There has *literally* been people in mental institutes because they wouldn't perform their "wifely duties" with their arranged marriage husband. Think about that one for a second. "I got a headache today." "Hmm, that's what my last wife had before I put her in the mental institute for the rest of her brief life…" Other reasons: Didn't want to work, didn't want to marry, so on and so forth. There was a period where anything other than "what the husband/father said to do" meant you got put into closed door mental "healthcare" and experimented on.
i was gonna say, where the woke lived in the 60s? that doesn't look like a hippie commune. these people are so deranged and hateful they don't even know what "woke" means anymore.

One of the grossest things about the Fallout image photoshop is that they're violating Ella Purnell's real figure. She's a slim woman, not a super curvaceous one! So they're literally saying "this absolutely gorgeous woman, who is also super lean and fit like the media tells women they're all suppose to be, is STILL not good enough because she can't magically also have a big round ass, in a survival jumpsuit." Like if it had been from the front they would probably be "fixing" her boobs, cause she doesn't have huge cleavage either. We all know if the show had chosen a curvier woman for the part they'd be fat shaming her and "fixing" her waist and thighs. These actors are real people.
Yeah I don't follow movies or TV anything but there's a line between "fixing" a fictional animated or drawn character and "fixing" a real life person by hypersexualizing her. There's something wrong with people that think that's ok because that's really gross, like that's a real person you're publically shaming and harassing, if it ain't already a crime, it should be because just, ew
Adding to this, the Vault suit she wears on the show is 100% accurate - no canon Vault suits are tight. None of them. So not only are they insulting her, they don't even get the franchise they're "defending".
@@snorpenbass4196 I saw it as she's "useless" like each vault had its own "rules" but she has no real muscle or stats they also made the one ghoul "hot" like it would be ok if we saw that he got lucky with how bad his ghoul-ness was like the vaults were still teaching people how to survive and stuff and the reason she left was because her dad got kidnapped like the the vault is fine and her leaving alone with "nothing" is just dumb
@@snorpenbass4196 I don't agree with the Photoshop, it's grotesque to alter a real person, but your statement is false. The vault suits from Fallout 4 are indeed skin tight.

The zombie cicadas thing works like this: the fungus infects one cicada. This cicada's hind parts shrivel up and are replaced by the fungus's spores (its gonads are gone at this point). However, the fungus also affects the cicada's brain and makes it a) believe that nothing's wrong and b) hypersexual (also bisexual, it will behave like the opposite sex to get that booty). So it will be trying to mate with as many other cicadas as possible... and because the body part that it uses to try and mate is now replaced by the fungus's spores, the other cicadas get infected. Important to note: Just like the cordyceps fungus so often referred to in zombie movies, this fungus cannot infect humans, or even mammals.

So, the whole thing about Voter ID and racism comes from a couple of factors in the US: 1) The states with the highest Black population are among the poorest in the US 2) Those same states go out of their way to poorly run social services, with only one or two licenscing places open for a state whose area is comparable to the UK. Said licensing places are in the wealthier (read: white) parts of the state 3) Said states now require IDs to vote. To get said IDs, poor and disproportionately black voters have to take hours of their time out of a day to go to a poorly run licenscing location that has limited hours in areas of the state that are less than hospitable to folks with skin tone darker than David Bowie.
Add to this jury duty - anyone registering to vote is automatically signing up for jury duty, which most poor people (mostly black people) can't do without losing their jobs. So people don't register. It's horribly clever.
You left out one more element, @chrissaldana: any time that African Americans or white progressives complain about all of this, Republicans respond by saying, "The Democrat Party is so racist, they think colored people are too stupid to get ID!"

It has literally no effect on anything other than bigots pissing their pants over being reminded a certain group of people exist.
They don't even want to go back to the 1950s. They want to "go back to" the world portrayed in 1950s TV shows … which were themselves nothing more than 30 minute long advertisements for life in the suburbs. So they want to live in a 1950s-themed TV commercial. Deranged.
It's always fascinating to me how many of the 'remember the old days' images used are just straight up adverts. It's honestly incredibly rare to even see scenes from movies or TV, never mind anything actually real, it's literally just 99% commercials.
Not surprising when psychological studies have shown most of them have zero media literacy. There are right wing fans of Star Trek who insist it doesn’t have left wing/progressive themes for fuck’s sake. These people are exhausting.
None of it mentioned the cold war scares, which is stuff we would have gone through in the 50s, except no one is alive that can give an accurate account of what the 1950 were actually like.

