- A full shoot walkthrough and final image sharing session of a horse photography session with Twiggy the Connemara and her human, Emily. This video wasn't planned out to be recorded but I felt the content might be useful to some people so it was best to share with a voiceover pointing out what I was doing at the creation point of every shot.
I hope this video is helpful!
** DISCLAIMER: If you are photographing horses (and their humans) ensure safety is your TOP priority and never ever put anyone in harms way. You must be fully insured to shoot horses in any capacity because things can go wrong in a split second. Twiggy is a very calm, bombproof mare who was perfect for this type of session. Had she been spooky or scatty, Emily would NOT have been on board. Safety first - no exceptions! **
Thank you to Emily for allowing us to share the content of this video ❤️

Oh gosh, yes, these walk throughs in which you are giving us some sense of your decision making in the scene are just beyond helpful. I would love to watch anything you put together in this general vein.
Gosh, what glorious images. She's such a beautiful girl and you captured her so well. What a treasure for her person. Well done.
Thank you so much! I am glad they helped :)
I love these behind the scenes videos. I thank you for talking us through your shots. I don't know if I'll ever get to do a photo shoot of a horse but at least I know what to look for from this video. Thank you!!!

Super useful!!! Id love to see more like that!!! I am just starting to get more serious about this with both horses and dogs. I have learned so much by watching your videos!! I love your style and as an equestrian genuinely loved seeing the "big dogs " work you do too.
Glad it was helpful!
I’m an equine photographer and I’m legit so excited to watch this! Been eagerly waiting since your Instagram post!!
Also a tip that always helps me it using a horse sounds app on my phone. Always grabs the horses attention and creates a lovely expression 😊
She had zero interest in the horse noises app which left me in a jam at this shoot! The fern came to the rescue 🤣
@@ThatPhotographySpot would LOVE to see how you edited these! Absolutely gorgeous!
@@ThatPhotographySpot haha oh no! That always makes it heaps harder! The photos you got are amazing 😍 I’d love to see more sessions like this!

Glad it was helpful!

Thank you too!
So helpful! Seeing the pointers on how to position the horses body and get lovely lines was great. Would love to see a video on positioning tips for dogs too.

Your channel and videos helped me a A LOT at my beginnings and so do now.
What an amazing comment - thank you so much. Reading comments like these are the reason I do my job 💕
@@ThatPhotographySpot We all can see how passionate are you about it and i feel like that's the reason i love your videos!🙏🏼😊
Oh yes please! More vids like this, as well as your dogs!
BTW. Earlier this year I searched the tube for dog photographers, but your channel didn't show up. I'm glad I've found it now tho!
I really like your style, and ur vids is inspiring!
Thank you so much - I am glad you've found the channel - welcome!
This was brilliant video! And thank you so much for texting the videos, for us who are not English speaking. I also see that your have f1.6 that is very great.
Thank you! 😃
Hands and hooves down the best behind the scenes ever for equine/person photography. I will now deliberately create that curve and not just hope it happens because it looks nice. I also appreciated viewing the different crops. That is something I struggle with when composing. Thank you and a big “yes” if you are able to show more material like this.
Lovely comments - thank you so so much ❤
This is beyond helpful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts as you move through the shoot. This is the sort of video I've been searching for! THANK YOU! * subbed *
Thank you so much for the kind words and I am pleased that you found it "beyond helpful" 🤓🙂
This was fascinating. I have been photographing mostly dogs and cats for years, almost all for animal rescues, but I love all animals and would love to photograph horses. I had a friend contact me to do that, but knew that I know nothing about horses (and am slightly afraid of them) so was extremely happy to see you had some videos. People think that since you can photograph a dog, you can do any animal! Now I know what my goals are, to capture the horse looking her best!
Great news! Glad the video was helpful ❤️
Would love ot see more of this type of video (BTS). I am a canine and equine photographer and always love new ideas!! Thank you once again Jess for all your time and talent being shared with us!
Thank you so much :)
Thank you for a really useful video! I'm doing my first equine session tomorrow so this was very helpful! 😊

Starting following you since few days, I'm not a pet photographer but never say never, and your videos are always such interesting..
Horses are fantastic animals to shot, and your explanations about composition is really fantastic. Agree with the request to see the editing part of that fantastic shots with a very romantic mood!!!!

Glad you found this resource useful 😊
Beautiful shots.

So glad I managed to find this video you've really helped provide some valuable information that will help me with my upcoming session. It's going to be my first ever session with a horse but also as well as this the client wants to involve their dog so I am both excited and nervous at the same time.
Go for it - be confident in yourself and you'll be amazing!
Loved this so much. So helpful thankyou!

@@ThatPhotographySpot They really are! I'm shooting with a Sony A6400 at the moment (so crop sensor) and a 50mm prime. Would this work for equine photography or would I be better to wait until I have a longer lens?
Extremely useful video. Thank you!! Going to schedule my first portrait shoot of a couple aging horses for the owner. I typically shoot rodeo events (action).
