- I found another welder for a good price but it needed a complete restoration cosmetically. Welds fantastically but someone painted this one Miller blue!! Yikes!
This is the voiceover version
Sweet video! just picked the same one for $100 that needs a little elbow grease. this video will help out alot.
So glad to help. They are great welders.
Nice, I bought a used one like this back in 1998 for 60 bucks, the guy got a mig welder so he sold it cheap, it's in great shape.
That’s a very good price! Thanks for watching and your comments.
I just put some wheels on my Miller thunderbolt but I used some cutter pins and flat washers to hold my wheels in place
@@hubertrobinson8825 hey if it works then go with it! The Thunderbolts are nice but I’ve yet to own one.
Got my first one today and geez I was not expecting how heavy they were 😂 but I definitely love it rather then the Chicago electric flux 125, and definitely upgrade
Oh yeah these things are bullet proof as well! Great compact welder with a lot of power! If the selector switches get stuff open up the back side and put dielectric grease on the contacts. It’ll be evident when you look inside at the switches.
Picked it up for dirt cheap at a garage sale and I’ve been looking for one for months!! My grandpa had one years ago when he turned boat trailers into utility trailers, im ganna finally test it when I get home tonight
@@juanitogonzales-uj4pe Fantastic! Glad you got a great deal! I would be shocked if it did not work. I have found these things beaten half to death and they still welded beautifully!
Got home last night and played with it a little watched a few vidoes on striking a arc and I got it down within a few mins burned through some rods practicing beads but I got it down, ganna mess with it some more here in a little
Good morning I have a welder that was my brothers it’s been in the shed for years , he’s gone so it’s mine I never used it but you have given me the inspiration to try it so today’s project is to get the sucker out and pluged in [ it’s been too long] what’s the worse that can happen ??????? [ ugly welds ] he was great at everything [not so for me ]Buzzing away Bernie
That's great Bernie! These are fantastic little welders and worth the effort, plus to have something of your brothers will mean that much more! May the LORD bless you this day!
I had a sticky control knob too and couldn't figure it out at first. I tried to put dielectric grease on the switch's gears but that didn't help at all. Finally came to the conclusion that the plastic arm that the knob screws too is slightly warped and it prevents the brass contact from moving up and down when it needs to when switching amps. I rounded out the holes of the contact with a file and straightened it as it was slightly bent. Didn't put any grease on contacts as not sure what would have happened with such high current. Works much better although it probably needed the plastic arm (10 bucks or so from Lincoln). I can now decently move the arm if I push it down slightly when turning. I haven't seen that mod in any videos about these welders yet.
I use dialectric grease on all my switches and haven't had any issues. Makes them switch very easily and smooth. Frankly that made a big improvement in how it felt to me.
nice look awesome i have 2 of these units too
Two of them!!!! Super nice! These are soooo under rated! Great welders!
much better,thank you
The rustoleum paint and primer combo paint is prone to lifting up if you get a little bit too much paint on an area, due to the amount of solvent in the paint. Separate primer and paint or no primer gives the traditional rustoleum finish
Thank you! I didn’t realize, no one has ever told me why that can happen.
I just repainted my ac 225 and ran into a problem. I used what I had on the shelf. I used Rustoleum primer 2 in 1 to go over the whole thing and let it dry for 2 hrs. I than went over with Duplicolor red and got a wrinkled spot on the front. I scraped it off (went right to bare metal) and reprimed and repainted and now I have a bigger wrinkled spot on the edges. I just left it. Looks better than original. I'm guessing that the primer just didn't protect the original paint sufficiently from the Duplicolor.
My Rustoleum did a similar thing....very frustrating. Not sure why that happened in my case as I had never had that happen before??
Singer is connected to top welding lead? Just bought on but my stinger connected to bottom welding lead not sure if this is right
I do not think it matters as long as the inside connection is correct. If it welds good then leave it as is.
What type of paint did you use on the transformer?
Going off of my flawed memory.....I believe I only used Rustoleum's "heavy rusted metal primer". on the transformer.