3:15 I am now 29 years old. Every day, in my head, I still audibly hear my father's voice saying the most horrible things to me. I've been in therapy since I was about 5. The impact of bullying your children is life-long, even if they get therapy and do it right.
*gentle hugs* I lived with that. It took time, but I'm very happy now. :) You deserve to be in a better place. It's nice out here. We'll save you a seat!

When my brother was six years old and completely failing first grade because he was an incredibly hyperactive kid with ADHD, school officials recommended that he should be withdrawn from school and kept at home, or placed in an institution (translation: mental hospital) just for being ADHD! This was Oklahoma in 1967. Mom had the good sense to tell them where to get off. That's how we ended up moving to California.
Yep. Yet people still wish for the "good old days" as if they weren't terrible for everyone but them. Times are so much better now, not perfect, but better.

Easter is very pagan so makes sense, they mostly just changed the name and they didn't even bother changing the mascot from a rabbit because what says fertility god more then a rabbit... Maybe a mouse, but most people find them less cute
It's actually derived from the way Jewish people decide when Passover is. (Which is why sometimes Easter and Passover fall on the same weekend and sometimes they don't.) So not pagan in the common meaning of the word - but I'd say that the ancient Judaism and even medieval Christianity can be, in a way, closer to an ancient paganism than to contemporary religous displays, because all the agriculture based societies were closer to each other than to us.
But they even decide it wrong in reference to Passover. Because in the story itself, Jesus is killed a day after Passover. The Catholics (and then Protestants) brought in all this gubbins about the first full moon after the equinox, and it has no real relation to Passover any more.

Quick correction: you have to be at least 35 to be president in the US, not almost 40. Realistically older people are more likely to be elected based on their public presence and experience (for better or worse) but the actual age limit is only 35.
Of course, with one exception, the presidents of the last 3 decades were all born in the 40s. Which was understandable 30 years ago when someone born in the 40s was nearly 50. Not so much when they're 80. Only 3 presidents of the last 120 years were under 50. That's 3 out of 20. So while the actual limit is 35, the realistic limit is higher.
On the charging too much rent and paying too little, I sometimes think the point is just cruelty. Somehow they started hating poor people so much, they want to make life miserable for them so much they don't care they're hurting themselves. That or they are so out of touch they can't fathom the idea of not having enough money
It justifies the wealthy as "deserving" of their money and privilege. The more they can blame the poor for their poverty, the more righteous the wealthy feel. What's super sad is when the poor collaborate in their own oppression, which is what the whole capitalist ideology runs on.
Yep, the vitriol is real - "You need to find £30,000 for a house deposit? Well, you need to cancel that £7.99 a month Netflix subsciption then, you HEDONIST! And if you do it RIGHT NOW, you might have at least half the amount you need before you DIE OF OLD AGE!"
The rich have always hated the poor. They know that being rich is an injustice they only achieved by stealing from or defrauding the poor, and they're always subconsciously scared that some of their victims will one day decide to take it back.
48:46 i had a conversation with my grandfather about wages and inflation and shit and he was bragging about his first job only paying him like $1.25 an hour. And still thought he was making a point about how im ungrateful when i said i needed a higher paying job than the $14 an hour.
Yep. When my sister got her first job post uni, our father congratulated her "on making almost as much money as I did at my first real job". 30 years difference. Then I plugged his salary and and discovered he's making less than when he started when you account for inflation. He "informed" me I was wrong because he was making over double what he started. I would absolutely love to open a portal up for all the people who want to go back to the 1940s-1950s. I can guarantee they wouldn't be able to last a day because they have romantized about those times to the point they don't realize how much progress has been made for people's rights. Like if the lack of smart technology wouldn't cause their version of what it was like back then shatters it would absolutely be the way people treat them that would shatters their perceived view
What they want is to live in the 1950s of sitcoms. Which wasn't real. And was actually a 30 minute long advertisement for life in the suburbs. Real life wouldn't suit them.
@@John_Weiss Yep. They're going off of sitcoms and movies that romantize those times despite the fact that it was post WW2 & that without the suffrage movement & people fighting for their right to choose & be independent then we would most likely still be living in a world were woman had to have their father or husband's permission to do even something as simple as use a credit card to go shopping because they weren't allowed to be independent & literally had to relay on men unlike now when people are able to be independent if they want to & of course if they are able to
@@claratalbot7613 Forget "credit card to go shopping" [that sounds kinda sexist, ngl] - women couldn't have _their own bank account_ or _have control of their own finances._ So when a woman had to go and get a job to help the family make ends-meet, it went into _her husband's_ bank account and counted as _his income._ …Hmm … now I wonder how many of those "single-income households" really _were_ just one income, or were actually 2 incomes masked by women not allowed to have their own bank accounts.

