its really personal preference.. but maybe ride around 70ft. and 70ft on this boat, I would probably run the boat at about 21.7mph sort of. the setup I run for myself in this boat is full ballast (a little over 5k lbs) with a 75ft rope at 22.8mph
It really depends tbh, an Xstar with the biggest engine possible was kind of the leader for that whole era, the only con is that it doesn’t surf very well 21 Vlx and 23 lsv from Malibu were good for both but not the very best for either The Enzo’s from centurion was decent for wakeboarding but by far the best for surfing Nautique 230 was good for both, but if it’s windy the wakeboard wake curls Supra and Tige are kind of the options I would never choose tbh Also all manufacturers of this era will likely need an aftermarket propeller for more torque, extra ballast to make the wake bigger, if possible the biggest engine available (base model engines were only 350hp) also a suction gate is nice to have for surfing
I’d look at a 2006 Supra 24ssv. Had one for 2 season and the surf wave and wakeboard wake was killer with upgraded ballast bags (1000lbs) in each rear locker. Plenty of engine power to get it and go. Should get one for 30-40k depending on hours and condition
