Correction: she is 12 weeks old, not 8 weeks!
Oh, she's a kitten. I was going to comment how he acts like one.
She is adorable but I still protest the breeding of animals for appearance alone. I have lived with cats my entire life and some of them have been spectacular in appearance but only one was purebred (my childhood dog, my dad bred her for hunting but only once a year and she lived like a regular family dog).
Thank you for the correction! I always get a little concerned with people getting kittens under the age of 8 weeks, as it is still too young to remove them from their mothers/siblings and often leads to issues with socialisation!
@@bcaye Sphynx are actually quite healthy as a breed as long as they're properly cared for in terms of grooming and taking care to prevent sunburn. I get what you're saying but this isn't a breed that has ethical concerns as long as the owners keep up with their care appropriately.
@@robertmonroe9837 It can be if you are inexperienced and/or go too deep. I raise Persians and it's needed for their ears to be clean else they risk ear infections but you have to be hyper aware of their movements and reactions.
i think it's really nice that vanessa has branched out to grooming sweet baby goblins.
She does look like a little goblin, but a very sweet one.
😆
Goblins need love too.
I've always seem them referred to as gremlins.
It's Dobby!
This is actually a really good demonstration of how high maintenance this breed is. I definitely didn't know they needed THAT much care.
Yeah I made the same mistake regarding the breed. I thought no fur meant low maintenance until I met a breeder who cleared things up for me. Beautiful cats but in a weird alien sort of way! 😂👍👽
Agreed. Most of what you hear about them is the opposite and a total fabrication, apparently.
They have a skin constitution like humans. Think how humans are if they don't bathe regularly.
They need lots of sunblock also since they get skin burn easily
It's true for "skinny pigs" (bald guinea pigs) and hairless dog breeds, too.
She was literally hugging your hand when you were clipping her nails, she's such a sweetheart!
Also, I have a very sudden newfound appreciation for my ear hairs.
I'm so glad you do! You beautiful human, you ❤️
@@barb8268 thanks, Barb. Hope you're having a fabulous day!
My cats try to kill me when I do that. 😂
@@tell-me-a-story- really? thats my cats fave part of grooming, she literally tries to lay her whole wait on my hand, through her head when i get out the wipes, for her ears lol (and no before you ask its not an ear infection, we checked that with the vet, she just loves it lol)
I never saw Vanessa give any other cat so many kisses. This cat's parents better keep an eye on this precious little girl. Cuteness overload.
I love how she politely voices her slight displeasure at the bath
“LET ME FREE SERVANT.”
"Ma'am I do not appreciate you manhandling me, please release me at once"
"Madame, please unhand me at once. It is most unprofessional to hold me in such fashion."
It’s why I love these cats. They are often very polite, although they can be quite vocal. But I’ve never met one that was aggressive or nasty. They are extremely loving and empathetic, and I would love a little pet alien of my own ☺️
"Ma'am do you MIND."
What a cute baby alien.
👽
That’s so funny . That was my thought too. 😂
😂
Me, too!
I met a beautiful Sphynx cat in Ukraine named Jane, in 2021. She purred non-stop, loved her chin scritches, and loved nibbling my ear lobe, thinking it dispensed milk!! She was a wonderful kitty
She’s the prettiest little chaos goblin I’ve ever seen! Sphinx are also incredibly smart! So not only are they time intensive for grooming, you really must play with them or they’re likely to find their own ways of having fun.
that sweet baby, purring the entire time you cleaned her ears even though she clearly did not care for it.
I showed this to my grandma, and she couldn't say "sphinx," so when she saw the video, she said
"Oh, it's a wrinkle cat." 😊
That is the cutest new moniker for sphynx cats. 😂❤
Precisely! Grandma is the best!

Thanks for saying that. I've never met a Sphinx so I was wondering what it feels like, seeing her so up close on camera.
I got to snuggle one once. They weigh about the same as a newborn baby, and yeah, warm peach.
They feel like a living leather glove. Kinda bizarre but neat at the same time.
I was wondering the same thing! I've never met one. Thanks for the info. ❤
Sphynxes I've met have the most positive (loving, friendly, playful) temperament I've seen from any cat. They have no idea how freakish looking they are, and wouldn't care if they did.

