@@missyrose2154 I've met people who were a part of cults. I've met those people who have done things that seem weird, or even wrong and fucked up. I have seen those same people, be completely changed joining and leaving. When your desperate for something, something crucial and needed, to be wanted or to want, you will do anything. doesn't matter how bad it is. John taught Malvo everything he knew, and told him who to kill. There is a reason to why John was sentenced to death. A damn good reason, But there's a reason to why Malvo wasn't. John literally had maps of where they would go next. I myself am going into psychology and I hope to specialize in criminal and developmental. I don't even know much compared to my teachers and other's I have learned from and I can tell you there is a very high chance Malvo feels sorry to put it lightly and bluntly. This unfortunate case is another example of tragedies and things that could have been stopped if people sleeked help, or were recognized as needing help early. Not to at all insinuate that Malvo didn't do anything bad and it's John's fault because at the end of the day your actions are you. Your decisions are you; it's very narrow minded to immediately say if your idol told you to kill someone you wouldn't compared to Malvo, considering Malvo was traumatized from childhood, looking at his past and mother, I'm actually surprised he was so quiet at school, and didn't have constant or recognizable anger issues at all.
Excuses, fake remorse. Must NEVER get parole. Btw, I grew up in Aspen Hill,Maryland and lived through this. I knew Chief Moose. He died this past Thanksgiving. Did you know this evil kid nearly escaped custody? Climbed into a ceiling at Rockville court. Caught.
I went to other videos of serial killers and there wasn't this much anger. I'm so confused by what is going on in this world. John Gacy killed 33 people but the comments weren't filled with anger. Wow just wow.
Did you expect him to cling to the idea that he is a cold callous murderer? If course you're going to turn introspective and think about all the pain you caused and that will change you. Just because he is locked up doesn't mean he can't understand and take ownership of what he did.
@@xymoriintus the thing is, you dont think about things after you did them, you contemplate what the effect of it would be on you and society; do a lot of damage and have this euphoric rush while doing it. So i'm not disagreeing with you because there are enough scenarios where a split decision is regretted ones entire life, and change does happen. Its just that you dont do that thing 13 times and then after being locked up (and only then) you are a changed man after ten years. He is not a changed man he is a chained man, the only thing restricting him from being a so called hunter, like he viewed himself, is the fact that even for a young man he is physically built like a prey, not a hunter. Once this man is released the only thing he will do is making sure he wont get caught and prey on even weaker humans, because now he knows his position in this world we call the animal kingdom.
Y’all saying “im 17 too” but aren’t in the same shoes as he is. You aren’t in the same position as this guy was, so stop acting like you’re more mature
One of my neighbors was maimed by this guy. She was a teacher at the school that was taken hostage and was apparently gravely wounded and is still dealing with the injuries
You know, I've been reading a lot of comments here and it's very clear that people are either on one side of the fence or that other about Lee Boyd Malvo. Just to be clear, Lee Boyd Malvo deserves what ever comes his way as a result of his participation in those horrible acts committed. I was a Track and XC runner in college at the time those murders took place and I remember full well how those murders affected the members of the XC/Track team. It was riveting but yet devastating. However, I also know that when a young person grows up without good role models and nobody who cares for them it can have a devastating impact on that person. The real world is a dynamic and a very complex environment and when there are no parents, no mentors to look up to, etc, etc, it can lead that young person down the wrong path. Again, I'm not making an excuse for what this guy did because wrong is wrong, but, you do have to acknowledge that there are certain life factors that play into causation. Simply saying "Fuck this guy we should just shot him in the head" is not going to solve the underlying causes. That is simply an emotional reaction to a problem that requires much deeper remedies. The solution starts with positive role models at home. There are millions of potential Malvos out there. Just look at our inner cities across our country where inner city teens are looking up to older gang members because they have no family that really cares! I know that I'll receive a bunch of hateful comments on here, but at age 39 I've seen and experienced people with hardcore leftest views and ultra-right wing views on various issues. I have enough life experience to know that having good parental role models greatly increases the chances that the child will live a successful and quality life as they grow older. Many studies have been done on this and have shown that to be true. Again, I'm not saying that Malvo should get a lighter sentence. What he did was absolutely wrong, but, I will concede that the dude didn't have much of a chance in life with Mohammed at the helm.
