TH-cam algorithm is on a new level. I've only been thinking about my emerging double chin yesterday. Though, my coworker did talk about it. I don't remember having my phone with me.
I appreciate this video so much. I agree about neck health. My jaw is normally pretty defined, and my neck is usually slender and long, but because my neck was misaligned resulting in muscle tightness, I started to lose my definition and my neck looked very thick. After I got my neck adjusted at the Chiro and acupuncturist, my jaw instantly came back and my neck looks normal again. With your videos, I now know how to prevent it from happening again.
Hi Sandra! Thank you so much for posting about the strumming! I am learning so much from your tutorials. I love the garden metaphor to help visualize the how and why for these movements! I already use body stretching and manual massage with my hands on the skin to move my energy so this is confirming to what I already intuitively felt to do, but I'm enjoying having a tool to use on the skin along with these techniques and excited to see what results come from being consistent. I've taken what I've learned from your facial work and applied it to working on the rest of the body but I would love to see a routine from you that I could incorporate for the whole body. I am also curious if you would work on the front torso of the body (the chest and abdomen) with a Gua Sha tool and how you would do that. For my back, since I can't reach it myself, I could just use my foam roller. I did take a look through your classes and didn't see one specifically on the lower body.
I missed my physical therapy app yesterday. She works on my neck tension. This video helped tons to help release my neck. I feel so much better. Thank you. This advice is indispensable.
Hello Sandra! To me is a huge pleasure to watch your videos and learn more about gua sha! I’ve been doing since the first time I watched you and OMG my life has changed since then! I bought some tools (wish I could buy yours but not yet.. yet!) and every single day I do my gua sha, in the morning and night before bed.. I suffer from bruxism and since I started to do gua sha.. everything changed! Thank you so much!!! I’m a fan of yours! ❤
Would love a tutorial for puffy under eyes and dark circles. I know there is one you can buy but a quick demo for us people with zero 💵 would be amazing. Thank you for all your amazing knowledge.
Love your videos!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Can you show how to reduce or eliminate the tear trough puffiness that happens. Thank you again!
Thank you that was very detailed and informative. May I ask about the electrode type thing that was in your opening video. Is it similar to microcurrent on top of the Accupunture needles?
You are so sweet:) That is an electric stimulation machine that we use often in Acupuncture practice. This one I used microcurrent energy to lightly stimulate needles during a brow relaxation treatment.
Hey Sandra, Thank you for sharing your experiences. They're really helpful. Please share 'mouth gua sha' technique, please. Like how to do gua sha on smile lines etc.
Wow, I am so glad i found this channel, you are so professional! Subscribed and gonna look for more interesting videos of you.😎 Thank you for sharing! 😍😍😍
Hi I am new to your channel and I love the massage For my neck and I started today by the way do you have anything for under eye bags I would love to see if you have a video on that thank you so much
Hi, love your videos. I use my Gua Sha tool daily. It’s fabulous ( I have a pink quartz). What techniques with the Gua Sha tool can help with Marionette lines above the lip area. Please advise. Thanks🦋
We just did a class called TCM Eye Lift! You can find the playback on lanshin.com. We also have a bunch of other short routines on IG, like this post we made on eye Gua Sha: instagram.com/reel/C1dGHFquMgP/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
I am very acneic but want to start doing this. What would u recommend for a facial oul that WILL NOT cause an acne breakout? Thank you this is wonderful.
Thanks so much for sharing this strumming technique, Sandra! 🧡 Probably a strange question.. but I'm just curious how long this particular neck & jaw lifting technique would have been around for? Thank you! I'm still enjoying doing the Gua Sha routine as per one of your videos from some time ago now! Best wishes! 🧡💫🧡
Tbh I'm not really sure. I started doing this intuitively during patient treatments. And now use it often, even on myself! It's similar to the Bo Jin technique I discussed 2 videos ago, except this strumming technique creates more vibration. It reminds me of Qi machines - or vibration plates...except for the face:) I love what a bit of strumming and soothing smoothing Gua Sha strokes can do!
You can get a great result with just a hydrator (you can even use distilled water), followed by an oil. You could try adding few drops of black castor oil (my favorite is by Shea Terra) into whatever cream or lotion that you use. Or, you could pair black seed oil with a few drops of castor oil on top of damp and skin. We carry both on lanshin.com if that helps!
I tried this with my regular gua sha tool and it feels amazing ! Can this also be done on the back of the neck? (I’m a pole dancer with flexible arms and shoulders 😂)