16:16 you know what irritates me the most about the fucking porn-mod crowd who always want a bubble butt in their games to the extent that they have no idea that's not what real humans look like anymore, is that they also have no idea how tailoring works. Clothes don't hang sucked to the body. Even famously figure hugging fabrics like latex, lycra and spandex are subject to a little thing called gravity. In fact, the only costume I can think of to date that really *achieved* a figure hugging quality was on Star Trek Voyager, for the character Seven of Nine. The construction of her costume was gravity defying and everyone was obsessed with finding out how her costumer did it. Turns out the construction of it was a clever use of hooks and sculpting and forms and is uhhhhh ... expensive. A lot of a shows budget goes into costumes and most cannot or will not spend that much money on such high calibre artistry. tl;dr Bros mad because show using real humans does not match the game they play porn-modded to hell and back. Quelle surprise.
There is actually a phenomenon related to this that people have dubbed the "roach wife". It's named after someone getting so incredibly horny whilst reading Kafka's Metamorphosis and growing so conditioned by their own idea of lust that the two conflate into one thing, and actual people are no longer attractive: he must picture the roach to be able to register it as horny. Anime and Video game characters growing so extreme and exaggerated that they are completely unrealistic are only making that phenomenon more common, and more recognisable as they keep exaggerating more and more to get the same affect. It's actually quite fascinating from a psychology perspective. Also you get to call their stupid abstractions "roach wives" which is normally quite fun.
The costume also almost killed the actress multiple times. The guy responsible for the whole thing was one of the main producers at the time, and he was/is a fairly awful person.
@@snorpenbass4196 There are only 4 "major producers" from Star Trek Voyager, 2 of them are women. The other 2 have no scandals attached to them that I can find. @@Batz-on-paws You happen to be finnish? Anyway, I went to school before the higher education was changed to be free (and mandatory) in Finland, and many did struggle. Most would buy at least some of the books used (obviously not an option nowadays), so much so that teachers would often tell us what year editions were too old to use and which pages had the same info (like "turn page 43, 41 for you with year X editions"). And I knew at least one who didn't go to gymnasium because it'd be too expensive for their parents. Some asked for goverment funding to be able to afford school supplies, but I don't think many even knew that to be an option. And that's exactly what they want back, poor/middle wage families' kids going for lower education and low paid jobs so they become tax payers quicker and younger. Meanwhile the well-paid enjoy giving themselves more money, less competition and less dirty poor people befriending their nepobabies.

