  • Welcome to our informative video on uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), a non-surgical procedure designed to treat uterine fibroids. If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and are seeking a minimally invasive treatment alternative, this short video is for you.
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), also known as uterine artery embolization (UAE), is a non-surgical procedure used to treat uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths that develop in the uterus. UFE is considered a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical treatments such as hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) or myomectomy (removal of individual fibroids).
During the UFE procedure, an interventional radiologist inserts a thin catheter into the blood vessels that supply the fibroids. Using real-time imaging, the catheter is guided to the arteries that feed the fibroids. Small particles, such as tiny beads or gelatin sponge, are then injected through the catheter into the blood vessels to block the flow of blood to the fibroids. By cutting off their blood supply, the fibroids shrink over time, relieving symptoms.
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia or conscious sedation, meaning the patient remains awake but sedated and comfortable. It is usually done on an outpatient basis, meaning patients can often go home the same day or next day.
UFE offers several advantages over surgery, including a shorter recovery time, preservation of the uterus, and a lower risk of complications. It can be an effective option for women who wish to avoid surgery or preserve their fertility.

@@Aurora-yo7xmbecause when the artery is blocked and the fibroids dies. The tissue is still there and softened. You can still feel discomfort and pain even tho is dead and shrunk. But not as before that’s why
