@mastixencounter I agree. Some parts where she acts "surprised" seems to be intentionally fabricated to essentially give the "I better act surprised here and there to give the illusion that I've never seen the movie. But then sometimes sees certain things and doesn't react in awe and more so in a reminiscing way. Almost like the "I've always loved this scene" look. Her next reaction the HBP. She tries to say it's because it's her job as a reactor and that she has a keener sense to pick out plots and twists in movies because she is a small time amateur actor. But Harry Potter does have some twists that can be predicted if you pick up the hints. But there are some twists that aren't revealed until they are explained or shown. And somehow she knows them. As if being an actor/actress gives you some sort of Gift of Clarevoyance into how every movie goes down. My brother went to school for acting and has been in small movies and even started in a TV show and has done a few much bigger theater shows. He understands the purpose of a plots writing than some others. But weird enough. He doesn't just randomly pick out twists, with no lead up or hints, from movies he's claimed to have never seen

I wish the movies got more into why Neville was upset and shocked by “Mad-Eye Moody’s” class. They did briefly mention in the Pensieve flashback that his parents were tortured by means of the Cruciatus Curse, but they didn’t mention that they were tortured to the point of insanity and confined to a madhouse. I always found this detail important, because it shows just how similar Neville is to Harry, as he didn’t really have parents to raise him in that traditional way. Very much in theme. Anyways, excellent reaction as always 🎉

Neville was also born at the end of July like Harry was, meaning Neville could easily have been the Chosen One had Voldemort gone after his parents that night instead of the Potters.

In the movies it's only made as a throwaway comment in ootp. I always felt like the movies would have been better as a series, although something as CGI heavy in the early 2000s would probably have been impossible to implement on a TV series budget. But times have changed, but with how movies and series are today I'm not sure I'm very hyped for the new harry potter series at all anyway.

    • @bigbeng6041

@@bidishahhonestly, it's the most annoying part about the movies. Not only do they change the story in many ways, but they omit certain facts that are easily explained in a movie format even. It's like they expect the viewers to have read the books, which might have been true in 2001, but in 2024 plenty of young people have never opened a book outside school and will not have the context that the books provide. It's frustrating.

I don't care how many times I see this movie. The ritual to restore Voldemort, and seeing him rise out of the cauldron will always simultaneously send shivers racing up AND down my spine and make me nauseous.
    Trivia:
They got the movie appearance of Voldemort almost identical to the book. There is one missing detail: in the book, Voldemort is described as having blood-red eyes with a slit-like pupil. It is understandable why they didn't use creature contact lenses on Ralph Fiennes in the movie adaptations since it would eliminate the realness of Voldemort's threatening presence.
The arachnid the imposter Mad-Eye Moody was demonstrating The 3 Unforgivable Curses on was a tailless whip scorpion.
As someone who was sorted into Hufflepuff on The Wizarding World website, Cedric Diggory's death hit hard. Especially seeing Amos run onto the quidditch pitch and hearing him shout "That's my son!! That's my boy!!"
    Backstory:
Neville was traumatized by the Cruciatus Curse's usage because his parents were tortured into insanity with it.

Ofc, the issue was just that he didn’t know the other half of the problem that doing so would cause, and sealed his own fate
That’s also why you see in the beginning here Wormtail suggested using someone else for the restoration potion (which just requires blood of any enemy), but Voldemort quickly shoots the idea down, since in his mind he absolutely, positively, has to personally murk Harry himself

couple small things i noticed and loved about characters in this film...but one in particular is Cedric doesn't wear a "potter stinks" pin and has told his friends not to wear them as well. One could understand if Cedric did as he was the "rightful" champion selected (according to the rules) and Harry was obviously chosen out of tampering. But Cedric is confident enough and kind enough to not stoop to hazing/humiliation of Harry and even urges friends to not take part in it as well. That is a pretty stand up character (and the point). It would have been nice to see his character develop from earlier films into this one, but I understand that films have limits and it isn't key to the story until now.