Instead of a minimum wage for workers, we should have a maximum wage for employers. If the highest earner in a company wasn't allowed to earn (for example) 200% more than the lowest worker, then everyone would get a fair raise automatically.
Gonna say you 3 don't really understand buisness. Sea Breeze: firstly small business owners don't make salary at all. They get the profits and have no way of knowing what profits will be in any given year. Make it so that it's last years profits what if profits tank? They can't afford the higher salaries of their workers. Waffles: I don't even know where to begin with you, your post is just unintelligent and low effortn Hyper: this wouldn't work at all. Not only are there some companies who charge massively different wages for different jobs, for example a welder could get 20-30 an hour. But if the company does under water welding that can be 60-80 an hour sometimes. If you don't see the problem here I'll try to explain it. You're forcing a company owner who potentially does some of these harder jobs to be paid less than if they just worked the job themselves. Meaning that anyone who actually has skills never would want to be a higher up, making ALL management shitty management. And I think welding is a tame example, let's not mention the brain surgeon vs janitor salary. It's just not pheasible at all to do this and would lead to more tax evasion and less knowledgeable people in higher up positions WHO WE NEED in higher up positions.
Douglas Adams summed up the whole people in leadership thing: "It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
The thing where people get mad about Transgender Day of Visibility reminds me of a FB post from a year or so ago. They had me fill out a profile for others to look at, and I looked through other people's profiles to see if I wanted to reach out to anyone to see if they would want to room with me. There weren't many profiles for me to look at, but nearly 90% of them had a note at the bottom where the person wrote in that they didn't want to room with any black or latina people. I'm pasty white, so I'm sure they would have been fine with me, but sure as hell knew I wasn't going to get along with them.
As a german, the whole student loan thing is such a wild concept to me, i'm at a pretty well respected university and i pay maybe ~320€ per semester, from which ~200€ are just for my public transport ticket. I can't imagine how it would be if we had to pay that much, given the many people i know who are struggling just with rent, if their parents don't pay for them, or even finding a flat to live in
I'm German as well but old ;) - in my days there was no Semestergebühr at all, because education should be public and free. We tried to fight it but they changed legislation.
Fellow German, I went to uni during the time that NRW had Studiengebühren. But because I was on the student council, I got it back at the end of each semester.

As life expectancy goes up, the age limit needs to go up with it. Genetics and lifestyle choices play a huge factor too. But we could have a medical life expectancy for each candidate based on their health metrics, and if they're less than 10 years away from their life expectancy date, they're not an acceptable risk. If we applied this principle to everyone, we could let people retire and access their pensions at a fair age, instead of forcing the same retirement age on everyone when some people have decades of good life left and other people die before they get to retire.
Some people don't realize when you have a system that by design maximises prices and minimises wages over time, you will reach a point where everything will become unaffordable.
Roly's opinion on greedy landlords and corporations are spot on. The problem in the US is these corporations need to continually make more and more year after year no matter what so now they do all these sketchy business practices or not following safety just to meet that goal and if they get sued they can just keep a worker tied up in court til they can't afford to fight it anymore. Trad wife incel Christianity is running a muck right now.
I just adore the fact that when Boomers were young adults they could live off their wages and now they think others don’t deserve that. It’s just so great
Roly is saying that they can't just move everything else for Easter, but Christians do exactly that. They'll be hearing him saying that "well, you can't just do that" and they will all be saying "yes you can, that's the normal thing to do". They move all the saint's days away (St George's Day isn't on April 23 half the time because it has to avoid the entire fortnight around Easter), they move people's birthdays. Of course it's all ridiculous, but that is literally what they expect.

Basically Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon that follows the spring equinox which is why the date changes every year. It’s like the Chinese new year which falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice on December 21
If the Chinese New year is reliant on a Solstice on 21/12 then they're getting a year every few years because the Solstices are not set dates because the lunar year and the calendar do not line up, so the Solstices move.

