Halfey is right and Bartlett is just as delusional as real life democrats. The Palestinians and the Arab world don't want peace, that's why they've fought against every peace deal, concession, and two state solution that's ever been offered. It's why they turn water pipes into missiles and fertilizer into bombs. They want the complete and unfettered genocide of the Jewish people, and it's more important to them than eating or drinking.
All these years later.....and the same heartfelt emotions come storming back into my heart and soul. I laugh and tear up and after the music plays I smile thinking to myself how did I manage before The West Wing became Family to me! Cheers Everyone! 👋
Only today is so much worse. Instead of an intelligent, compassionate president trying to fight for peace, we have an election between two senile assholes who don't have 2 functional brain cells between them, one who is actively aiding in genocide, the other who has committed numerous crimes.
@@caseychambers2693 Pretty much everyone wants peace. But many people _also_ want other stuff, and those desires outweigh the want for peace. Jews and Muslims (many in that area, and quite a lot all over the world) both want peace - but they both _also_ want to "own" some very specific geograpic locations that they both deem "holy", and they are both offended by the very presence of the other party at those geographic locations, and that offense outweighs the want for peace... The whole Gaza situation really is a perfect example of the harm that religion causes... Remove the religious meaning for those locations, and that whole conflict becomes _very_ easy to resolve...
@@Wolf-ln1ml - amateur hour. It's Jew hatred. Always has been there, continues today. Iran will never allow a Gaza government to find peace with Israel.
@@Wolf-ln1ml it's a conflict over land, not religion. The holy sites in Jerusalem are holy to the Egyptians, Jordanians, Saudis, and emiratis too and none of them are at war with Israel
This was when this show really went off the rails, just crisis to crisis. Until the last season, which was great (except for the insane Toby/NASA storyline)
Israel offered a more realistic version of what's depicted in this episode, '67 borders and East Jerusalem. Arafat launched the 2nd Intifada which killed thousands of civilians.
The reporter who interrupted to continue his line of questioning after CJ had already selected someone else was kind of out of line. Given how petty CJ could be if you ticked her off, he was really risking getting his press room credentials pulled for doing that.
I’m very confused how Bartlet wanted to blow up the entire Middle East at the end of Season 5 and then at the start of Season 6 he’s hell-bent on solving the Middle East
I was sad they killed Admiral Fitzwallace. I loved that character.
Thank you. I couldn't remember what happened to him 🤗✌️
I always appreciated how firm President Bartlett was with Speaker Halfley

Fun fact: he gets embarrassed by both Bartlet and Santos.
Perhaps for the best that the gop lost the house in the last season
And how Halfley so well embodies sleazy GOO
Later in the episode Leo makes the exact same mistake the Speaker does - trying to order the President around.
Exactly. Met Martin Sheen once. You ask, don’t insist.

The look on his when she says she's scared...
He always loved her
Doesn’t help that a pulmonary embolism is how his dad died.
amazing how it's still relevant
Sad that it's still a problem
Same damn middle east. As we grow as a species we will throw off this need for religious idols and the extremism that always follows.
And It will in 50 years
What? You mean Jared Kushner didn't fix it? I'm shocked.
Talk about not stopping for red lights to get there
“I work at the White House. I have the diplomatic rank of a 3-star general.” Always made me laugh. LIke.. uh, no you don't.
@@jamiestewart48he might actually have a higher rank lmao - State Dept protocol says someone of his rank is actually a bit higher up.
We make peace with our enemies, not our friends.
Wrath is easier than mercy.
This was what, 20 years ago? Sounds an awful lot like today.
1999 to 2006 Google Assistant says....so started 25 years ago and ended 18 years ago, if my math is correct??
Except today the public are calling for peace, but politicians are providing war

Yeah they go back and forth every 20 years or so, it’s been going on for hundreds of years at this point
you don't remember the 1990's well do you?
Best love story ever, Josh and Donna.
Josh’s dad died with an embolism
Awful how Gaza is still an issue today...
"How will this end?"
"In fire." - Babylon 5
The Americans want peace. The Europeans want peace. The Israelis mostly want peace.
But Gaza has a vote too.
