If you guys use this, please remember to be careful. Too much pressure on the skin, ESPECIALLY if it’s a dragging pressure, can cause premature wrinkles. This type of thing is best used with a moisturizer. That way it still gets a massage, but it doesn’t stretch the skin too much and it moisturizes the skin at the same time. I always use a super dense flat foundation brush to work my skincare in. I’m thinking about investing in a jade roller too, because I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. The only true downside to a gua sha is if you use it too much and if you use it on a dry face, especially in the eye area. The best skincare tip you will ever receive: ALWAYS. GO. GENTLE. Unless you’re seeing a dermatologist and they give you specific treatments or recommendations, always go gentle. Gentle cleanser. Gentle toner. Gentle moisturizer. Gentle EVERYTHING. If it goes on your face, make sure it is gentle. I promise you will see an improvement.

@@mnybags07 it's probably both. The body has like 60% of water, so yeah there is fluid in your body that the lymphatic system helps to carry. The lymphatic system is quite similar to the cardiovascular system. But unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system doesn't have a mechanical pumping system (aka the heart that helps carrying the blood) to keep the fluid moving. Sometimes it needs extra help and massage is a manual way to do that. Thats why sometimes people have swollen face or even swollen calf and legs. It's all buildup fluid.

Although these results are a bit extreme, gua sha is so good for reducing inflammation by draining toxins in the lymph of the face/neck. I notice a difference in my jawline in 3 days and definitely notice when I don't use it. Do it every night with some moisturiser for 5 minutes, it's actually really beneficial. Facial massage is very underrated.

@@lisagust3639 No, its not permanent if you stop doing it. It's like you work hard to buid your abs, but your abs will eventually disappear if you stop working on it. Facial massage is good bc it helps lymphatic drainage. Lymphatic system is quite similar to cardiovascular system, but unlike the lymphatic system, the cardiovascular system is a heart that helps carying blood all over the body while the lymphatic system doesn't. Hence, sometimes it need extra help to manually move the fluid in your body. Remember that the body makes up like 60% of water, so yeah. Gua Sha is wonderful!!! I'm almost 50. I've been doing Gua Sha for a week now and I see a considerable difference in my face. Even I did Gua Sha on my body during the weekend and it was wonderful!!! Aging is a natural process. We need to relax on the crazy expectations of looking forever young. For me, the most important thing is to feel and look HEALTHY. To have that healthy glow in your eyes that tells you are happy and fulfilled. Beauty will wane, but when you reach certain age health is the most valuable treasure of life. Stress less, take care of yourself, eat well, sleep well, laugh often, leave behind inadequate relationships, live life to its fullest!

Be cautious if you use it anywhere near the eye! The skin there is super thin and fragile, especially when you’re a bit older. The best thing you can do is to use some moisturizer with the gua sha. Just put a little bit around your face and use the gua sha to work it in. It still gives a really nice massage, but it doesn’t drag and cause more wrinkles.

Gua sha is amazing, it helped me define my jaw line and make it more symmetrical. I’ve been doing it for a year now and I have much less noticeable sagging in the jowl area too. What I’ve noticed is it relieves tense face muscles that would make me look older if always activated. I iron out the tension between my eyebrows then those muscles become less active in the future and prevent deeper lines. It’s become part of my self care routine and feels like a nice relaxing gift to myself during stressful times

For your case I would strongly, strongly recommend you consult your oncologist first to confirm you don't have any contraindications for massage, and then see if they know any qualified lymphatic drainage massage therapists to refer you to. If you happen to be in Colorado I can definitely find you people trained in the modality, it's not one I studied myself but many people at my massage school did extra training in it. It helps take away puffiness of the face. You get a more sculpted look. That's why ppl say it looks like a facelift. It doesn't last forever. Some ppl do it twice a day. Morning and night or just when they wake up. You can't forget to moisturize with a serum when using the tool. It's a consistent thing.
