Ive seen a few comments on this vid that they are in the honaker tree. Crazy that our family is so large, because im also in the tree. I just found out about this rifle and this video. Family trees are crazy
Crazy to hear something so old and of historical value come from the state and county I currently live in (Frederick county Va). I would love to know more about the firearm…but I’m sure most of its history will never be known
Not so crazy in the wonderful world of muzzleloading! That's so cool you are from the same area as this muzzleloader. The sad thing is these pieces of history don't talk much. Maybe someday.
this is crazy i just found out Hans Jacob is my 6x great grandpa… i found this out 10 minutes ago and started researching and this popped up… crazy crazy..
It is a beautiful rifle,, but many believe it is from Germany,, as of now there is not one Document signed with his signature on it,, not one signed rifle or anything,, a good story always drives the price up,, no real evidence of being from Virginia, but looks many German rifles that favors,, no proof, just a guess at best.
Its weird hearing other people say your last name it’s amazing to see people look at a piece of your own families history this was great thank you
That's my family's rifle and it was used in the Civil War and I am very proud to know my 3time great grandfather built them
Hans Son, Abraham, is my sixth great grandfather and has a Rifle in the Colonial Williamsburg Museum

Did he live in the Winchester Va area?
That's so cool! I hope you can fill in more of your history someday.
Hello cousins. Hans is my 4X Great Grandfather on my mother’s side. Through the Jennell / Journell lineage. Both families from Switzerland.
I love how this comment section is just a family reunion great to be apart of it
What's crazy to think about is the wood the builder used was probably from a big old tree, possibly 200+ years old. Wood from 1500 or older!
Right??
So nearly as old as my house.
Reminds me of the famous brass barrel rifle. Similar stock design
You asked that person if you sounded to nerdy. I would be like a 3 year old on a half pound of sugar. Thanks for showing this beautiful work.
Thank you jack, glad you are enjoying the videos!
Does it have a swamped barrel?
They should have told about the added Barrel length and wood, restoration was not mentioned.
Hans Jacob Honaker was my 7th great grandfather

Lots of work goes into making them.
