THE STORY:
Nick Akin is an independent Christian music artist / worship leader from Atlanta, Georgia. He, his wife, Julie, and their four beautiful children travel to churches and events of all sizes to share music and testimony of what God has done in their lives.
In 2017, Nick and Julie felt a stirring in their hearts towards adoption. After much prayer, research, and speaking with adoption agencies, this journey eventually led them to India. In 2019 they adopted Tanvi.
Tanvi was born with Caudal Regression Syndrome, a rare and complex birth defect that causes the lower half of the body not to form correctly in the womb. She is missing her sacrum, bottom three vertebrae, and has faced other severe complications that required major surgeries. The doctors were not sure if she would ever be able to walk.
Tanvi was found at a hospital entrance in Delhi, India. Based on what little information Nick and Julie have, they believe Tanvi's birth mom loved her, but was in a desperate situation, not having the means to care for Tanvi's rare and complicated needs that would have eventually taken her life. Nick wrote this song for Tanvi's birth mom, thinking back to that day. This music video, filmed and directed by Nick and Julie, is their own artistic interpretation of how God brought beauty from ashes.

My mom was in this situation where she made the difficult choice to put my older sister up for adoption. Like this song and video portrays, I know my mom must have gone through all of these same emotions all those years ago. Luckily, after 50 years apart, they were able to reunite, and my mom was able to spend the last 4 years getting to know her before she passed away. Nick, thank you for putting all of these feelings into this song and video. It is absolutely beautiful.