Within a year you're going to be promoted to manager, which comes with less work and higher pay!" Getting a job in the 2020's: "What do you mean you don't have 2 postsecondary degrees and 15 years of work experience? Why did you even apply to work at [insert job that pays slightly above the cost of living here]?! Not even the fast food place down the road will hire your 25 year old ass!" Everyone who can get a high-pay job now knows someone with a lot of influence in the place they apply for the job, or the job is basically inherited.
I'm on the autism spectrum and being put in a mental institution is one of my biggest fears. There's already so many people who don't believe much about anything. Being in an institution would only make that worse. I just want to live my own life how I want to. I don't tell someone else how they should live their life.
On the whole "that's the best you could come up with?" Topic, me and my wife (both trans), were walking to McDonald's a few days ago, and some lady in a big pickup truck rolled her window down and yelled that we were "fuckin weirdos" like.. Really? That's the best you could come up with?
... "Fucking weirdos" was the best she could come up with? Seriously? Wow, the hateful bastards must be really running outta options now that they're just throwing out playground insults now. Hope you and your wife are staying safe and having an amazing day.
On the topic of student loans and education, if I were to get a degree in illustration from the cheapest art college where I'm from, it would cost me $20k USD a semester- so $40k a year. Times 4 would be 160K for the degree and that's not including food, housing, supplies, ect. Other degrees are even more expensive. Like that's literally a house loan and then you also look down on us for not being able to afford that and a house as well and are mad we aren't happy?? They are so out of touch honestly...
Concerning the rent stuff, at least in the US, a lot of the management companies are driving up rent and they don’t care if people leave because they’re able to charge more at their other properties. It’s been revealed that some states are using a program for all of the landlords to charge maximum rent costs across the board. There are lawsuits going on to stop this but it really depends on if the administration will step in to protect renters. Another purpose for keeping buildings empty is that people can basically hide their wealth from being taxed in this way. There are some great More perfect Union reports addressing similar topics, I definitely recommend them.
Almost $8 per hour minimum wage in Kansas. If people did the math that was used to determine the minimum wage, but with the current cost of living, then minimum wage would be at least $23 per hour. In 2015 rent was around $500, but now it’s $1000 per month.

Click has talked about higher education in Sweden, he's said that not only do they not pay for their university, but they get paid to go. I've heard stories of people in the US paying back in the range of a hundred thousand dollars for their student loans over ten years or so....and they still owed more than the original amount.

First meme. I have been repeatedly apologized to by my dad because he was my first bully. He was ruthlessly bullied as a kid and so when he saw so much of himself in me he “tried to keep me from experiencing the same things he did” only to realize 25 years later that he was just being his bullies.

39:14 This ENTIRE discussion really hits home for me. That’s exactly why the alt-right TH-cam pipeline back in 2016 was so insidious and how I almost fell for it; there’s so much manipulation and twisting of truth at play. Back then, I was really into “cringe compilations” that would make fun of “social justice warriors” and manipulate the narrative to make it seem like they were taking things too far, but it led me down this rabbit hole of alt-right propaganda and disinformation against queer, trans, and neurodivergent people, women, and people of color, all masquerading as “jokes” and “entertainment.” I’m genuinely lucky I got out of it before I was too far in, but the whole thing left me with a TON of internalized LGBT+phobia, ableism, and misogyny that I’m resolving in therapy. This shit’s genuinely horrific and I can’t believe the number of people I used to know back then who never got out of the pipeline and are now alt-right conspirators.
yeah, that nearly happened to me, too. i was suuuuper into "anti sjw" and atheist youtube around that time. i'm lucky that i didn't fall that deeply into it and only was exposed to the surface level stuff, but i think the extremely scary thing is that's really all it was. luck. if i hadn't just started getting bored of how repetitive it was getting, or i hadn't listened to my gut when i started to catch Bad Vibes from a lot of the channels i watched, then there's a very real risk that's where i'd be now too. i'm really lucky that i just got bored with that content and pivoted hard to more scientific channels for a while, which was just enough of a palette cleanser that i started getting recommended some left leaning channels instead, some of which directly criticized the talking points the previous channels i'd watched had made, and it was *very* much a startling wake up call for me. i've learned a lot - and unlearned a lot - since then, but i know there's still so much more learning to do. it really is horrifying how easy of a trap that can be to fall into and how much damage it can do in such a short time
Honestly, a universal basic income would be absolutely amazing, and thankfully it might actually become a thing in our lifetime. I'm living with chronic pain and keep having the fun conversations with my doctor of "so are you still taking *list of medication*?" And having so say that I'm actually not taking half of those, because I have to choose between basic groceries or being able to walk without feeling like I have several knives in my gut. It's amazing.

