There was a roadmap of amd cpu progression back in 2017 on their official website. at that time, shares were like $10, now shares are $53. If people actually read and researched a company, they wouldn't regret not buying, especially when the company showed their roadmap, that is a traders godsend.

Seeing Intel get absolutely stomped on while everyone made memes of AMD in the past, is easily one of the most glorious things I have witnessed in the community of PC Components.
I knew enough to stop mocking amd once zen began sounding like a serious architecture, but man there was a lot of people still memeing amd saying zen was gonna be another fx series flop. I'm sure tons of them are now in the comments section here mocking intel as though they weren't fanboys themselves. And then even after ryzen launched, tons of people still mocked amd because the first generation of zen architecture wasn't on part with Intel's 3rd generation of skylake, or whatever skylake rehash they were on at the time. Those are the ones I'm really enjoying thinking about right now.

It's fun to see Linus THIS excited over cpu releases, we really did go through some dark ages with things stagnating after FX launch. AMD put all their chips down and risked possible bankruptcy if Ryzen flopped, but goddamn the returns have been massive

Amd is going to capture more share in consumer PC and enthusiast market that is building PC's on a set budget. People that need crazy processing power like labs will keep overspending grant money on the higher end machines.
nallen100 you do realize these are different classes of processors right? The 3100 and 3300 are budget cpus that go for 100-120 dollars, while 7700k is a flagship from a few years ago that still goes for twice as much.

Said fuck that shit and sold the mobo/cpu for $350 and got me some ryzen for an extra $150 out of pocket. My 1600 is still working great in my x370 taichi with 16gb of ram. Plan to upgrade to a 3900x when next gen ryzen drops to get a discount.
My 22 Core Xeon is running for way longer than Ryzen 1000 exists no idea what these kids are talking about ... all AMD did was making it more affordable for people who mostly don't need it and would be fine with a 3600X.

After seeing the amount of competition AMD and Intel has, I want AMD to be on top but their cooling, on basic stock cooler is kinda debatable. I want their progress on all ends. Especially since they provide such great CPU's at such great prices. I wish they did better on cooling. Just that and I'll ditch my awestruck fandom for Intel.

Also Linus 3 Months later: Im doing a huge collaboration with Intel and their new processors.
I had bought a Z390 Aorus Master motherboard on 22 April for my new build, and I was going to get a 9900k. Returned it to the Memory Express in Burnaby on Wednesday to swap it for an X570 Aorus Master and bought a 3900x while I was there. Very glad I caught my near mistake and went with Team Red.

these tests are done with no OC because AMD is awful for OC. You bought the 7700K because you can overclock an unlocked processor. Dont worry your 7700K at 5 MHz still blows away the 3300X

I remember the regret I had after purchasing AMD fx8350.. But I stuck with it for a long time and finally decided to switch to Intel i7 (unwillingly). Luckily AMD had already released ryzen first gen and announced the arrival of second gen.. Finally got myself a ryzen. I have no regrets and it's good to see them doing well..
Can I have some recommendations on what to pair these two with? I was planning to only get 3400g with iGPU but now I changed my mind and wanna get a GPU instead.

You mentioned the overclocking headroom of the 7700k. You need to win the lotto with that chip or you get to stay at base. I can't get above 4.7ghz and it is a furnace.

The beginning of AMD coming back happened when they won and got their Jaguar chip into both PS4 and XBOX one . With stable guaranteed revenue stream they got the breathing room and time to plan and execute Ryzen. Have a feeling they are planning something similar with their GPU division. Give them few years and they might turn corner on Nvidia as well

I was in a coma for 2 weeks and had to move in with my mother. Covid postponed my open heart surgery. Replacing my tricuspid. But since getting out of the hospital I've begun 3 different community programs, 1 for children,2 for addicts and networking, all of them about dnd. I'm working on a rick persona, i even want to start a TH-cam channel. But as it is I'm in a small home with my mother and hey boyfriend. Because of how small the house is,and my hopes to get into Drexel after surgery (i think wizards of the coast has a bright future in vr and i would love to champion it) I'm thinking I'm going to have to buy a laptop, but my original plan was to build a pc to go with my quest. My quest is the only piece of tech i have, i miss being a part of this world so much! If you have any tips or advice, i know i said i want to build one but again, i think I'm pretty handcuffed to the need for a good laptop. Even if i can find a place to keep my pc after i build one i can't afford a monitor or keyboard! Lol I'm working with a budget, please help!

I'm thinking of upgrading my old Ryzen 5 1500X to a Ryzen 5 3600X. The 3600X should work on a B350 motherboard right? My case has phenomenal cooling and airflow, so VRM temps shouldn't be an issue, but I'm worried about compatibility.
Ohh... it all sound interesting but the new motherboards now also not requiring active cooling? Would that even work for the CPU? Would be pretty awesome with a passively cooled desktop PC with something like 3Ghz. Or is it just referring to the cooling of the motherboard itself?

Well, got a FX6300 Bulldozer... 3 Cores With SMT, and i a have a Space heater for free

fx8350 here, using it for revit work from home on the bases that it has 8 cores and 32gb ram for it, its painful.