She’s right they do look like rotisserie chickens 🐓 😂❤
I've been telling myself that if I ever get one, I I'm naming it Rotisserie Chicken
Then I found this and I feel validated
i call mine a turkey when she loafs😂

@destiny8794 not randomly, but yes that's a shockingly good way to describe it lol. He likes to start shit with our other 2 cats, and will scream like an unholy beast when they take it as a challenge 🤣
@@nagi3900 That must be terrifying if he screams at night then XD
Even when complaining, she was purring. So darn cute!
"A baby rotisserie chicken" killed me! This baby is adorable.
I love these chicken cats, they're so cute!
It's funny, a lot of times Spynx cats are often portrayed as being grumpy and nasty, but in real life they're the total opposite.
They just have the best curmudgeonly little faces! Makes them perfect for the grumpy villain roles.
Same here. Who could say no to those precious little angels?💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
To be fair, they do look like they're frowning all the time lol. But I like the Animal Restaurant app's take, with a sphynx wrapped in a warm sweatshirt and the game describing him as a bit of a crybaby.
I have met at least 10 Sphinx cats and only 2 have NOT been hellions. Depends on the breeder.

She's adorable and so well-behaved during her bath! Exfoliating gloves are great for Sphynx bathing! Easily scrubs off any accumulated grime and the kitties love the scritching. Sphynx earwax looks like melted tootsie rolls. ☮️😺
Meanwhile my cat is plotting my downfall using a Looney Tunes series of elaborate traps because I’m 30 minutes late to feeding her at the usual time.
Myfanwy means ‘my lovely little one’, and how appropriate! She is so sweet!
My grandparents in Devon had Welsh terriers and one was called Madam Myfanwy, now I know what it means, thanks!
I thought that was the name! I remembered how to pronounce it from little Britain even tho I’m from US haha.

She's, like, the anti-Mayonnaise 😂 Such a sweet cat and I love her big, sensitive ears. She was even purring through having her ears cleaned, which must be pretty unique. Health and long life to her!

1:00 I draw cats a lot and spynx cats are a really good breed for studying anatomy because there’s no fur obscuring your view of their legs arms neck and tail!
Also my cat munchkin acts just like this girlie he’s so lovable! But he smells nasty and we need to bathe him often because he smells like a ferret with it’s musk glands.
My cat Annie is also really lovable, she’s a mainecoon mix and I’ve been training and socializing her since she was a kitten so that’s probably why! She absolutely loves kids and always tries to run up to them when she sees them (out on walks with her leash) once I was sitting in the car with her while my mom ran into the store to get something (I was getting my high-school senior photos and Annie was gonna be in them) and this mom sees her and gets her little boy’s attention and points excitedly it was really cute, I got put and let the kids in the car pet her. Also when the mom told the little boy to say thank you he said thank you to Annie, so sweet.
Munckin isn’t quite as good on a leash as Annie but Annie has been fully leash trained since she was about 10-12 months old. While munchkin struggles because he isn’t food motivated and has a harder time listening to commands.
Do you have any time lapse drawings? I think it would be cool to see
@@resplndnt I have some speedpaints on my main channel I post art to but I don’t think I’ve ever made a video showcasing cat anatomy practice time lapses, thanks for the idea! I mostly practice anatomy traditionally and then translate what I’ve learned digitally later when making a piece

Love the bright blue eyes and the face wrinkles!
I saw some at a cat show a couple of years ago. They were really sweet. One couple had two. They were selling some clothing from their store. They had two very sweet kittens with them. One of the kittens had furry ears, legs and tail. The couple were telling people that the kittens loved a lot of attention and getting people to hold and cuddle them.
@@bartwilson2513 That's because you can only see them sideways on.

I met only one sphinx cat. Within five minutes of meeting him, he was on my shoulder like a pirate's pet.
He's not a sphynx, but there's a kitten at my local humane society right now who is absolutely a shoulder cat. He's been there for several months and hasn't been adopted and I have no clue how that's happened, he's so sweet and friendly

I can’t believe she had that much gunk in her ears being brand new! She’s a cutie!
When we picked up our first cat (British shorthair) her ears were also dirty af. My guess is some breeders don't bother as much with maintenance because "once someone buys the cat it'll become their problem"
Goes to show how useful hair is for animals, she has nothing to prevent gunky skin and ears lol
@mist5273
It could be the breed, my brittie also had dirty ears if not cleaned regularly but my other cats don’t.
I'm so happy to see a sphynx on here! I got my first sphynx, Taro, almost a year ago! He hasn't needed to be bathed quite as frequently because he actually doesn't get very oily, but he's absolutely perfect and the sweetest boy.
My Sphynx is the light of my life, he’s so sweet and lovely. Not that the other cats I’ve owned weren’t, but my boy has 0 aggression. Never hissed, never growls, never scratches. They are seriously the best ❤️