The most people who have jewelry have either surgical stainless steel or titanium…. Because they are the least reactive.
29:59 the stereotype is a good example of right wing misunderstanding of how statistics work. See, there was a census category at one point about parents' marital status, which recorded a lot of unmarried mothers. And a lot of unmarried father's. The chuds read the part about mothers and decided to extrapolate, without qualitative data, that this was an indication of a higher number of SINGLE mothers. Which it isn't. Black people in the USA, on average, are poorer. Well known fact. Well, it costs quite a bit to get married, and those tax benefits actually tend to hurt you if you're too poor, so less black couples were/are inclined to marry than white couples. These were two parent households, with a higher number of unmarried couples, and it was (probably intentionally) misinterpreted as being a higher percentage of single mothers. There was no question or category relating to unmarried relationships on the census at that time. Various racist old men then took that idea and made trashy tv shows where they played up the infidelity of the black community, in the US and in countries outside of it like Australia and the UK.
(there are also other factors with a smaller deterrent effect on black people in regards to marriage, such as location and availability of marriage registers etc. but that's the most cited factor in choosing to stay unmarried, economic pressure)
(also the stereotype of the hypersexual black is an old one going right back to the transatlantic slave trade and the myths white people told to keep eachother afraid of black men and to justify their treatment of black women, and definitely played a huge role in the way that statistical misinterpretation was formed and why it was so readily accepted)
Can confirm in Australia if you're welfare dependent, marrying is almost always economic suicide. It's one of the reasons why disabled people find it impossible to live a "normal" life - if the government even thinks the person you share a home with is your partner, they'll slash your living allowance and remove most of your professional care supports because your assumed partner is now supposed to have a job that pays enough to support you financially and also be your full-time in-home carer for things like showers or meals if you can't manage those for yourself. Likewise if you're a single mother and find a new partner, the government will make you beg him for grocery money and your older kids' education expenses (that aren't his kids) because if you have a partner, you're supposed to be his financial responsibility now - whether he can afford that or not.
University student from Sweden here! Apologies for possible misspelling and grammar. Just thought I would shed some light on how university and loans work in my country. Attending a university in sweden is compleatly free for anyone who lives in the EU or the European Economic Area (EEA). You also don´t have to buy books for classes as they often can be found in the university library. However having your own books is often easier and then you´d have to pay for them yourself. To be able to afford to live you do not NEED to have a job, since there is a specific loan you can take. We have a state agency which only exists so that students can take loans (and grants) with a really low interest (1,23 % for 2024). The loan ofcourse has to be payed back but NOT the grants. The grants typically 1/3 of the total amout a student gets every month. The total amount is just above 13k in SEK (or just below 1k in pounds). I hope you found this information interesting! ^^ Btw Jamie make sure you paying of your actual debt and not just the interest, just a tip
Add another one to the long long list of ESL people online who use better grammar and spelling than almost anyone whose first language is English ever do.
As a university student from Norway, it works very similarly here :) Only differences I would note is that there is tution costs but it isnt more than 600 NOK each semester (At least that's what my university does and it isn't private). You can often borrow the books you need from the libaries, but if you are taking courses that aren't the most popular ones the liberary might have very few copies, so a lot of people do pay for either new books or second hand ones. The amount the student loan gives the student each month (if they are a fulltime student) is about 9k NOK. The first month of the semesters the student will get more. A lot of people do end up working part-time tho to be able to afford rent and food, as 9k per month often doesn't cover everything living in this expensive country. A nice thing about the loan is that if the student ends up in a situation that results in them not being about to work (disability, injury) they wont have to pay. I'm guessing Sweden does that too.
Had a customer asking for my number over and over (which happens a lot) and saying "why? Why? Why?" And I lied and said I was underage and he got angry and told another worker I should go back to the kitchen 😂😂❤
I could not agree more about the education part. When I finished college I had 3 degrees with a license included in one of them, and was one semester away from my bachelor's but had to drop out do to burn out & costs. However, up until my current job I could not find any jobs in my fields of study because they all wanted like 1+ years of experience & it's like: How is someone supposed to get experience if they can find work in that field? I ended up having to work for 2 years in jobs that could have gotten before even finishing high-school just to get into my current job. Absolutely makes zero sense for jobs to never or rarely hire people who are fresh out of school. I mean isn't that supposed to be the whole point of why entry lvl jobs exist? So that people fresh out of high-school or college can gain experience to get those positions that require more experience
Statistically, people who receive higher education are more likely to vote for left-leaning parties, which is why right-leaning parties want to restrict it as much as possible.
I bake quite frequently... Because I want to eat dessert lol. Maybe the men who make those "memes" should learn how to bake so they don't go without a homemade sweet treat (since I guess they don't believe in bakeries lol).
I would totally watch Jamie, Roly, Shaaba and Luxeria live-stream their commentary on the next UK general election! Now I need to go and buy a "Dinosaurs are cool: transphobia is not" t-shirt for my new friend. First genuine dinosaur nerd I've ever met IRL and also a trans woman. She deserves the shirt more than anyone I've ever met!
I’m an ex-Catholic and ex-conservative. They are both evil cults, and every single moment of my life now is spent trying to undo the harm I caused by parroting their horrible rhetoric. It hurts even more now that I’ve embraced my identity as Trans. I feel genuinely disgusted with my past self, and all I can do is promise to work hard every single day to be better. People can change, but it is such a painful, intimate, and difficult process; I think most people will never willingly do it because of that.
The answer to the question as to why the UK (and the US) like to gatekeep education, is so so the elite can uphold the status quo. Compared to countries on the European mainland, for example, it is a lot harder to get into university, especially if you aren't from a wealthy background and haven't gone to schools that really prime you for the application process, but once in, the overall level is shockingly low compared to the application standards. Compare that to a country like the Netherlands, where I did my undergrad, if you have the right pre-qualifications at pass grade, you can pick any university course you like (there are a few exceptions, such as medicine), and that's where the work starts. 5.5 out of 10 is a pass mark, but that usually equates to 60% or in some cases 70 or 80%. The system is a lot more flexible, less money-driven on the part of students (tuition is about €2,500 a year), but you have to pass a certain number of modules in your first year to be allowed to stay on the course. Whilst no system is perfect, you see a lot more social-economic mobility, but that is by no means the goal of the ones in power in the UK.

