Please don't ever give up because of the low counts, you have a gift, in video editing and the way you tell your story! Keep churning your travels out, the people you meet and the places you go to. I'm older and still learning from you and the people you meet. May safety follow you.
Ah! Another eagerly awaited production from Mr Shaw. As always, the softly-spoken gentleman never fails to delight and educate. Excellent stuff, thank you. Nige
Having just seen and watched your Capetown to Cairo video I subscribed and now watching with interest your excellent productions. The quality, content and your calm narrative is refreshing to see. Please keep them coming. Wish you safety and good health. Watching from Wales. 👍✌️
Greetings. Firstly, lovely to find another South African traveller online. Secondly, traveling by rail in the Balkans….very adventurous indeed. The craziness of the number of border crossings especially in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Where once there were interconnecting trains within the western balkans, much of that infrastructure was well and truly destroyed in the 1990’s. Lastly, great editing. Hey man, I never comment on videos but for some reason TH-cam recommended me your Cape Town to Cairo video. It was so great I subbed and watching this now. Hope my comment can play a small role in you appearing in more peoples feed. Great videos, keep it up!
My partner and I just watched your Cape to Cairo video and then this over the past two evenings. We love them and will watch anything you do! Thanks for making them, and thanks for taking the time to ask questions (and actually listen to what they have to say).
Wonderful video Neil....love every sec. It's real not like others....keep up the awesome work.....come ride in asia...I love trains but no courage to video them. I am your new subscriber from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
Thank you for sharing your travels with us, Neil. You are inspirational. I love travelling - and train travel and public transport is special for all the reasons you give. Turkey, Georgia and Albania were my original adventures. Keep up the good work and adventuures. from an old woman solo traveller based in WesternAustralia.😊
From watching the full Cape to Cairo train trip... to watching your 13 days, 7 countries... 6 trains... in the Balkins... thank you for taking me on this video holiday.... ❤🇿🇦
Hey just came across your channel. As someone who likes to travel in trains around the world, Why not a journey through india on the indian railways? One of the largest network of rail in the world!
I just find your channel and I love it ,and I subscribe already, I wish people find out about this amazing channel,I learn a lot how to look like the pleases you go , specially by train because I love travelling by train, thanks for all this beautiful videos
Just subscribed on your chanell.Like your style, and interacting with people. Keep doing interesting videos, and good luck in the future. Greetings from Germany from Croatian guy.
I enjoyed watching this video, really a nice documentary instead of a train service rating video which most in TH-cam are. Funny how noone in the Croatian train didn't want to talk to you on camera. And you made an interesting observation when you realised that when you came to Split, Croatia, you were actualy slowly leaving the typical Balkans and actualy crossed from the "touristy" Mediterranean towards Central Europe. Eventhough you spent a short time here, I hope you you liked Croatia :)
Nice video. I recommend to you for next visit Balkan countries, you need to explore more inside all this this countries, especialy ex Yugoslavia countries. They are beautiful.
Amazing video! The way you capture the people, their uniqueness, it's so captivating! I watch this for the second time now and I reckon I'll come back to it more and more! Same with the Cape to Cairo travelogue. What cameras do you use?
What kind of camera do you use? I had the impression that you used a very cheap old camera on your Africa trip for obvious reasons but it gave good footage.
I shot the Cape to Cairo documentary, and the Balkans video, using my Sony CX550 High Def camcorder. I bought it new in 2010 (not cheap, but not professional level either) and it is still going strong. A quality product.
its like saying "Traveling Across the USA" and then proceeding to get a flight from NYC to LA, visit albania and then we'll talk about you having visited the balkans
There are currently no functioning trains in Albania. I know because I went there too. The documentary has a train theme, so that is why Albania is not included.
Were there any issues going from Serbia into Kosovo and then back into Serbia? I thought that was a no-no. As others have said your Cape Town to Cairo video was rivetting. Keep up the great work!
Thanks. No, if you enter Serbia (from anywhere except Kosovo) and then enter and exit Kosovo (with a valid Serbia stamp) there is no issue. That is because as far as Serbia is concerned, you never left Serbia. It is not possible to enter Kosovo from another country (i.e. not Serbia) and to then try and enter Serbia. That is because Serbia does not recognise Kosovo.
I like your videos, however, I wish you would show more of the scenery (perhaps while you're interviewing people, instead of keeping the camera on them the entire time, you could pan out the window?)

Thanks for your message! I shoot on a "vintage" Sony CX550 (2010 model)... Watch this space for my next videos soon!
I enjoyed your video. I'm wondering how long did you spend in each city? Thanks
Thanks. It was a whistle-stop tour and city stops were approximately 24 hours each...
What kind of camera do you use? I had the impression that you used a very cheap old camera on your Africa trip for obvious reasons but it gave good footage.

Might have been worth saying that you can't get to Kotor by train?
I like your videos, however, I wish you would show more of the scenery (perhaps while you're interviewing people, instead of keeping the camera on them the entire time, you could pan out the window?)
Hello do you have an Instagram page? Thanks
Hi. No, I don't...
How capitalism makes you greedy and selfish. Great videos, something bewitching about being a fly on the wall through NS travels.
Across the balkans without visiting albania???? lol you are crazy bro
❤
