Walla, and go back into solitary confinement. I haven’t fact checked any of this but he is talked about often within the state.
Please do one on Ray Dempsey Gardner. Shirley Gretzinger was my grandfathers fiancé. He never talked about it. No one really knew until after my grandparents passed.
Knowing what he did makes me hate that I share the same birthday (obviously different year) it’s just strange to know that people like that can have even the smallest thing in common with one other.
Ironically, his coworkers were aware he'd been questioned a couple times about the murders, and called him Green River Gary kind've as a joke, kind've trolling him a bit bc while they thought he was okay, they also thought he was a little inept bc he was the guy who would mess up with the wrong paint color so they'd have to repaint a truck etc. Imagine when the cops show up to arrest him at work and realizing the guy you thought was kind've an idiot has literally been epic-level trolling you for over a decade bc he really WAS the Green River killer.
I call him Green River Gary because of that! He does have a below average IQ and I imagine his slowness and ineptitude for hard for him to deal with and probably contributed to his rage. Yet at the same time he got away with killing dozens of women for 20 years. It's bizarre and very scary.
I’ll never forget the guy who did my first tattoo when I was 18 while doing my tattoo he started talking about how he spent some time in the same prison as Gary Ridgeway
Hey! My grandma was his neighbor and was very close to him. He stabbed a kid while they were playing in the yard to see what it would feel like. He also begged her to go out and to go to the dance together. I’m so glad she wasn’t one of his victims! Me and her always love watching the videos about him. So thank you for this video to watch with her!💞

my husband grew up off of "pac hwy" in the 80's on 299th street. he moved down to me, in oregon, in the 00s. when you said 199th and pacific highway aka pac hwy, i kind of like belched out "OMG." he heard me from the other room, "whaaaaaaat?" i come back, "i didn't realize how close you were to gary ridgeway!" "oh yeaaa, i use to have nightmares about it." omg, you just brought up the red lion...dude, i've heard some many stories from husband regarding his MOTHER going there for drinks to meet up with other men.
always a hauntingly odd feeling living near where these cases took place, and a reminder to stay vigilant (and not to be that washingtonian but it is pronounced ee-num-claw)
Notice that article says 49 victims, implying Judy Ridgeway supported him up until and after the additional charge in 2003. Judy will ALSO rot in Hell. Edit: So will the POS cops that never charged him for strangling that sex worker "because she bit him" (Why'd she bite you, GARY?), and the cops who didn't pursue Marie Mulver's case. Obviously.
he is sick, i kept thing that "oh this is the last victim" and kris would say "the next victim is.." i can't even picture what those girls went throw...
I do appreciate the use of, "ladies of the night"! If it helps, my mother always used "streetwalker" when I was growing up (her first language isn't English, and she's a boomer lol). Ridgway was an unremarkable human being, yet he pulled off more crimes than a Bundy or a Gacy. His IQ is significantly lower than that of Ed Kemper, but as dating has taught me, mama's boys are ticking time bombs. Love the deep dive, thanks for covering this oft-forgotten killer!

EDIT: Hope she doesn’t mind me outing her as a terrific teacher but her name is Ellen Glasser :)
OMG THANK YOU FOR COVERING THIS! I’ve been asking! I live so close to one of his dumps sites and he is still talked about here in Washington . I took a course a criminal psyc class in college and we got to read one of the transcripts from one of his Interviews and it was fascinating. He is such a sick individual! No one ever seems to cover his case and I’m so excited that you did!
No one seems to cover his case? He is one of the most renowned serial killers of all time.
I lived in the general area before and often heard stories about this guy. So cool that Kris is covering this story since not a lot of crime and mystery channels do.
Me too, my mom’s two older brothers went to high school with the green river killers kids.
@@Java1970I assume they meant that those who discuss prolific serial killers like Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer, even Wuornos often don’t or barely cover Rigway.
@@Java1970 Renowned seems like a bad word here... notorious would be better.

(Also I love how she covers them, I always feel so much better about the fictional problematic favs- _still_ gonna side eye the Hannibal fandom, though.)
Weird - very, very weird.
My heart goes out to all these women in the afterlife, I hope that they were able to find peace after their untimely passing. There's a special place in hell for people like Gary. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge all the victims, we love you sm!