I want juicy skin!! The girl in the before and after. My skin is like that!! Did she use a special acne treatment? Or did she fix that with just guasha?? 😮 I need to know!!
Hi Sandra, if I want to apply serum, do I put it on after I’m done with gua sha. This is off the topic but I saw one of your video about millet helping with sleep. What time of the day should I be eating it? Thank you so much. Have a nice day.
You can apply your serum whenever you normally would -- i.e. after hydrator and before oil. Doing Gua Sha on top of your products helps work them into the skin! As for millet, we would recommend around dinner time in the evening so that it can help you get restful sleep.
This cream leaves my skin with a dewy, glowy finish that amazes me every time I use it. The trick is to apply it like a mask, painting it on until the whiteness of the cream disappears and you’re left with a light layer. Like some kind of magic trick, your skin is suddenly mega moisturized and plump as a peach. The way it reflects light in some ways better than actual makeup blows my mind. And I don’t only see it on my skin, I see it on my patients too!
Adipeau actually glides through the hair follicles into the skin and activates the production of new small fat cells that lift our skin. That's why one should only finger paint it on and let it absorb for at least 10 minutes. I love this cream. Thanks for this great video!
Uhmmm idk if its my imagination.... but I noticed that my jawline was A LOT more visible when I finished the rutine, my skin is sooo soft and that thing about the flem is true LOL
Always good to check with your MD or personal acupuncturist first! But it can be okay to massage directly on it, as long as you're using super gentle force -- I’ve had patients and students tell me how helpful it has been for their thyroid condition (or helping them discover a goiter condition).
You should always ask your injector when they recommend that you do facial Gua Sha or massage after a fresh injection. In general, I use the guideline of three weeks after a fresh injection -- this is when I would feel comfortable doing Gua Sha on Botox treated areas.
We like to treat Gua Sha as the end of our skincare routine -- and the oil is the moisturizer! The Gua Sha helps work your products in to the skin. So we typically don't wash the face again afterwards.
Yes! There are oils that are specifically formulated for this. Some of our favorites include the black seed oil from Shea Terra and the Sea berry oil from Apoterra!
Hi I'm brand new to this routine, can I ask how long does it take to notice a difference? I don't have too bad a skin in 53 and have recently noticed my jaw and neck are looking a bit ( not much) slack
Hard to say for certain, I would try doing this every day for 3-4 weeks, and make sure you take before and after photos -- it can be hard to lose track of progress when you are looking at your face every day.
If you’re looking to see visible results, consistency is key! We would recommend doing Gua Sha at least 3 times per week to see noticeable changes. If you’re looking to see big changes in your face, you can try doing 30-40 minutes of Gua Sha daily for 2-4 weeks, then dropping the duration and frequency to be in a maintenance phase
will this help with Jowls/sagging cheeks/mouth corners? I'm 32 with and almost 3 year old and now I'm starting to get forehead lines and jowls 🥲any budget friendly advice ??
Doing Gua Sha consistently (3+ times per week) can create visible changes in your face! Everyone’s results are different and depend on their skin and facial muscle, but we would suggest working these areas every day for a month, and take pictures to see what changes you notice. In terms of budget-friendly products, we really love Shea Terra’s line for affordable but high-quality mists and oils.
I am always working on my neck to tighten my neck, but I also have bags under my eyes and eye lids seem to make my eyes look smaller how can I correct this?
A consistent Gua Sha routine can help your undereyes! If you are interested, we did a whole class about it here: lanshin.com/collections/on-demand/products/2845307
This may help drain lymph or swelling- but it is NOT going to reverse your facial skin from naturally sliding downward with age, creating “turkey neck”. Only surgery can truly change jowls and Turkey neck.
Of course there are some conditions this won’t be as effective for, especially if there is an excess of skin already formed, or if adipose tissue has formed an “out-pocketing.” But we felt it is worth showing for all the people who will find benefit from this. We’ve seen surprising results clinically. Remember that there is not one thing that will help everyone, but everyone will be helped by something out there. And if Gua Sha is your jam, then we’re here to help. You don’t always have to go right to surgery with the right guidance.
TH-cam algorithm is on a new level. I've only been thinking about my emerging double chin yesterday. Though, my coworker did talk about it. I don't remember having my phone with me.
I know! It’s scary when this happens. Happens to me too! I wonder…..am I THAT predictable?
I bought a gua sha kit today. I didn't tell my phone either or even discuss it with the phone ....
Its true, its happened to me too
Yeah. Happened to me too. Scary. Big Brother is both listening & watching.
They are spying on you…and all of us!

