Hands down the best Thanksgiving film - the awkwardness, the humor, the natural acting that made you feel like you were spying on a real life family going through some stuff. The scene at the end with her father - so good.
Watched this last night like I always do every Thanksgiving....coming from a dysfunctional family I can relate....so many great moments.....the chemistry between Robert Downey and Holly Hunter was amazing.... Robert Downey going thru his drug addictions at the time, he was so hilariously off the wall here.....I can't say enough good things about this film....everyone in the cast was great....this is for anyone like me who didn't come from a happy 50's Leave It To Beaver home life....
I love this movie so much for similar reasons ... it makes me cry and laugh .. bu I cry more for some reason ... every single year have to watch it ... why the heck it’s not on Netflix irks me

I know what you mean! It's definitely a well done film. Something about it, the house the dialogue between the family members just feels so authentic and realistic. Like I'm a fly on a wall in someone's real Thanksgiving get-together
I just read the article about this movie and Jodie pulling RDJ aside to tell him, “Look, I couldn't be more grateful for what you've given in this film. But I'm scared of what happens to you next. Right now you are incredibly good at balancing on the barstool. But it's really precarious, and I'm not sure how that's going to end."
Discovered this last year on regular TV and it had already started but I was drawn in and had to watch it. This is an amazing movie everyone is at the top of their game but I have to say in my opinion Robert Downey Jr just kind of steals the film. I've been alone since my mother died when I was 15 with no brothers or sisters and dad leaving when I was only three. I carried this weight around in my heart that not having a family was was the reason that my life turned out so bad. Movies like this remind me that being part of a family isn't always sunshine and roses.
I know everyone has their own opinion but to the people who are saying this was boring....you either have no idea what it’s like to live in a dysfunctional family or you’ve been so desensitized by all the “action-thriller-adrenaline” bullshit the studios pump out (a dime to the dozen) that you can’t appreciate or enjoy a great story / acting if your life depended on it.

This is every American family on thanksgiving 🦃🇺🇸 we stopped getting together 10 years ago, my nephews an asshole and the millennials are weird and my brothers and sisters are crazy, having canned ravioli today,, Miss you mommy, tomorrow would have been her birthday too 1937-2004 🌹
Absolutely love this movie. Filmed in Baltimore City and I lived in Baltimore County. So that’s kinda cool. I recognize that cemetery where Holly is walking…I’ve seen it in the city. It’s huge. My friend’s daughter is even an extra in the parade crowd scene. The dysfunction is so believable…the cast is superb. I love everything about it. Jodie Foster is amazing. Thank you Jodie. Just feels comforting at the end. Each wing of the family has their own little family and they’re happy. ❤️❤️❤️
Very bland movie. Not enough character investment to care about their back stories. Too much commotion and clutter of story in the scenes. A lot of big names, but no one had chemistry. They just over acted to do their best to make you think they actually were a family. This feels like a big story squeezed into a short movie.
🤷VERY CONTRIVED....I must admit..BUT Thankfully I watched it while playing Alvin and the chipmunks music playing in the Background...and had a recorded Loop of "BEEP-BEEP" from "Natural Born Killers" playing Adjacent (All the While Smoking a JEFFRY)...& I'll be Damned .. it worked for me!!!🤪🤗💯..... Actually I Suggest this movie as a Double Feature with " FEAR & LOATHING".....👋👋HAPPY HOLIDAYS...🧐..🤨At least I think🤔.
