Yes, Sheikh said Prophet (peace be upon him) prohibited Salam just by indication. Furthermore sheikh said that scholars said, when someone is at some distance or mute/deaf then one can indicate the gesture, but 𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 (saying the Salam).
He didn't say "3jeeb" as in strange, rather he told them to "ajeeb" as in "reply (to my question)"
