Will this increase back pressure on the main line before the valve? I am having trouble with my pump cycling between the high and low pressure trips. Will this level out the pressure felt along the main or just make the high pressure trips worse due to back pressure build up?

Hard to say without knowing more about your setup; type of pump, location, elevation, pump controls, etc. The fix could be as simple as changing the settings on the pressure switch.
If you haven’t already, it might be worth installing a pressure gauge on the mainline, then watching it as your pump cycles on/off.
You may have a pump that is oversized for the amount of flow (size of your zones). Running 2 zones at the same time could help.
If you have high pressure, adding a pressure relief valve could help.

If the PGV valve already has a flow control, what do you need the Accu-Sync for?

Although the flow control will have an effect on the pressure, it is designed to control the volume of water, but not regulate the pressure. It will also change the speed at which the valve closes. If you’re running low volume of water through a larger valve, this can be a helpful way to prevent the valve from sticking, among other things.