@@MattyIcecubes they recently re trailed him and Virginia rejected his parole, I personally think they should let him go after 20 year sentence but even if he gets out he's gonna be trialed in every other state so yea gg
I agree with so much of this. The one bit I'll have to quibble with is the insistence that "the solution starts with positive role models at home." I don't disagree that this is key, but this is why a HUGE investment in social work, CPS/DFCS/etc. departments, school lunch programs (*cough*andschoolsingeneral*cough*), and the foster care system is vital - along with Medicaid, WIC, SNAP (food benefits), TANF, and housing assistance. (Guaranteed paid family leave also wouldn't go amiss, but that's another battle altogether.) This is because 1) not everyone gets parents who are capable and/or willing to be even middling role models (a big shout out to my own mother, here! Abusive narcissists who hate their own children are a lot of fun to deal with, take it from me) and 2) there are people DO want to be there for their families, but since many are playing on an unequal field, they simply don't have the time or resources to invest in their children and tragic consequences occur. So many families could thrive if they had just a little bit of help, if day-to-day life were just a little bit less terrifying. (To be clear, I do NOT mean just funding. I mean dramatically increased staffing and significant and thorough training procedures too.) If we truly want to see change, we have to look to root cause of the situation at hand - if we can improve childhood across the board for as many as possible, then we could have a chance. I know that domestic security is important, but that we spend so much money developing better ways of killing people, and so little on our children is shameful in my eyes. There MUST be a way to keep the country safe from attack, while raising safer, happier generations. Unfortunately, I won't be holding my breath.
how many of these people actually lived in the dc area during october of 2002! it was pure true fear. from school to the gas station. worse then 9/11 in alot of ways because people died doing normal things.
I think what he's trying to say is that 9/11 was instant and one incident, or a group of incidents together. But this one was constant until it was resolved. Not going to compare, just trying to explain.
I lived in Northern Virginia growing up and it was extended fear for what felt like a long, long time. People ran from their cars going into the grocery store, ducking to get gasoline, etc. - 9/11 was absolutely terrible, but what weather7w meant was that 9/11 was a day of torment, sadness, and fear. but when the D.C sniper was running up and down I-95, we all lived in fear for an extended period of days. I would park my car to go into work in the same lot where he shot the victim at Michaels Craft store. You didn't know if you were going to get randomly sniped for like three weeks.
Growing up fatherless does not excuse your actions of failure as a human being but it also does not become invalid just because someone else turned out to be better. You had a mom but the world became your daddy. Do two random fatherless people gain the same experience from the world?
Just because he would not kill people today does not mean he is excused from the barbaric crimes he committed. Any sort of leniency towards these psychos would merely encourage other would-be killers. To free somebody like Malvo would be to say that, even if you go on a mass killing spree, you will be let out of prison when you realize you were wrong and apologize for what you've done. These men showed no mercy to the 13 people they shot, and they deserve absolutely no mercy in return.
Though I don't exactly feel remorse for Lee's actions, I feel bad for Lee himself. He was a 12 year old kid and had no one around literally. It's pretty harsh when the only figure you have is a psychopath. I believe Lee deserves a second chance at life, but he will need to GREATLY make up for what he did.
@@Rosary716not too mention the guy at 27 looks and sounds so much younger than most 20 year olds, so his development was even less than a typical 12-17 year old