I’ve learned more about serial killers from kris than any other TH-cam channel ❤
this depends on if you actually have watched other serial killer youtube videos though

Sad - there are so many other channels dedicated to this topic that do a much better and respectful job.
Rotten mango….
@ what does that mean
I think the scariest thing about Gary Ridgeway is how normal he comes across!!! 😨 I mean keeping photos and toys of his son in his truck to calm women down is just wild to me and terrifying. It's mind blowing that killers like him, the BTK and Happy Face Killer are/were all fathers with double lives!!! 😳
I think it really needs to be put out there that Serial Killers generally look normal and not what is portrayed in Horror Movies.
Scooby Doo taught us the bad guy isn’t really the bogey man we think they should look like- unfortunately they look just like your neighbor.
@@jordy1007x True but unfortunately Scooby Doo isn't around anymore!!! Loved that show!!! ❤️
Story recommendation! ❤
Please cover Joseph Edward Duncan he was absolutely horrific and tore my town apart at a young age. He's my version of your Robert Pickton although wasn't nearly as successful THANK GOD because the thing he did were somehow worse 😭
I went to school with a survivor of his cruelty her name is Shasta Groene she watched the majority of her family be gruesomely murdered. He had previously killed in California before coming here to Idaho, he took Shasta and her brother to Montana and did unspeakable things to them. Only Shasta survived. No one ever covers him and I'd love to hear a deep dive and learn about his other victims.
I LIVE IN TACOMA CLOSE TO WHERE ALL THIS HAPPENED AND I HAD NO IDEA THANK YOU AUNTIE KRIS FOR OPENING MY EYES
You know Ted Bundy was born and raised in Tacoma, and his mom still lives there.
@ Yes I’ve heard stories from my grandmother, she was friends with his little sister
Hi neighbor
Real I'm up in everett 😭
My mum went to the same bar he used to hang out at some times and met him a few times.
Speaking of killing it, your detective skills are amazing who cares that the information is all previously published!
Our favorite detective is on the case!
i LOVE the fact she went with the whole green theme on this. the lights in the background, her shirt, they all tie to the title, its really cool
So incredibly weird.
it’s a good day Kris posted

LMAO THESE THREE REPLIES HAVE ME ROLLING 😭
I love finding comments like this, because often times we forget that these serial killers actually had (most of the time) a "normal life"... Scary.
@JahoonlaChalamet-m4v yeah my grandma was young when she worked with him (she had kids young) it's scary to think that she could have been one of the victims
I was friends with his son. What a crazy story. I thought he was joking at first.

Please 🙏 xx

Me and the wife watched that. Kinda crazy how many there have been from Ohio. I hope your whole family is doing ok. Best of luck to you all
Wait which episode? My ex and I used to watch Evil Lives Here but we never finished it (sadly)
Scary fact. My best friend‘a mother was in the Seattle area during his decades long spree. She attended a party and someone had brought their cousin to try and get him to be social. It was HIM! She said he made her feel uneasy at best and she ended up leaving the party early because he creeped her out.
Holy cow! 🐮
These kind of people make me sick. Thats why people are scared to go out at night. Bc of this sick person
And men wonder why women are so “paranoid”.
My dad works with a woman whose sister was murdered by him, she had a bad home life and ran away to get away from it, and she just never returned.
My aunt is one of these victims. She was 16 year old. My father, her brother, was never the same when he found out what happened to her. Personally I this he should go through everything he did to those girls. But my father is a better man, he forgave Ridgeway.

I did not too long ago! But I’ll do another!
That chick was amazing! What a survival story ❤@@kallmekris
36:10 has anyone checked on his son to make sure he’s ok?
I grew up in maple valley. Ridgeway has impacted the whole state in such a negative way. He is currently rotting in Walla Walla penitentiary. Apparently he wanted out of solitary confinement and was asked to be transferred to Colorado in which the state agreed until the family members of the victims along with the general public were outraged and demanded he get sent back to Walla Walla, and go back into solitary confinement. I haven’t fact checked any of this but he is talked about often within the state.
I got some news, they moved him to king county closer to Seattle earlier this year.
You know someone is absolutely evil when a majority of the video is just the list of victims found SO FAR

Out of all the serial killers you've discussed, this guy is the most creepy and chilling. The videos of him speaking brings chills to my spine. There is something extra cold and creepy about him.

YESS AN HOUR LONG TRUE CRIME
