Hey Chris! great video as always! A little correction if you don't mind, probably was just slip of the tongue ;) At 11:00 you say that Podmic and Shure Sm7B need phantom power, however they do not! Those are dynamic microphones that don't require any power to work, unless you are using them with some kind of mic booster (Cloudlifter, Fethead etc.) which actually require phantom power to boost the signal of your microphone.
Thank you for this correction. It did slip my mind and also while rewatching - probably because I have seen them be used with Cloudlifters so much and then there you have phantom power active 🙈. I'll leave a note in the video description.
I enjoyed this video as well as the one comparing the H5. I've been thinking about buying something to do some oral history recording with my mother. Seems like the Podtrak P4 is the one to go with for my very simple use case. Thanks for doing these reviews!
You'd have to purchase a headphone splitter or headphone multiplier so that you get the signal form the F6 to multiple headphones. And, of course everybody would hear everything then (meaning themselves included which is better for podcast recording anyways).
Great Comparison - just the video I was looking for. I am still unable to make up mind completely, I just got two Shure Sm7b's and I am on the hunt for a nice audio recorder /interface that can work with sm7b's without the need for a cloudlifter. Do you think Podtrak P4 is good enough to be used without cloudlifters for youtube podcast and voice overs for youtube videos or should I invest more and get something like the Zoom f6? The cost difference is huge but I want it to be future proof. I am not an audio pro but I do want to get the best quality out of the Sm7bs as I have already spent a lot on them and my camera and I also want my podcasts to sound extremely professional, so I do not want the audio interface to be the weak point. I am totally against using cloudlifters as I feel they are too expensive and I do not want to keep buying them for every mic that I add to my setup. I am planning on hosting more than 2-3 people on my podcast soon so I want it to be future proof. I currently have the Tascam Dr-40 which I have been using since 10 years now for other purposes but it has poor preamps and I don't think i can use with Sm7b. Also, I have looked at Tascam Dr-701D, the EIN and gain value looks similar to F6 but I am not sure how good it will translate to real world use as there is hardly anyone who has used it with Sm7b. I am also open to other audio interface suggestions and here are my basic requirements: 1. Should have 3-4 inputs 2. Excellent Preamps to work with Shure Sm7b without the need for a cloudlifter 3. Under $500 4. Good to have but not a must - ability to record on SD card. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. It lights up my day and is greatly appreciated.
If you did a multiperson podcast with the F6 can you set it up that everyone has headphones?
