Root beer is one of those things people either love it or they hate it. There is no in between. Personally, I love it.
Yeah root beer is great.
I hate it lol
@@KittenUndercover what about a root beer float though? Nobody hates those
@@MrTommygunz420 Nah people will substitute the root beer with coke or dr pepper. I used to despise the flavor of root beer but not coke or dr. Pepper and I'd use those instead.
Many Europeans also associate the taste with medicines they had to take as children.
people in the US arent eating rap chips. They are a gimmick snack food you find at gas stations.
Wtf are you talking about? Rap Snack are pretty big on the East Coast. Stop spreading misinformation.
It's like they went straight to the American snacks clearance aisle and got all the stuff nobody eats
It's like a Canadian picked out these American snacks
I was thinking the same thing
We don’t eat 90% of these items
the only ones i know of in canada are cheez it gold fish and pizza pringles some of these i've never had but also yeah cananda has some snacks the us has :P
Thurston, when you try the root beer make sure it's super cold and pour it over vanilla ice cream in a frosted mug
Yes. Most definitely. I grew up with a&w root beer floats. We had a&w drive ins. Super cold over vanilla ice cream....banger
If British mouthwash tastes anything like root beer, I don’t think you have proper mouthwash in the UK. Minus another point for British dental hygiene.
Yeah saying it taste like mouthwash was so perplexing to me… like idk what sort of mouthwash they must be using but it doesn’t sound right.
Insecure teenage boys. The alpha says "mouthwash" and the others go "YEAH!! 🤪"
I am not British but for me it taste like mouthwash is the best description really before I would say it taste like toothpaste
Root Beer is made from the North American sassafras tree (now mostly artificial sassafras flavored) so not sure how they could match a flavor only found in North America. Sounds weird to add sassafras flavor to mouthwash. Not a good business model 😂
In place of sassafras root, root beer manufacturers use wintergreen mint, as it tastes fairly similar.
In Europe, they use wintergreen in mouthwash, toothpaste, medicines... So anytime a European tries root beer, it reminds them of the last medicinal product they used.
I'll leave my thoughts on each because why not:
1. Goldfish are honestly overrated in my opinion, I've never been a big fan (but I can't deny they're a staple in nostalgia and food culture)
2. Cheez-Its are incredible if they're flavored (the Tabasco/hot sauce ones are soooooo good!)
3. Combos are also incredible, they're so good, but they are unusual.
4. Pringles are great, but haven't had the pizza variety to my knowledge.
5. Rap Snacks are all over the shelves but I've never had them.
6. Takis are overrated as well in my opinion, but they're not terrible.
7. Never had Herr's chips, or Carolina Reaper flavored things, but I would be down to try it.
8. I don't think I've had A&W root beer, but I've tried root beer and I don't really like it much.
9. Twinkies are a classic, I do enjoy them but don't have them much at all.
10. Warheads are nice, sour stuff is good and Warheads don't disappoint.
11. Hershey's is a classic, they're great.
No one in America eat rap chips
I think they are popular in some states... They should of tried Hershey
I know a lot of people who do. I like the Migos dab of ranch.
Never heard of rap chips in my region
I’ve never heard of them
Yes they do you just live in a all white area 🤣🤣
As a sour connoisseur, I can say that yes, people enjoy the taste of sour things. I like warhead’s, but they’re not my favorite since they kind of burn my tongue. But those sprays are nice and like Lemonheads are like the best. Sour candy in general is just good.
Have you ever tried super lemons from Japan? They’re the best for sour lovers! Highly recommend! There are also super cola and super apples as well.
I sound like an oldie for sure lo but I buy the "old fashioned" lemon drops. I can't even eat Brachs anymore & I used to like them.
I love lemon & the drops are the most natural tasting (to me).
-- Goldfish: I feel these are more for little kids
-- Cheez-It: Had some recently and they taste different (worse) than I remembered
-- Combos: love the cheddar and pretzel ones since I was a kid, don't care for pizza flavored things
-- Pringles: meh, so many other better options, and again I don't care for pizza flavored
-- Rap Snacks: never heard of or seen them in my life
-- Takis: Love them. Also Turbos Flamas
-- Herr's Carolina Reaper: never had but would try
-- A&W Root Beer: Not bad but it is an acquired taste
-- Twinkies: Loved as a kid, can't stand them now. Never had any flavored ones though.
