    Try using ear cleaning solution!
    Rub it in, use a wipe after. Sometimes people go to deep with the q-tips and can hurt their little bones and ear drum. Not saying you do but check it out!

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I dip the q-tips in the ear cleaning solution! Sometimes now I just use a pet wipe and wipe their ear with the wipe first and then clean up with the q-tip if I didn’t get it all. Sometimes they just lick each others ears and I’m like hey this is perfect hahahaha

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey sorry I never saw this! My allergies were super runny itchy eyes and hives. Trouble breathing if I slept somewhere where cats were. In the beginning I had issues with my sphynx too but it’s mostly gone away. I get the odd itchy eyes here and there and sometimes hives if they sleep on me and they’re all sweaty. But it definitely got better over time as my body became accustomed to them. I’d recommend some sort of allergy pill if you’re still not accustomed to it by now

  • @kitsune0rei
    @kitsune0rei ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been curious about sphynx cats, my husband is very allergic to anything with hair, especially cats. Like the doctor was wow I haven't seen such a big reaction before ^_^; I'm curious how bad his reaction would be to hairless mammals like sphynx cats or hairless rats. He gets reactions just from hugging his daughter, who has cats at her apartment.
    My cat passed before we met, and I've just had reptile pets currently since I was missing having some pets.

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately I'd say that's probably too severe of an allergy for hairless animals. I am allergic to sphynx cats still, I've just developed a stronger immunity to them over time and it has helped with regular cats too. But the allergy is still there because they are not truly "hypoallergenic". My best bet would be to find someone in your area who has a sphynx cat and have him go over, hold the cat, put his face on it, breathe in deeply, etc (without taking allergy pills) so that you can test it out. I hope it works out!!

    • @kitsune0rei

      @@SphynxCrochet Thanks!
      I actually wonder if I have a mild allergy, my dad is fairly allergic but had to learn to live with them for my stepmother, they just weren't allowed in the bedroom. I didn't have problems when I owned a cat, but I've noticed sometimes I seem to react to other folks cats.
      So far I don't know anyone locally with a sphynx, but I hope to find someone! I'd like to see what they're like anyway :)

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I pop them when they get them. To make it hurt less you can use a warm wet compress and just hold it on the area before popping for about 5 mins. It’ll help open the pores and sometimes it’ll open on its own. I know that’s true for pimples, not specifically black heads though. Maybe you could try gently rubbing the area with an exfoliating mitt after the compress

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. Nasty poop smell, try switching to a raw diet, it helps alot. Or add litter deodorizer into the litter box. As for the spraying, my male was neutered before he came home, therefore he’s never sprayed. Try neutering him, it might help. But sometimes once they’ve started spraying it’s too late and they won’t stop even when neutered because they’ve formed a habit :/

    Great video. HA Mine are still terrible. OH well. Your kitties are so sweet and yu have taught them well to mostly enjoy being cared for. O also use the wood pellets for my litter boxes. pitch the sawdust out on my yard and send the poop off. It was not hard to switch them over. And even though they do kick some of the pellets out at times it is nothing like having to dea with the sandy cay litter.

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes! They do still kick some out but it’s soooo much better than constantly sweeping the clay litter. It was so dusty, tracking all over our couch, bed, chairs, etc. And it can’t be good for their lungs if it’s that dusty, let alone ours too! Plus the clay used to get stuck in their little toe beans and we’d get pieces of litter all over the house. I finally couldn’t take it anymore!

    • @shadesofidaho
      @shadesofidaho 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SphynxCrochet Totally agree. The pellets are so much nicer and easier to get. I noticed the clay litter flies off the shelves right now. My friend with 20+ cats has open request from me if I ever get down to walmart and there is her brand of litter on the shelf to buy it up for her. For her running out of litter is a disaster.

    One of the misconceptions ppl have on allergies is that when you are allergic to something you should avoid is at all costs.
    While that might be true with the more extreme cases, the type of allergies that just cause sneezes and mild symptoms are fine and you shouldn't avoid the causes of the symptoms because the longer you go without the allergies being triggered the worse its going to get, while if you don't avoid it and get some controlled exposure your body will adapt and in some cases you might even be cured of the allergy so to speak.

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very true! I was quite allergic to cats before getting my first Sphynx. At the beginning with him I’d wake up with hives all over my chest and stomach every day but over time it got so much better. I’m even able to be around regular cats now without issues. You should take your cat to a Veterinarian Dermatologist and see if they can help. Our cat has a skin issue (excessive grooming etc) and it's been very hard to find a solution for years. Good luck.

    • @SphynxCrochet
      @SphynxCrochet  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm, pimples shouldn’t be causing itching, unless they’re just super oily and that’s what’s causing the itching. I know when my oldest was a baby he had to take allergy pills so he would stop scratching. I gave him 2.5mg of reactine a day, as that is what the vet recommended. Definitely talk to your vet about that though! If you’re bathing too often too, that makes them more oily. As of this point, I don’t bathe them at all anymore unless they really stink. Maybe a bath once a year or something

      Hello! It’s really going to depend on where you’re located as breeders will charge different prices but expect to pay between 2000-3000$ CAD for a well bred sphynx. Some do sell for cheaper but chances are, the parent cats are not as well tested and their genetics won’t be as top quality.

    • @SphynxCrochet

      Nope! Only if they have diarrhea which isn’t too often. A raw diet helps their poops stay firm and less stinky so if that’s an option for you, then you’ll be fine. We don’t do raw and still don’t have any issues with that though. It’s just stinkier than if we did raw

    Never give a cat primarily dry food. They should be fed wet or raw twice a day and dry food should be just added to their treat balls or puzzle toys for enrichment. Dry food is extremely unhealthy and dehydrating. And when feeding wet food, check the ingredients to make sure they are healthy. Yes tiki cat is a great and healthy brand btw

    • @SphynxCrochet

But I work from home and their litter boxes are in my office so everytime they poop, I scoop right away to avoid too terrible of a smell. Be warned though, while the pellets are super convenient and not messy at all, they have no deodorizer so there’s nothing to deal with that smell.
