    Also if you liked the artwork from this video you can buy prints, stickers, tshirts and more of it here:

      Pearberrie One Thing Two mention is that in the past promarkers came off easily. I would suggest carrying them in that clamshell case. I had a huge collection of promarkers at one time and the Caps came off. I never used them again.

    I feel like a lot of art supply reviewers are way too biased towards copics. They'll talk about flaws in certain markers and totally ignore the fact that copics have the same problem. They defend copics like they would a god hahaha. This is a great video though and a beautiful drawing:)

      I've noticed that! I think Copic is overrated, personally. xD
      So many comparisons show that, and because of the price point, people think it's better.
      Not the case.

    I feel like I've seen so many markers that would out class (or at least contend evenly) with copics if they just produced refills (and more colors).

  • @johnoakwood6363

    they also have a brushmarker version with a brush nib and a chisel nib for people that prefer that!

  • @binkiebonk
    @binkiebonk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I kind of find that having a bullet nib benefits me when it comes to using both sides. People ultimately end up on exclusively using a brush nib to color instead of the other nib which defeats the purpose of having a double sided marker. With a bullet nib and chisel nib, I find that I’m able to make use of both sides. This is also why I think that cheaper alternatives should only have a brush nib and that’s it. That way, they’ll probably save more money then trying to add that one extra nib.

    • @mcaprisun
      @mcaprisun 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i never really thought about that haha
      i’m getting some promarkers soon since they’re cheaper than the brush ones, so this made me feel better and i think it’ll be cool trying to get used to different tips

    I got a 24 set of these pens a couple years back and so far only 1 has run out from usage and 1 dried out. I did send the dried out one back to Winsor And Newton, as it came in the packaging already dried up, and they gave me a new one. 👍🏾

    That's a great review :) I also have these markers for quite some time now and I still love them! Winsor & Newton offers so many great colors *_*
    About your downside (no refills for the markers): I simply order refills by Copic. I think Copic offers every colour there is :D So I simply try to compare the color I want to refill and a color chart by Copic. I ordered two refills so far and it worked pretty good :) It's so much cheaper than buying a new marker.

    • @Pearberrie
      @Pearberrie  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Junifarben Illustration that's really interesting idea! Since the marker is empty anyway might as well right? Although I wish they had refills of their ink since that's the biggest draw for me but very interesting solution for sure!

    I've had extremely limited experience with Copic Sketch and Promarkers, but from what I can tell I think the two will work well together. I prefer the brush tip on the Copics (compared to the Promarker Brush's brush tip), but ohhhh boy that bullet nib on the Promarkers. Since I can't quite decide between the two, I'm going to basically go with the both option: 36 Copic Sketch, 48 ProMarkers (Arts & Illustration set, as well as the Student Designer set), and 24 ProMarker Brush (Student Designer set), and then once I have more experience with both I'll make a decision at that point. I'll have to double check one thing though, because I can find the smell the Copics have to be somewhat overwhelming after a little while (I use their blender marker here and there to dissolve my Derwent Inktense pencils) and I totally forgot to check what I thought of the scent the Promarkers have.
    What I'm really curious about though is whether I'll prefer the Faber Castell Pitt Dual Markers or alcohol ones...

    Hi I love yr tutorial of the bat girl thank you. I would like to know as I have no markers do I have to buy a few sets to start off with or could I get somewhere with just buying one set for now.

    • @Pearberrie
      @Pearberrie  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For most markers I have started off by just buying a few markers individually. My whole copic collection was bought 1 by 1 because I could not afford a set so I would suggest buying what you can afford and what you like best :) you can always mix and match different art supplies as you go as well. I used to only have 12 markers so I made them stretch more by layering the colors and adding color pencil or pastels or paint on top, whatever I had on hand to fill any color gaps I needed to fill :) hope that helps!

    • @Pearberrie
      @Pearberrie  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so glad! I didn’t use the promarker paper, I considered buying it because I heard it’s really good but I don’t really like marker paper in general so I decided not to buy it. I just used the paper I usually use for markers which is the hammermil paper, I linked it in the video description if you want more info :) any smooth card stock, smooth Bristol or manga illustration papers usually work well with markers. Marker paper makes the markers look brighter and nice but it’s very thin so you can’t layer much which is why I don’t like it.

Ive used copic for years and whilst I agree that these markers are very very good and worthy of their praise.... they (for me) are not as good as copic.... BUT to be honest, they shouldnt be... copic cost 2x as much... ( initial set cost, copics arent bad to fill / replace tips etc. once you have the colors you want)
    Youre absolutely right about the colors though.... very rich and bright.
    It is subjective though.... its a personal thing....for me, if you can afford it.... copic are better (again, thats just for me, they may not be for you)

    Not trying to be rude but these markers suck! I got some with my birthday money and as soon as I started using them they were not what I was expecting. They bled through the sketchbook paper, the ink spread out, and I used a peachy skin color marker that wasn't peach at all. It was a weird looking beige.