Also, if people are paid more for the crappier jobs they'll probably give better customer service due to having a better relationship with their work. It won't be "Oh god, I have to go in for my shift at the crap place that doesn't pay me enough anyway..." It'll be more likely to be "Welp, time to go to work but at least I'm earning enough so I'm not all stressed out about it." These kinds of people are always whining about poor customer service but never accept that it's due to poor customers.
Yeah, the thing about rent and that is totally accurate. The local public library were forced to vacate their premises because the owner raised the rent of the place to an untenable level. The spot where the local library used to be has stood empty ever since while the new location is crap, but affordable.

There has *literally* been people in mental institutes because they wouldn't perform their "wifely duties" with their arranged marriage husband. Think about that one for a second.
"I got a headache today."
"Hmm, that's what my last wife had before I put her in the mental institute for the rest of her brief life…"
Other reasons: Didn't want to work, didn't want to marry, so on and so forth. There was a period where anything other than "what the husband/father said to do" meant you got put into closed door mental "healthcare" and experimented on.
it's so sad how many women went through that for just having their own thoughts and opinions.
Even today, especially in the US, questioning any authority can get you diagnosed with a supposed mental health disorder.
i was gonna say, where the woke lived in the 60s? that doesn't look like a hippie commune. these people are so deranged and hateful they don't even know what "woke" means anymore.
I think there was a time when you could sew your husband for not getting it up... but that was earlier. doesn't reall balance anything out.. and the attempt to even balance anything out in that way is not very helpfull... I'm not being helpfull. but it amuses me. and that helps me.
Wow so I would have been locked up because there's a good chance I am infertile due to Chemo and Radical radiotherapy? Course I'd be dead anyway coz medicine like that didnt exist back then.

That was quite a nice tidbit of knowledge.
So Cicadas have the risk of mind + genital-replacing STDs.

The fact that the very first thing in this video is some guy admitting he thinks bullying your own children is okay makes me so sad.
some people don't deserve to be parents, i hope he doesn't have kids
They’re called dads😅. I agree with you, but most dads ARE like this whether kids are autistic, gay, trans, or just shy. They will bully you.
@@JDMimeTHEFIRST No they aren't. Because true father would ever bully their kid. If they do, they're an abuser not a father.
@@margotprestonThey’re still fathers. Abusers are not a second class of people. They can be any person in authority to hurt another.