I think the lack of hair makes a lot of people think too much of a human
I have an almost 3 y.o. male sphynx named Sal, which is short for Salmonella. We unfortunately weren't his parents at the beginning of his life, so we weren't able to start bathing him until we adopted him after he was already 1 year old. We are strictly a hypoallergenic wipe home because he hates water. We also use wipes that are specifically for chicken ears. Just have to say that there's absolutely no way her owner cleaned her ears the day before her groom, IMO.
I am astounded at the amount of gunk you were able to get out of her ears! She must have felt so much better after that. What an adorable and well-behaved kitten.
And the bath water changes color. For a kitten born indoors that was an impressive amount of dirt!
I doubt that's half a day worth of gunk, honestly. Perhaps the owner doesn't really know how to do it (understandably, they might be scared of hurting her).
It was kinda gross that she kept using the same cotton bud again after it was filthy 😳😳 I would use a new clean one once I got enough out of the ear
@@ThePolypam Pretty sure it probably is... my girl picks up the dust from the cat litter, her nails and ears (and sometimes nose) are black as the oils in her shin mix with the dust from the litter and the house in general. And fluff, as she wants to be snuggled up the whole time. It's absolutely astounding how fast the black gunk builds up.
They have amazing outgoing personalities. I once met a litter of Sphynx kittens, and it was like a bunch of tiny, hairless talk show hosts. 😂

What incredible imagery
That’s one helluva mental picture! 😂

I really want one because I love how they look like little aliens and I have read they're very loving. I'm just worried that they may be more in need of constant companionship and I work too much to be there for them all the time.
I would have fallen in love with her too. She is adorable.
Omg. When you were talking about the easy dirt build up and why you need to bathe them weekly, the little meow in the middle sounded like “yeah!” And I was dead.
Thank you for highlighting this breed. I know so many people who talk about getting a sphinx, thinking they would be low maintenance. Without fur they are very oily - even with weekly baths. Their favorite sleeping spots need regular laundering or they turn into grease slicks. 😬.

Things to consider befor getting a hairless cat: they do not only need a lot of help with their hygene, and need sun protection. They also need help keeping warm, means you need to train them accepting cloths so you can have them not freeze, when traveling with them at the very least. In addition they are on the more active and social side of the cat spectrum needing a lot of attention and preferably at least one other cat to keep them occupied.
They also need to get their nails clippey routinely to not hurt themselves or each other when playing, as they have no protective fur to prevent scratches.
In addition consider the cat breed you pick. The Sphinx inherits the hairlessness on a recessive gene and has because of that severe inbreeding issues, they are often born with glass bones, an athrophic muscle condition, HCM or congenital heart defects.
Breeds like the Donskoy or Peterbald inherites the hairlessness as a dominant trait, and while they often get a thin fur coat in winter, and are thus not completely bald all year through, they also inheret less genetic defects, and are not known to have issues with any genetic deseases caused by excessive inbreeding, like the Sphinx does.
Additionally: not all countries allow the breeding or sale of hairless cats, as they ban to breed cats that have genes that negatively affect the cats health, and some countries declared hairlessness as such a negative effect.
I wondered if their hairless ness subjected them to sunburn… 🤔 Thanks for the info!
Thanks for this!

Oh my gosh, she's precious. Especially hearing her purr!
So glad to see a Sphynx! I own three. A couple little tidbits- the best tool for baths is a softer exfoliating bath glove, and not all Sphynx need weekly bathing. It depends on the individual cat. They do have the best personalities, but come with significant, expensive health care (yearly cardiology visits)!
I use a tanning mit because of how soft it is. It gets all the grime and is not harsh on my sphynx's skin :)
@@katedobson1649oooo thanks for the suggestion!!! I'll have to try that on mine

We owned a sphynx cat and loved Him dearly. He loved his humans as well and always wanted to be near us. They are curious and so much fun! It is true though, they do need a lot of grooming. While he did not love it, he did tolerate it well and if not groomed regularly, would leave oily spots on the furniture as well as cause him skin issues. I would honestly avoid Sphinx and go for Donskoy. The difference is in how the hairlessness is inhereted, causing the Donskoy to have way less health problems and no risk of being born with glass bones.
Another difference is, that the Donskoy gets a thin hair coat in winter, that is shed when it gets warmer again.
@@hannajung7512Not always true. Some Donskoys grow fur, sometimes it sheds and sometimes it doesn't. Their fur pattern can vary widely and can change until they reach adulthood.