-- Warheads: Loved them as a kid, love sour things
-- Hersheys: Never liked it, can't stand milk chocolate anything. Dark chocolate all the way.
Need to get these kids some Flamin' Hot Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles or some Zapp's Voodoo chips or something 😁
Oh the Zapps crawtators with an ice cold coke is killer.
Cheez it’s used to have more of a cheesy salty flavor. Last time I ate them the taste was much weaker than they used to be
I think you’re right. The tobasco ones are good though.
Lol! These guys are pretty fun, but they definitely didn't pick the right snacks. Some of those I do buy, but only because my 7-year-old likes them. Also, I had never heard of rap chips until this video.
Combos are like hard cylinder pretzels stuffed with cheese. They have different cheese flavors like American cheese and pizza as seen on here. I have never had the Rap endorsed chips/crisps.
Not all Combos are pretzel; some are cracker. Plus I think I have seen sweet versions as well.
I live in the north east and have never seen them... Are they like Hot Pockets?
@@angusstuff no lmao, they’re tiny and crunchy. More comparable to the size of a goldfish. I guess the components they’re made of are kinda like a hot pocket, but you can’t taste the cheese much because there is so much pretzel compared to cheese. They taste alright, but they’re very dry. I personally eat them by biting the cracker/pretzel off if half of it, scooping the cheese out with my teeth to taste it, and then eating the other half of it. Kinda like how people eat oreos.
@@angusstuff Not like Hot Pockets. Combos are hard sized crunchy pretzels stuffed with processed cheese. Hot Pockets are like a small hand held pie that is stuffed with pizza filling or pepperoni or ham and cheese that you heat up in the microwave. Combos are not hot or microwaved. Just eat them out of the bag.
@@dr_waffle_house Right that is right.
I'm not sure if this is the case with Warheads, but the sour/sweet jawbreakers I've had in the past have a sweet outer layer that almost immediately turns sour. But if you get through it, it turns sweet again. The joy is in the sudden contrast. I associate sourness with lemonade, which I enjoy.
I hear ya. In my time we had "tear jerkers" and when those were taken off shelves, sour jawbreakers were the one sour candy that had that level of face pucker and physical reaction.
Now I want sour candy. Lol
I love this full circle moment happening right now. I started watching this channel a few years ago which led me to Jolly, and now you are watching their videos 🤣 You're an official "Jollybean"
The thing I’ve found about root beer is that it really depends upon the brand you try. A&W is about the least interesting root beer I can think of. Barque’s is good, but has caffeine where most root beers don’t. I think Mug is my favorite. Each kind has its own distinctive flavor.
I love Jolly and Korean Englishman as well. They have so many foreign snack reviews.
Cheez-Its used to be so good. They were originally made by Sunshine Biscuits. Sunshine was purchased by Keebler back in 1996. Some said they noticed a big taste change at that point, but I don’t recall them tasting much different during those years. Perhaps a slight bit, but not much. That is until 2001, when Kellogg purchased Keebler. Many changes were made to the newly inherited brands, and Cheez-Its were hit hard by these changes. Since then they’ve never tasted anywhere near as good as pre-2001 Cheez-Its. I feel like the “taste like nothing” remarks are spot on, here. There are a few that aren’t bad; the Tabasco-flavored ones are surprisingly good. The White Cheddar, while not tasting much like White Cheddar, are decent. But I think that’s got everything to do with the flavorings used, not the cracker itself. Because the original flavor and most other versions where the flavor isn’t that strong are pretty bland.
[For the record, Cheez-Its and several other crackers are still sold with the Sunshine branding, but the line itself is 100% made by Kellogg. The company opted to keep the Sunshine name for those products for popularity purposes. Unfortunately, they did change the ingredients.]
Not related to this video, but back in the early 90’s Keebler made something called Pizzarias, which was a chip made from pizza dough and heavily flavored with pizza flavorings. They were really good and in my opinion much better than Doritos (which have also changed in flavor a bit). Sadly, and despite being extremely successful for a handful of years, they were ultimately discontinued in the middle-late 90’s after the company was sold and broken up. I don’t know who owns the rights to them now, but whoever does should bring them back.
I love root bear tbh… but it’s best for a root bear float. (Root bear and vanilla ice cream)
Edit: Taste like mouthwash??? Tf? What kinda of mouthwash do you guys use over there?
