Great review, Emily! I bought my pair at the NYC Marathon expo and loved the shoes so much that I ran both the Abbott Dash and the marathon with zero regrets (they didn’t help with that heat though 🤨). I was going to run in the Supercomp Trainer, but these really spoke to me. I’d been running in the Metaspeed Sky for shorter races, so the Superblast felt a bit familiar.
As others are expressing, so glad you feel well again. Thanks for reviewing this shoe. My favorite Novoblast 3 has been taking some heavy hits. Seth gave it a dismal 6.6 while V2 got a 8+!! However, as you say, it's all up to us as to what we like. As many are expressing, the price is a killer diller for me.
Anyone else besides Seth, Ray? I may have missed Emily’s review, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in one YT-er's review, especially Seth’s. He has had some unique (in the literal sense) opinions in the past, which makes the case for everyone to be watching and reading many opinions to draw a consensus-- and most importantly trying for yourself! A lot of people disagree with his rating system anyway. Like you, I love the NovaBlast 3 and it’s the 1st one I’ve been able to purchase. The previous models just felt awkward on me when I tried them on. Cheers, Martha
@@Martha-fluterunner In the end, my own opinion is what matters to me. Reviewers provide us with guidelines like movie critics. Emily, Tim Grose (UK), and Brendon Camm as well as others gave the Novoblast 3 solid marks as a daily trainer but it didn't wow them like Kofuzi and Believe in the Run and others. As for me, if I could only have one shoe, it would be the Novoblast 3.
Pronation seems natural and not excessive. Curious if it softens up a bit and gets a bit more lateral movement. Price puts it in an odd bracket. I think I'm just gonna go with a heavily discounted Invincible run v2 for my upcoming marathon mileage workhorse. Since I have tons of tempo to race day options, and all my daily shoes are getting long in the tooth/KMs. Thanks for the review!
Glad your felling better from covid great review. Something you might want to try new balence 990 v6 I got it to try vs version 5 diffrent it looks hoka esk the mid is in mine comparing to v5 a quarter inch more narrow but the v6 feels like it propels you forward unlike v5 maybe worth a look not shure I'm going with it but just some info and it comes with extra set of diffrent color laces. And hi ruby where ever you are
Just ordered a pair of Superblasts. Looking forward to trying them. Yesterday I had the Adidas prime x strung delivered so I'm eating beans and bread for a month!!! Currently nursing a sore hip, so I'm buying more shoes!!!! How does that work?! 🤣
The nimbus has the same issue with slick rubber - not sure what’s up with their outsoles this year, but all their shoes are slippery, regardless of rubber coverage.
220 for a daily trainer..., that is not more durable than normal shoes..., that works if you run so little that they will dryrot before you wear them out but for a normal runner if you use it as your only shoe it will wear out quite quickly so you will pay a lot for shoes compared to a reasonable rotation even if you put a SuperBlast in it next to some other shoes. I'm a big believer in a shoe rotation and I have more expensive shoes than that, but the shoe needs to deliver some special value for me to justify that kind of price, like a Pebax carbon racer. There are so many cheaper options and often discounts if you wait for e.g. Nike to discount the Invincible (if you want Superfoam recovery/long run shoe) or you consider last years version. And not only is it cheaper but you can also get much better shoes for each purpose than the jack of all trades but master of (n)one.
Exactly! I am not going to pass on SuperComp/ SuperBlast but I am going to grab them next year at a discounted price. In the meantime, Invincible 1 or 2 looks very tempting. I might even buy a pair of RC elite V2 now that versions3 of invincible & rc elite are out, v2 prices are falling.
With a military discount I can get the Superblast and NB SC trainer for the same price (around $135). Which would you go for if the price were the same? I’m interested in a long run shoe, something fun to run in, and a shoe that could also be used for a HM or Marathon (like you did with the SC Trainer).
Asics, Saucony, and New Balance had the best year in 2022 imho. Easily the best three brands this year. They each released banger after banger. And Asics, Saucony, and New Balance all kicked Nike's ass this year (sorry swoosh fanboys and fangirls),
The height of these shoes front and back is actually 2 millimeters lower than the New Balance SC Trainer. Your shrinking! Your going to need a step stool or Boban Marjanovic now to reach the top shelf.
Is it only the ‘reviewers’ that find this a slippery shoe?.. Yet to find another runner who says the blast is slightly slippery! Most of the gang I run with are 80kg plus and all find the novablast a perfect cushy, spring shoe and it’s another that divides opinion regarding you tube reviews.. Maybe heel - midfoot strikers and forefoot strikers and lightweights find difference.. If that’s the case why don’t reviewers talk their weight and preferred strike? .. ASICS for kings, saucony for queens 🎉 Thanks 🙏🏻
Too much, Emily. Companies can justify high prices when a shoe has a plate, but I don't think the midsole material makes it worth that crazy price. Too bad. I was interested in it.
It's too expensive for what you are getting. It's too close to the carbon shoe price. It uses existing race foam, which is relatively new, so no data on durability that I can find. I mean, I am an Asics guy who goes back to running in their shoes since the 80s and love them, but this shoe seems like a money grab. And I know a lot of TH-cam shoe reviewers are being bought out by the shoe manufacturers, but please resist. Thanks for your review .
Way too expensive. Hard to justify this shoe without a carbon plate when far more capable Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 is just $5 more. NB FreshFoam More V4 to run easy/recovery at $150. Endorphin Speed 3 is a very capable do-it-all shoe at $170.
on paper. it has 45mm stack. but youre only getting at max 35mm of premium ff turbo judging how thick the bottom layer EVA is. My opinion overpriced and deceitful pricing
Great to see you back in the saddle Emily!! Thanks for another great review. Stay well!!

Definitely on my wishlist. Big Asics fan.

I love seeing your dog inch closer to the sunshine 🌞 How do they compare to new balance v4 more?

100% nailed it. I too was disappointed with the Novablast 3…. Wasn’t what everyone was saying for me. I’m guessing Superblast is softer.

@@RunLikeHeller side (and more important) note - I’m so glad you’re feeling better!!
How would you compare superblast vs the SC trainer from NB? We need a show battle!
I can do a comparison! But I like the sc trainer a bit better

Could it be used for race day on a marathon?? ❤️✌️🏴
I definitely think so! It doesn’t have a plate but if you’re looking for a fun comfortable shoe, this would be one to look at

great review Em as always...nb more v3 or v4?
V4 overall!
Now that you’ve had the superblasts for awhile are you still reaching for them and making them a regular part of your rotation?
Yes! I actually ran 8.5 in them today!

I’d go with the sc trainer!
I love my superblast’s. Great long run shoe and nice even at quicker paces. They are seeming very durable, so that’s good.
Emily, how is the flexibility - is it really stiff like the plated shoes or does it bend a bit, esp. when climbing hills?
It’s less stiff than a carbon plated shoe but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly flexible
@@RunLikeHeller Understood - thanks!
hey!!! how would you compare these to the Hokas Rincon 3? im training for the Houston Marathon and my nikes are worn out.
I’d go with these for sure. More cushion, more bounce. Going to feel a lot better in those later miles of a marathon
@@RunLikeHeller That is exactly what i'm looking for :') those later miles. thank you so much
This or the NB Supercomp Trainer v1?

I’m wearing one of their crews. It’s pretty old though. I tried to find it on the website but it didn’t come up. I can link it though if I find!

Ehh I’d say this runs a little longer