Sandra Hello 🌸 it’s day one and I love it. Teeth grinding has tension dissolved. I feel a huge release. Enjoying being in the present. Thank you 🌸
That feels amazing - I was not expecting that. 10/10 stars of amazing. And all did was use my hands!
Nice work!

I missed my physical therapy app yesterday. She works on my neck tension.
This video helped tons to help release my neck. I feel so much better. Thank you. This advice is indispensable.
The strumming is so satisfying. After I did this, I felt the tension at the top of my head release.

5:18 oh I love that muscle overlay. Great job! Really helps me visualize the muscle. As a yoga teacher I really think I’m terms of the muscle
Really glad I’ve found your videos! I would really appreciate an eye lift gua sha tutorial if possible. Thank you for what you do :)
We actually have an upcoming class this week on eye lifting techniques! You can check it out at lanshin.com under our Courses :)
Absolutely love TCM - especially for skincare. You are such a gift to us to learn how to do it properly.
Thanks Sandra, you are my first and best gua sha and face/body teacher. Such a great message you spread!
I absolutely love doing this with the comb. I have your jade comb and it is stunning and feels so good during the strumming. Thank you!
I love how simple this is. I puff up alot in my face so everything helps. 😊
Wow this felt so good! Can’t wait to see what else you come out with!

Hi Sandra
Do you apply Adipeau before or after make up to get that glow. Thanks
I often won't wear foundation after I put on Adipeau because I love the glow, but I'll sometimes use blush, eye products, etc after Adipeau!
Thoughts on mineral oil or tallow/ lard for face ?
I tried this with my regular gua sha tool and it feels amazing ! Can this also be done on the back of the neck? (I’m a pole dancer with flexible arms and shoulders 😂)
Yeah! If you can comfortably reach it you can definitely work the back of the neck
Thank you! Thank you very much
Can we do this if we have thyroid?
Amazing!!!
How often should you do this?
3-5 times a week is a good way to get into a gua sha habit!

What about gua sha'ing down or up the neck? Which is good- down or up (after strumming)? Thanks
Either up or down would work, but pick one direction to go in and avoid zig-zagging back and forth.

Yes it can be!
Thanks for sharing

We like to treat Gua Sha as the end of our skincare routine -- and the oil is the moisturizer! The Gua Sha helps work your products in to the skin. So we typically don't wash the face again afterwards.

will this help with Jowls/sagging cheeks/mouth corners? I'm 32 with and almost 3 year old and now I'm starting to get forehead lines and jowls 🥲any budget friendly advice ??

Can u tell me small size will work or not?plz reply me
Can I use my hands if I don’t have a gua sha tool ?
Yeah! Try and use your knuckles/bone as that will more closely be like the hardness of a gua sha tool.
Sure
I always do gua sha before my skincare and then wash my face after. I’m I doing a disservice to my skin ?
We like to do gua sha as the last step in our routine before makeup/spf/heavy creams. It helps work our products more into the skin.

Medium pressure -- just keep it "yummy" feeling