    In the book
Bart crouch jr isn’t revealed till right at the end
He’s not in the dream, it’s just Voldemort and wormtail. At the quidditch World Cup, Harry hears someone but we don’t see who cast the mark
He doesn’t do the lick thing, and there’s absolutely zero hint that moody is crouch, and it’s a complete shock at the end
Also at the trial, he attempts to deny that he’s a death eater and the public believe him innocent. He’s said to have died in Azkaban but really his father (at the request of mrs crouch who’s dying) frees his son, but keeps him under the Imperious curse for years, then it’s at the World Cup when crouch jr breaks free and later on wormtail and Voldemort find crouch jr is alive, and break him out of his house while putting Sr under the imperious. Hence why sr insists Harry competes. But over time sr starts fighting the curse and after the first task he starts calling in sick, but when Harry is going back to his common room after the bath, he sees crouch on the map (actually he sees moody) and ‘moody’ takes the map, then not long before the final task, Sr arrives on hogwarts grounds out of his mind, Harry at that point is giving kind of a brother talk with Krum about Hermione and they showing mutual respect. Crouch talks about his son, and how the dark lord is gaining strength, so Harry runs to get dumbledore while krum stays with crouch sr. Snape holds Harry up and acts like he’s chatting nonsense, but when Harry gets Dumbledore he finds krum stunned and crouch has vanished. Fudge accuses Maxime and dumbledore and hagrid have a massive argument with Karkaroff who thinks it’s deliberate. Then when Harry goes to dumbledore’s office and ends up finding the pensive, he’s going to dumbledore because he’s had a dream (this time it’s Voldemort using the cruciatus on wormtail for allowing crouch to escape, but it’s not confirmed they’re talking about crouch and they get an owl to say ‘he is dead’)
Also crouch sr has a house elf, and the elf was responsible for making sure his son doesn’t escape, and the elf was accused of conjuring the dark mark so it’s given clothes

So Harry and Ron, among others, were told to grow their hair every year so that they could get the haircut they needed for the movies each year. The director of GoF liked the long hair and decided to keep their long hair without a cut. That's why they're so shaggy this movie.

25:02 An important thing to note that the movies don't tell you is Fleur Delacour isn't entirely human she's 1/4 Veela which are magical humanoid bird monsters(similar to harpies) considered near human intelligence that can take a human form being beautiful women with white-gold hair and they have a strong affect on anybody attracted to women. In the book it showcases many different guys including Harry being affected at differing points and to top it off Fleur can more or less turn the affect up and down.

Ron asks "come with one of us?" is such a nice line. i dont know if it refers to his inconfidence with Hermione like hes afraid to ask her out alone or to his friendship with Harry as hes pretty much giving him a chance here as well or it refers to that hes "learnt" from his twin brothers who always speak in plural. either way, its a very nice touch

They weren't exactly ghosts in the cemetery. Harry and Tom's wands have the same filling. The feather of the same phoenix. Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix. Wands-sisters can't fight each other. They can hurt, but they can't kill. When such a fight happens, there is a Priori Incantatem. Summoning the last spell performed by the wand. Therefore, all the victims appeared from Tom's wand in reverse order: Cedric, the gardener, Harry's parents. But they would not be able to stay and disappeared as soon as the connection of the sticks was broken.

The thing about Harry and Voldimort's wand connecting and bringing back Harry's parents, as well as Cedric and the muggle caretaker all as ghosts... They weren't really brought back, exactly. When two wands that share the same core duel each other, the wand that is losing the duel is forced to reveal the last 5 spells it performed. In this case, 4 of those last 5 spells were the curses that killed Cedric, the muggle caretaker, and Harry's parents. The form that those spells revealed themselves is to manifest the ghosts of those people.

51:00 Answering your question - it's not explained in the movies, but is explained in the books. Barty Crouch Jr used Polyjuice Potiom to swap bodies with his mother (who loved him, regadless of his crimes, and didn't want him to go to Azkaban). So his mother (who was mortally ill) used Polyjuice Potion to turn into him, then died (in his body) so everyone thought that Barty died in prison. And Barty used Polyjuice Potion to turn into his mother and leave prison.

I like how you put 2+2 together so quickly and figured it out one of the major plot twists of this movie. Now, I don't quite remember how's in the book, but it was surely less obvious.

They do intend for the first 5 movies to mostly be for children so I get why they make it super obvious, but as as a kid I bet it was very confusing haha. But if you really analytically ask “why is he chugging a drink out of a little bottle that looks weird” then you hear snape complain about Polly juice potion going missing, it’s like Oh! Moody is always drinking something- bam
