I grew up in the 60s and 70s and this depicts those times and memories perfectly. No Internet or cell phones ... just you and your friends making up your own fun as the summer rolled along. I wish I had a time machine because I wouldn't give 2023 a second glance. ✌❤➡
Yeah there’s some kids in this generation I said they wish they grow back then even though they love the technology but they still say they wish I had a child like that instead of just staying in the house playing games all day and truth be told if they didn’t have all this technology the other because more outside and be like this
A warmth around my heart this movie brings... So many childhood memories.. Me and my friends used to have a childhood like this , without technology and just playing on the street all day long on summer.. Riding our bikes, singing, making “movies” and “concerts” and who knows what else.. We were so blessed and happy to be growing up in 90s. I believe it was the last decade we could have been old school children. There was no wifi, smartphones, selfies, fake lives made on fb and instagram, we were just out there playing and dreaming... We were out there being KIDS! Oh how I wish those times could come back. I still dream of going to video store to borrow a movie and just living that simplicity we once had.. Silly I know..Who knows, maybe we wake up one day from a matrix and start living true lives once again. Ahh, we grew up so fast didn’t we..?!? ☺️ Anyway.. God bless you all.. And kids, if you’re reading this: GO OUT AND PLAY!! Life is fantastic! ❤️
i am still a kid and i try and go outside as much as i can! i ride my bike to my friend’s and stay there all day, go to this creek in our neighbourhood with them, and the snow cone shop or theater! my dad grew up as living like this so he lets me, but my mom didn’t so she doesn’t let me go too far, but still, at least i get some freedom. some kids my age aren’t allowed to even go too far in their neighbourhood because their parents think it’s too dangerous and the kids just play on their devices all day because they have nothing better to do. (i only do if it’s too cold or my friends can’t come) yes, it might be more dangerous than it used to be, but i thinks girls and boys my age should just have fun like me.
I was exactly the same!! Born in 1982 and so I was a 90’s teenager…just turned 14 in 1995 the year this was in cinemas in the UK. My girly friends and I spent the summers riding our bikes, singing as we rode! No internet and mobile phones, social media etc like now!!x
I was also born in 1989! Not a twin myself (my mom is one though) and I would watch this with my older sister and mom. We enjoyed it. It brings back memories of my childhood as well as wishes that my childhood bestie had lived closer to us. So many great memories!
I still remember the weekend I rented this movie from Blockbusters! I loved it so much and watched it multiple times until we had to return it. Then got the DVD and soundtrack. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Still love it at 32!
I miss my childhood in the 60's and 70's in Scandinavia; it was WONDERFUL❤ We lived in an apartment in an area that was new built, lots of kids around the same age, we all played together both girls and boys but also faught with the boys in between. No one ran to complain to the parents when someone hit or kicked too hard, we didn't even tell our parents, it was OUR fights and we knew anything could happen! We spyed on each other in the basements, long dark corridores, we were forbidden to be there but it was so much fun, we didn't even know about pedos or kidnappers, but sometimes we had to run real fast and hide, when someone was chasing us. Now as adults in our fiftys' and sixties', some of us still hang together and it is SO fun to remember our childhood❤
This movie is iconic with a killer soundtrack. I remember a friend showing me this when I was a kid back in 1999 and it stuck with me for over a decade until I found it again after many attempts of searching for it because I didn’t know the name of it lol
My best friend and I must have watched this movie together about 5 thousand times during the summer between 7th and 8th grade 💕 I'm sure we both still know the entire film by heart
@Allison Marie he keeps commenting on about all of these saying negative things. Like someone else said, one of the girls in it must have rejected him. lol.
This film reminds me of the long hot summers and the long lost friends of childhood... Days spent jumping in rivers and back yard pools, knock knock ginger (knock, knock, run) Ackey 123 (forty forty touch) Calling childline from payphones, making rope swings anywhere dangerous and waterslides on any bank... and trekking to blockbuster for evenings watching films like this, homeward bound & stand by me. 🤣
‘As we grow older, it becomes difficult to just believe. It’s not that we don’t want to, but too much had happened and we can’t’ 🩷 still love this movie so much!
Havent seen this since 1995. Was a excellent movie. Sad that it doesnt get shown as often as Stand By Me or The Sandlot does as it fits perfectly with these 2 classics as well.
what's weird is I remember reading somewhere that they dated, but I highly doubt that because Christina said a year or two ago that there was no story at all to tell about him or working with him etc...
Millennials are very lucky. We grew up at a time when there’s no internet yet and was able to experience this kind of childhood and friendships. And a new era ushered us into adulthood. We have movies like this to remind us of simpler times and how far we’ve come.
I’m the youngest out of 3. The only male. My 2 older sisters introduced me to this movie and I grew to love it. Now that I have 2 daughters I finally have 2 legitimate excuses on why to buy this movie and show it to my Wife lol Yay.
I had a childhood like this. I feel like as a millennial we grew up with technology and the outside. I was born in the end of the 80s and so I remember being thrown outside and fighting my cousin and friends. Riding my bike and skateboard and running amok about my backyard. Than finished the day off with some video games on Sega.
Spectacular! Love this movie with Christina Ricci Thora Birch Gaby Hoffmann Ashleigh Aston Moore Melanie Griffith Demi Moore Rosie O'Donnell Rita Wilson
I honestly wish it was still the way it was back then. The internet has improved some things, but I think if there weren't smartphones it would be nicer. So computers yes, smartphones no. lol.
even though I was born in 2007, growing up this was my all time favorite movie and still very much is. I first watched this around the age of 5/6 (It was introduced to me by my mom who was born in 1986) and I just repetitively kept doing so lol. I also just loved the "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies, because my nickname was Suga, so I always thought the guy in the song was singing it to me when I was like 5 😂.. I just remember around the age of 6/7 riding my bike down my neighborhood blocks singing that one song from the bike scene over and over everyday that I almost convinced myself I was living in the 70s-90s. I've for some reason always been attracted to movies from the 80s and 90s growing up that I sometimes believe that I was alive back then and reincarnated into who I am now lol.
Kathryn the Kawaii Strawberry sadly your generation and the younger generation will NEVER know this movie.. It's a great movie, and my generation will always remember this movie
Nicolette Ursch yeah, and like I said, not every skinny child grows up to be skinny and the only reason you think they don’t go together is because Rosie is fat. 🙄
Definitely a unique movie even tho I always felt it was just another stand by me clone but despite that I did feel this movie had a incredible personality all its own and forever will
Seen this many times over the years. Great coming-of-age flick. Sad to think that Ashleigh Aston Moore who played the young Chrissie died a number of years back.

I've always thought it was sad because thinking one day it gonna end.
@Mystic Exsactly what I thought when watching it.
I thought the same. Wishing for friendship that would be like that ah but it never happen oh well 😔