    • @Pearberrie
      @Pearberrie  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no :( that’s ok though it’s not rude to dislike something! It’s good to have your own options :) for ink spreading that tends to be worse on some paper types it’s better on card stock and marker paper but more porus papers like computer paper and some sketchbook papers it spreads like crazy and can be a pain to control but it’s the same for all markers. Bleed through is pretty normal for markers too I don’t use the other side so I don’t worry on it but if you buy render brand paper they made bleed proof paper and sketchbooks :) but yeah sometimes colors are not as expected with markers it’s best to swatch them out to be sure of the color but it can be so disappointing when buying markers when you can’t get the shade you were hoping for :(

    10 x better as copic .. my new set copic even had 3 broken markers in it leaking like hell, the colors are mehhh, specialy the grey tones .. the copic fine liner sux to.. rather use Graphic or winsor & newton ..so for tripple the price copic is like tripple as bad in qualety of the color and in the material the marker is made of ( cheap china stuf for the max price ).. copic is a farse specialy for students who are forced to take copic for study material ... i swear by winsor &newton

    I loved the review, I have a few myself and I really enjoy them. But I'm slightly irked because you said you were missing a skintone but you had a brown in the set. Even though I understand what you meant even with further explanation it was kind've disheartening

    • @Pearberrie
      @Pearberrie  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ngozi oh no I'm sorry about that :( honestly I struggled with the voice over for this video I recorded over 30 takes (not exaggerating) until I couldn't remember what I said and didn't. originally I was saying I used the yellow and pink in the shadows to get peachy tone and I used the cocoa brown but I was annoyed with the brown cause I wanted to add more depth by layering pink or red but the other colors don't layer well with the brown. If you check out my how to use chisel tip markers video towards the end I showed the sketches I had done in my sketchbook while getting used to these and the brown was the first skin tone I used :) but I am sorry I forgot to put that back in and left you disappointed :( I do struggle with getting darker skin tones to look right but these days I do try to draw more beautiful darker skin ladies :)

    Meh the black isn't really that great you're better off using a fine liner or even a Sharpie

    • @artistart8010
      @artistart8010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joe Kerr Sorry to burst you’re bubble but I use these but with a brush tip and the Black is actually black for once compared to a sharpie or a fineliner . A fineliner or sharpie actually just bleed and since promakers are actually are able to blend you are better off with them . However a sharpie does not blend at all and is better off with a colouring book . It’s called Noir ( black ) for a reason , that’s because it’s a good black ink . She did say that she was amazed by the ink quality coming out of them . Sharpies are more streaker and are hard to use due to the hard tip , compared to promakers . Fineliners are only ment for outling a drawing not colouring in 😂

    • @cnsmooth
      @cnsmooth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Artist Art you can't be very bright. How are you meant to blend with black loool black is meant for outlines for the majority of the time you use it regardless of it is a marker or outliner. I have the black Brushmarkers as they give you 2 in the greys set and yeah they are just not dark enough. Outliners have the darkest black out of all three and if you are doing small areas yes you can use the to colour in. If I had to do late areas of black I probably would use the Promarkers but you would definitely see the difference between where the outline is and the Promarkers is

    • @cnsmooth
      @cnsmooth 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Artist Art noir just means black in French. All Promarkers have the French spelling of their name on the side not just black. I'm thinking you are fairly young so I will stop with my insults

    • @artistart8010
      @artistart8010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joe Kerr Ever heard of layers ? Clearly not. You do realise every thing what is ment for artist , what is black is called Noir and not every single brush maker has the french spelling. I didn’t say blending with black did I ? I actually ment not being able to blend with other similar colours . “ you can’t be very bright “ obviously more brighter than a person who thinks sharpies black is better than promakers or brushmakers . Expain how I have used Noir a lot in my drawings then ? Wait let me answer that since you clearly haven’t used brushmakers for very long , you can use them for hair , clothing , bracelets , cartoons and makeup . Mabey you’re cool gray one and two would be darker if you actually decide to layer them like I do with everysingle colour since you can do that . Yep I bet you will stop with you’re senseless insults because you have nothing else to say since you would rather waste you’re money on over priced copics when you can get brushmakers/promakers for cheap money .

    • @artistart8010
      @artistart8010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just to put it in there where is you’re grammar because all I can see is that you know how to use a full stop 😂 . Artist these days who juge things asoon as they get them . Paint or anything else labelled “ black “ actually seems to be gray and not black , how else would you want it to be because I think you would want it to be gray kid . I bet you’re have only had brushmakers for a week and just frew them in the corner because they are too hard to use . I have had them for 3 years and never had any trouble with them and been able to make the best titles and good quality drawings without it eating up the paper , breaking the paper , leaving it’s bits everywhere , not being able to blend or being streaky . Just admit that I am in the right and you are in the wrong because you should just go back to you’re daily life of drawing stickmen . Just a tip before puting you’re false opinion out here , try them a little bit more and get used to them being able to layer , blend and stuff without eating away at you’re false comments. I bet you don’t even have them and just juging on them . You call that an insult that was barely one .
