Your feeling on gift knitting completely resonates with me! There's been many handmade gifts that I've never seen again, but as you say, we have to try and let go of the notion that people we want to wear/use their gifts all the time. I've found socks are the safest bet, but also getting much better at limiting how often I gift knit
Socks are a good idea, actually! Because I would love to continue to knit for people, but I do get sad not seeing the things I make being used and appreciated.
Such a cozy cuddly episode. Loving your selection of patterns, baby knits are always heart warming and cute 😍
In the beginning I used to knit baby sweaters or cardigans as gifts for new babies, but it soon became impractical (time consuming) and financially draining. Now, I only knit garments to family members and super close friends who appreciate the time and effort (not that I don't like giving... but just that if it's not "enjoyed" by the recipient, no one benefits from it). To my other friends and acquaintances I knit bonnets, little socks or booties, or (and those are always a huge success) little toys. I've knit TONS of animals from Little cotton rabbits and they are very much loved and for a long time (the other downside of garments is that babies grow out of them super fast).
Thank you for taking the time to record yet another video. You're one of my favorite podcasters. I love the warmth and sweetness you create in your videos. Have a great day!
This is my first time seeing any of your videos, & I subscribed so fast! You had me at the beautiful relaxing scenes in the intro.🧶🌲🍁
Awe, thank you for subscribing! 🤍
I feel the exact same way about gift knitting. I honestly don't want to do it anymore, unless I know that the recipient has an understanding of the love, time and energy that goes into knitting a garment or an accessory.
Yes, exactly!
I knit for my mum who lives in the Netherlands a bunch of stuff to make her a 12 days of christmas bag. Her birthday is the 13th of December. I miss her deeply so i want to make something special for her.
Fun video. It is so helpful to viewers if you would offer Ravelry links for the mentioned designs. That info is valued more than details about candles and tea cups used. 😊
I laughed out loud at the sound of your cat’s zoomies 😂 I really like your vibe! And my name is Michaela too (spelled different I think?) so of course I have subbed 😊
Oh amazing!! Yes, my name is spelled Mikeila, which is a weird one. Haha! I have just subscribed to your channel as well! I look forward to catching up!
You seem like a very thoughtful friend! Thanks for sharing your autumn knitting plans.
Skeindeer Knits Festive Cardigan is a beautiful pattern where you can choose the motifs to use in the pattern. Make it more winter or more Christmas looking. 😃
Thank you for the suggestion! I will look into that pattern!
Skeindeer Knits has her Festive Yoke Kids pattern that is winter themed but could also be Christmas!
Someone else suggested this also! It looks like a fantastic pattern!
What a lovely podcast, and that baby cardigan is so cute!😍
I think it's more fulfilling to knit gifts for those who you know love them. Otherwise I think it's perfectly OK to knit for yourself. I'm starting to embrace this concept more lately. If Ido make simple gifts I try and not expect that the recipient will love it and that's alright. As one person here said, let it go.
How about a lovely white and red color work sweater. Tin Can knits has great easy color work patterns that come in all sizes. Or have you seen the Doodle Cards? That would be fun to use to create a little sweater. Red with a white snow flake.
That's a good idea! I actually have the Rhinebeck doodle card deck, so maybe there's something in there I could use!
My daughter’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day. I used to just get her Christmas things in red so she could wear them again for her birthday.
That's such a lovely idea!
I hope you took the spider outside and did not end its life, spiders are a very important part of our ecosystem. Unless it was a poisonous spider, then just be careful returning it to the wild. I know insects can be annoying but they have a VERY important job in this world, they need to be respected.
Yes, I moved it safely outside, which likely saved its life because my daughter would have eaten it if she had been the one to notice it 😅
I look forward to seeing your daughter's hot chocolate dress.
