  • This month I photographed more horses than I had photo halters for, so I had to improvise and found that it's super easy to DIY so I thought I'd share how to make your own equine photo halter for horse photography and also cover how to put a photo halter on and take one off safely when you're out on location on an equine photoshoot.
    Also, how amazing is Tuna (Fortuna) looking at the moment?!
    Important equine photography videos:

    Disclaimer & Rope chat:
    ⚠️ Working with horses is dangerous, there are many risks.
    ⚠️ If you are DIYing your equine photography halter then you need to be aware of the payload of your rope and make sure that it will not break under non-emergency level tension, and also that friction will not cause it to fray.
    ⚠️ Using a ring instead of just the rope is a step in the right direction, but really climbing, yachting, sailing rope etc will be the starting point for you.
    ⚠️ I will not be responsible if you make a weak halter after watching this video and cause an accident/wreck, ok!

    I already bought 3 (white, black and beige) but this model seems easier to put on, so I will make one as well🙈 Also I want to note that it is important that your rope is at least 6mm wide. To avoid really nasty wounds when your horse spooks, would you please put that somewhere in a little disclaimer? And also that it is risky to use on horses that tend to run. Thanks!🥰

      Thank you for the feedback Chantal 🥰 there's a disclaimer underneath the video covering the use of the rope 👍 wellbeing and safety is always a top priority for us, thank you again for your support 😊

    Awesome video, thank you so much! 🙂
    In case your horse runs away frightened or sth so you really need to hold it... doesn't the halter contract/tighten and hurt the horses head? Is there any variation in knotting to prevent this? 😬

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries 😊 It should be safe providing you use a high strength material and your knot is a good strong knot 🤓

    What payload do you recommend as a minimum?

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This would totally depend on the horse(s) that it is being used on, just remember you can’t go to high with the payload but going too low will likely lead to issue 😊

    • @kirstybevan5870
      @kirstybevan5870 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatPhotographySpot thank you. I bought one from a UK equine photographer last year and it broke (luckily only on a black background shoot) so don’t want to end up going too low. I don’t know what a normal payload is though 🥺