He's gonna rot in a prison cell... Cold, Lonely, And growing old. The best years of his life, thrown away because he wanted innocent blood. It makes me sick.
If he is actually sorry then he would understand that he must face the consequences for his terrible actions wether that be death or life in prison. No one should feel sympathy for him no matter how much he says he has changed. Because he is still the person who killed those innocent people
He's not the definition of a monster. That's something somebody who has a big ego would say though. And showing a big ego for the media after doing what he did shows no genuine remorse. He wanted to sound poetic because he thinks his life is some kind of story or movie.
Everyone's life is a story. Movies usually have stories. He has no chance of getting out so he has nothing to gain here. I don't think he's trying to sell his story to anybody, it just happened.

There's a podcast called You're Wrong About that covers the exact reason for this. John Mohammed would give Lee 5 bullets and then tell him "dont come back til you kill xxxxx" and it was supposed to be at least 5 people. Problem is John is super abusive and also inconsistent. Lee says he didn't shoot a pregnant woman because there weren't any. With the sniper going on pregnant women were probably staying home. Lee would usually shoot a few people and then John would go "it's after lunch, I'm tired" and call it a day. I don't think Lee didn't kill a pregnant woman bc he drew a line, I think it was just the circumstances weren't right.
I forgive him. I even feel sorry for him. I mean I would love him to get out of prison. But he killed people. You can be in jail for life. But I can't say its his fault.
Yeah I think he is a nice kid too. At least he did not disobey his father > I give him credit for that. I mean if I didn't listen to my father I would have been punished.

Because the only ones I feel sorry for are the victims of his senseless crimes . I think the courts need to just round up his age from 17 and 8 months to 18 and leave him exactly where he !
Yeah he's definitely a victim 🙄

That is if you're a halfway rational human being
@@xymoriintus the thing is, you dont think about things after you did them, you contemplate what the effect of it would be on you and society; do a lot of damage and have this euphoric rush while doing it.

@@XYZ_55 it is one thing in a war. It is another taking out civilians. One is killing, the other is murdering.
Stop with these, "i'm aware comments," you were not manipulated.
One of my neighbors was maimed by this guy. She was a teacher at the school that was taken hostage and was apparently gravely wounded and is still dealing with the injuries
he looks like a young Shane mosley
My mom was pregnant in Montogomery County at the time of the shootings, I'm gonna be thinking about that all day now.
They will let him out one day, but not until he's in his 60s or 70s.
@@MattyIcecubes they recently re trailed him and Virginia rejected his parole, I personally think they should let him go after 20 year sentence but even if he gets out he's gonna be trialed in every other state so yea gg
@@AM-nc5dd That's why I don't see him serving any less than 50 years. If he gets paroled anytime soon everyone else will line up to get him.
(Guaranteed paid family leave also wouldn't go amiss, but that's another battle altogether.)
This is because 1) not everyone gets parents who are capable and/or willing to be even middling role models (a big shout out to my own mother, here!
I mean dramatically increased staffing and significant and thorough training procedures too.)
If we truly want to see change, we have to look to root cause of the situation at hand - if we can improve childhood across the board for as many as possible, then we could have a chance. I know that domestic security is important, but that we spend so much money developing better ways of killing people, and so little on our children is shameful in my eyes. There MUST be a way to keep the country safe from attack, while raising safer, happier generations. Unfortunately, I won't be holding my breath.
I totally agree. You are a rational person.
how many of these people actually lived in the dc area during october of 2002! it was pure true fear. from school to the gas station. worse then 9/11 in alot of ways because people died doing normal things.
People died doing Normal things in 9/11??
U r dumb if you think that shit is worse than 9/11
I think what he's trying to say is that 9/11 was instant and one incident, or a group of incidents together. But this one was constant until it was resolved. Not going to compare, just trying to explain.
pomstarSF 9/11 was definitely not instant
I lived in Northern Virginia growing up and it was extended fear for what felt like a long, long time. People ran from their cars going into the grocery store, ducking to get gasoline, etc. - 9/11 was absolutely terrible, but what weather7w meant was that 9/11 was a day of torment, sadness, and fear. but when the D.C sniper was running up and down I-95, we all lived in fear for an extended period of days. I would park my car to go into work in the same lot where he shot the victim at Michaels Craft store. You didn't know if you were going to get randomly sniped for like three weeks.
“Love the ones you feel deserve it the least because they need it the most.” -Aaron Stark
Growing up fatherless does not excuse your actions of failure as a human being but it also does not become invalid just because someone else turned out to be better.

A pregnant woman? Were they going to stake out an OBGYN office?