@@Waspinmymind I think they meant the emotional meaning and connection of the word "father". So yeah, they're still biological parents but because they're abusers too they don't actually feel like a 'father'
So, the whole thing about Voter ID and racism comes from a couple of factors in the US:
1) The states with the highest Black population are among the poorest in the US
2) Those same states go out of their way to poorly run social services, with only one or two licenscing places open for a state whose area is comparable to the UK. Said licensing places are in the wealthier (read: white) parts of the state
3) Said states now require IDs to vote.
The UK government did recently bring in a voter ID law. They liked how much the far right in the US liked it.
The US got voter suppression down to a science. E. g. holding elections on workdays, it is completely unfathomable to me
You left out one more element, @chrissaldana: any time that African Americans or white progressives complain about all of this, Republicans respond by saying, "The Democrat Party is so racist, they think colored people are too stupid to get ID!"
Shit like this makes me baffled at how people think systematic racism isn't a thing. Or systematic oppression of marginalized groups in general.

Well.. i think the first stay was just for diagnosis... with my mothers agreement (she does her best) they took me out of my home and school for 3 months i think.. when i was 9.. to which i developed strong attachment issues..
So yk- fun!

The way the date for Easter is decided is very pagan.
The Catholics (and then Protestants) brought in all this gubbins about the first full moon after the equinox, and it has no real relation to Passover any more.
yea it's based on the moon cycle

Quick correction: you have to be at least 35 to be president in the US, not almost 40. Realistically older people are more likely to be elected based on their public presence and experience (for better or worse) but the actual age limit is only 35.
Matpat can run for office, let's gooooo

Yep. When my sister got her first job post uni, our father congratulated her "on making almost as much money as I did at my first real job". 30 years difference.

Jeri was actually wearing a plastic "boob plate" the fabric was attached to.
@@snorpenbass4196 There are only 4 "major producers" from Star Trek Voyager, 2 of them are women. The other 2 have no scandals attached to them that I can find. Ron Moore does, from his BSG reboot, but he was only on Voyager for a few weeks in season 6, 2 years after Jeri Ryan joined the show.

On top of that they're trying to implement a system where students over 18 have to buy their books which I don't even know how they could enforce since they would have to take free e-book lisences away from students??? Who then would have to buy those same books to study for finals they also need to pay for.
I am so glad I got out of high school right before this because how are people supposed to afford that??

Waffles: I don't even know where to begin with you, your post is just unintelligent and low effortn
Hyper: this wouldn't work at all.

With 2 kids and 1 job we physically can't do it right now.
I totally agree that there should be an age limit for president. There should be a max for age in all offices.

Click has talked about higher education in Sweden, he's said that not only do they not pay for their university, but they get paid to go.
I've heard stories of people in the US paying back in the range of a hundred thousand dollars for their student loans over ten years or so....and they still owed more than the original amount.
I like that adults with an imaginary friend, they insist om exists but no one can see and they cant prove are real.. but believe that this friend created everything.. are so fast to judge others
I do not condemn people who believe in a god. Just making a joke on them claiming things based on superficial appearances of others, but totally ignorering their own PR faults 😂
Ok thats pretty funny when its worded like that. Kind of a "He who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones." thing.

Depends on the jewelry. And non-magnetic doesn't mean it won't go off in a metal detector, most metal detectors detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals
@@qryptid well yeah if you’re buying crap jewelry that isn’t either surgical stainless steel or titanium then yea it might go off… if the drawer is either nickel or brass and yeah, it’s likely to go off and it’s cheap jewelry that you probably shouldn’t have to begin with.
Reading this just made me sad, humanity was a mistake
Btw Jamie make sure you paying of your actual debt and not just the interest, just a tip
Your spelling and grammar were excellent
Should I move to Sweden lmao
Alternatively, left-leaning parties want to use tax money to create more voters for themselves

It won't be "Oh god, I have to go in for my shift at the crap place that doesn't pay me enough anyway..." It'll be more likely to be "Welp, time to go to work but at least I'm earning enough so I'm not all stressed out about it."
These kinds of people are always whining about poor customer service but never accept that it's due to poor customers.
Yeah, the thing about rent and that is totally accurate. The local public library were forced to vacate their premises because the owner raised the rent of the place to an untenable level. The spot where the local library used to be has stood empty ever since while the new location is crap, but affordable.
