Since I saw your first two fails, I decided to try it for fun. worse 2 weeks ever lol. I basically farmed NM till I was almost 80.... I reset my map over and over till I got the easiest meph map ever. I found a lycander flank which made life easier. I must have killed Meph in NM with 200 MF about 2k times. I got all the best items you can get in NM. I even managed to get a shako from NM Baal. I never used it tho, kept on my Vamp Gaze and Smoke armor. like you, I used Nats boots. I also had IK belt, Rare gloves with IAS and resistance. I too found a Raven frost and a rare ring with LL and dual res. What helped the most was the charms I kept along the way. I kept every resistance/life charm I could find. Eventually I switch the Smoke for a Hustle runeword armor since being able to run fast made life easier and safer. also the IAS kept my life up while killing. You really need to use your skills while playing a spearzon. Valk, Decoy and that skill that lowers enemy defense, making them easier to hit. I used a Holyfreeze Act2 merc, he used a treachery that I swapped between us for fade, Insight and tals mask. The holyfreeze made life safer for me as well since I just ran away if my life got halfway. I later switched to Hell Pit runs till 83, I dont recommend that tho since I had more than 1 S&E moments with fanat archers. I play on PC tho so once I hit the ESC button, it pauses the game, cant die while looking in the menu. I abused that quite a bit, going through doors and tapping esc to see if I was about to run into a bad room. Took a 5 days alone to get through HELL mode. I went super slow, full clearing areas. In the Pits, I did find a mancatcher that I also made into an Obedience which made life easier. I think res is the most important thing on a spearzon since your up close and usually surrounded. I put an UM into my Vgaze for more res. I also had a Nokozan ammy which gave me 85 Fire res. Baal Hell was a total shitshow... wave 2 nearly killed me since poison was my worst res. If I didint farm full juvs i probably would of never made it past wave2. I lead wave5 out the room and baal was EZ mode. this is what I did, if you try again, hope some of this info helps you.
I have saved the tips to a textfile for next time. But you sound as if you have way more patience than I do. Congrats on finishing it!
@@thenuclearrabbit Haha yes, i'm a very patient person. After 20yrs of D2 ive learned to be patient. Game seems to reward persistence. I hope you try again, spend more time in NM farming. Good drops will come, you just need to grind it out haha. 1min meph runs, 60 runs per hour, Hustle runeword and break your rule to use a telestaff to jump the moat and I think your end result will be more favorable. Fun fact: spears are the least complicated to use weapons irl. Even a fat basement dweller could use one effectively, just take it and poke your target with the pointy end, literally run into it. That's why we've been using them for as long as we were able to use tools. Spears are great when you're facing your enemy, but bad at getting cornered. But if you have a buddy at your side with a spear to cover you and he has a buddy too.. That's how the phalanx came to be!

That death as you save and exit happened to Llama too. It seems like a glitch. Notice on the character screen a dead hardcore character should be naked but you have gear still.
I didn't even realise I was dead at first till I saw the message and couldn't enter a game anymore.
Her deeds of valour will be remembered!

Raven is the most based drop you could get off normal baal for a melee char
Yeah it is up there on best drops I have ever had on the channel. I prefer a baal normal raven over high runes

it was a nice run, unfortunately loading death is pretty sad. You should get used to change menu quicker by pressing R1 twice, down and X.
I have since learned to do that. You can see me doing it in my newer video's :)
I wonder if making Hustle with that Ko straigth away would have been better than waiting for a mancatcher. The +6 evade is a ginormous boost to survivability along with the 60frw. Great video!
I would never make Hustle in an armor when I have a vipermagi and a shaft. It could have worked as a weapon for sure. I might just need to suck it up and go for a exceptional base.

This has never happened to me in hardcore because I'm not about that life, but I've definitely been killed during the loading screen on PS4, I don't remember it happening after I got a ps5 though
I never had it happen on ps4 either. But I put an ssd into it immediately which may have made the difference
This Build gets very strong with a Breath of the Dying, i played it in Season 2, but i also used Chainlightning
Yeah endgame spearazon can be very powerful
The level loading and exit lag factors are apparently MUCH worse with D2R than they were with "original" LoD -- and that was no fun either. Blizzard doesn't care. They are making buckets of money anyway and have no incentive to fix it.

Yes, I die in the loading screen all the time. I've been trying to clear ubers, and the game takes so long to load that I have about a 60% chance to load in already dead. it's making it very very challenging solo...

