Does it matter on which part of the foot the bottom of the brace is placed (inside vs outside screw)? Some of your literature shows the bottom brace in the outside position.

No, it does not matter which side it is placed on. The only thing that matters is that the included spacer is installed between the X-Brace and the scissor jack bottom mounts.