Ita a bug. In classic LOD if u Press exit the in game time should stop. But in d2r it do not. Also the same rhing happens in loading screen while TP to another location, time goes on when u w8ing to loading screen go off. So if mobs spawn near by TP you can die in loading screen.

Cool character, this video kind of made me want to play a physical spear-a-zon. It's just a shame that the loss of a shield makes it so damn hard to get resistances up in hell.
It might not be enough of a challenge compared to your usual stuff. Unless you want to go hardcore in which case I wish you luck

I was inspired to do a poke-a-zon as my season 7 ladder starter just for the luls. I gave up at level 35 and re-spec'd into lightning stabazon instead...

Spearzon was improved, but it is still a really tough build to work with. They needed to give spears more durability, not everyone can get a EBOTD wep or a Steel Pillar.
They should just remove the durability nonsense from impale and lower the stat reqs on them.
I've died in a loading screen on the ps4 version. Now i play on a PC with a SSD and its night and day difference
I record with a ps5 with 2 nvme in it :). I also put a ssd in my ps4 as fast as I could. I can't imagine playing any game on hdd. Especially with recording that's gotta be so laggy

@@thenuclearrabbit Why didnt you make a hustle, smoke or treachery runeword? any of the three would of been an improvement over Vmagi. where you playing online? you can get an easy meph map if you were offline and do 1min meph runs with a telestaff to jump the moat. a Lycanders Flank can drop in NM.

I play offline. I did meph farming. I don't use Telestaffs except for speedrunning, I don't like the gameplay they create.

Next time you try this run- might need to grind NM countess until you can upgrade to a Lem rune so you can make a treachery. The IAS, Fade, and Venom proc is just too good to pass up. That’ll be one hell of a grind unless you get lucky on NM forage.

@@thenuclearrabbit also, I’ve done a run doing Fend/Impale. I ended up switching back to Jab/Fend because the x3 Jab strikes with Crushing Blow vs single target is great

There was a russian tournament some time ago. They called it Iron Man Rules. There was No TP allowed. No safety quit. Some players could finish hell Baal. But I think there were no melee chars able to do that. I enjoy watching and playing such runs a lot!
Didn't see if u beat hell but there's a cube recipe chipped diamond belt Kris and staff I think to create a savage pole arm I think they call like 100 ed ll or ias if u get lucky u can roll over x-100+ dmmg at lvl 20ish

You probably took fatal damage the instant you saved and exited. I don't know how this works for offline tbh. For online I can see lag/ping and server/client being an issue where it's understandable you might think you S&E'd in time but the server disagrees. My HC view has always been if you have to S&E it's a last ditch thing to avoid death. Which means if you didn't S&E you'd have died anyway.
Anyway bad break mate and hope you get this one down eventually. You had a lot going for you this run. Lot of lucky drops. Hope you have even better luck next time.
I assume you went with the Fire Iron Wolf mage for the Enchant proc to help your Fend? Perhaps a better use case would be the Cold Iron Wolf for the crowd control. I don't see the Enchant proc being that useful since you should have Penetrate and Inner Sight used in conjunction and Impale always hits anyway. Also use Decoy!
Yeah I know about the delay with it online. It's a big motivator for me to play offline. S&q is all about survival in a run like this. I very rarely use it to move around faster cause I'm not speedrunning.
This one had so much going for it. But I will get it at some point.
I think I'd take the holy freeze merc over the cold a3 one. But you are right on with why I went for the a3 fire. I figured it's also a very much needed source of second type of damage against phys immune.

Yeah besides the horrible inventory system, this is another reason why playing on pc is so much better. Save and quit takes like 0.5 seconds max.
Yeah those 2 are way beter on pc. I have practised doing fast snq on console since this run (this one happened a while ago I'm just way behind on editing)
they really need to change hyperion spear and ogre axes sockets, coz 3 is just stupid

ok finished watching, on console the game isn't paused when you go to save and quit? that's wild
i see what they were going for, but it doesn't work well: On keyboard+mouse it doesn't pause the game when you open your inventory or character screen, only when you hit escape. They're mimicking that, but it just feels bad having to tab over before the game pauses.
I have had runs die because I forgot I to go to the correct tab before when answering phone calls and stuff. It's not great.
It's paused on the options screen but not on any of the other tabs