I know right that sounds like the best damn mouthwash ever
its probably wintergreen which is apparently a common ingredient in many root beer brands
If/when you get around to trying root beer one important piece of advice: make sure to also get vanilla ice cream (and if possible a frosted glass from the deep freezer.) It's absolutely an "acquired taste" that many people can't stand at first (very possible you'll be included;) but a scoop of ice cream in that frosted glass and pour it slowly over for a root beer float and it's essentially impossible to hate by the third sip. NOBODY hates root beer floats; but please at least try it pure first (it's very "medicinal" tasting.)
I always hear the medicine comparison and I've never understood. Like what medicine are we talking about? The only liquid medicines ive had are cough syrups and it tastes nothing like that
@@xRakanishu
Root beer manufacturers now use wintergreen instead the poisonous (and banned) sassafras root.
Europeans use wintergreen in medicines in place of grape flavor, and in place of other kinds of mint used in toothpastes and mouthwash.
@@xRakanishu its probably from the licorice and wintergreen type flavors
Cheezits are addictive but..eat just one at a time and make sure they're entirely mush before you swallow them and you'll really taste the cheese
I think the zed kid ought to stick to beans on toast.
Foreal he was annoying as hell
Rap Snack are great, unfortunately the price shot up over the last year. MIGOS's are pretty good and Lil Baby "All In" are excellent.
Compared to our American kids these kids were rude and kind of nasty. When our kids tried Brit food they were much more polite about what they didn’t like and didn’t go on a rude rant about Brits and their preferred snacks. And some of you think that they are more manner able than we are?! Lol
Yea they gave off that stereotypical European snob vibes
Some of them were rude (the one snobby boy, I think his name is Ralph?, with the Italian grandmother), but I think most were pretty cool about it, especially the boy who used to live in America
America is such a big country that a lot of places have regional favorites. I live in eastern Idaho and there's this candy company called Farr's that has the best flavored nougat I've ever tasted, but then you drive like an hour or two away and their products are impossible to find.
My daughter LOVES Taki's and any other flaming hot chips. She's been eating them since she was a very little kid. When I was a kid, if it set my mouth on fire, I avoided it like the plague. Who am I kidding...I still do. If you can't taste anything after eating something, you're just wasting good food. I told her that if she didn't let up on the hot stuff, then she was going to be in a world of trouble when she gets older because they'll fry her entire GI tract.
They go to the same school every time. Fulham Boys School. They are friends with the headmaster. That’s covered on their other channel when Josh and Ollie took a bunch of the lads to Korea and Mr Smith came with.
And no one I know has heard of or eaten rap snacks. This was a dumb choice by them lol
Americans do like their sour sweets lol. You should react to some of the war head challenges that are on TH-cam! Funny stuff man
Root beer floats are a good way to enjoy root beer.
So I'm a subscriber from Tennessee, US and bro I have to say all of the things that were shown, besides the raps snacks and Hersheys, I absolutely love and warheads are among one of my all time favorite candies idk what it is about sour and hot stuff but I just absolutely love it it definitely is an acquired taste for sure I havent tried the carolina reaper puffs but I'd try them in a heart beat though lol and yeah as you said towards the end there are absolutely way better candies and snacks than that but bro I absolutely love the videos keep it up bro
I have always preferred cheez-its to goldfish, but grew up on whole grain rainbow goldfish.
Yeah, I always think of goldfish as a kids snack.
I'm binge watching all your reactions to US foods right now, my 10yr old is a big fan of sour sweets especially Warheads.
Rap snacks are everywhere where I live and some are intense but others are quite nice
I craze Cheez-its on a daily. It is so good!
I still miss a good root beer float. I always think that whenever I see that root beer can.
Three things that I'll never do.
1. Trust a child's judgment on food.
2. Trust the pallete of someone that eats chicken nuggets.
3. Trust the palette of someone that eats yeast on toast.
now celebrities' are having their own menu items on McDonalds and Burger King too
The young with the blonde Bob hated everything.
And a real smart ass.
Real root beer made with sassafras root bark is great. Unfortunately, it's also very hard to find and expensive when you do find it, even here in the US. All the name brand Root Beer is just artificially flavored garbage. As for the "Rapper" potato Chips (or crisps), I was born in the US and lived here my entire life and I never heard of them or saw them on store shelves. I'm guessing they didn't last long and were only released in some of the bigger cities.
Root beer is more specifically some combination of sassafras or sarsaparilla as a base with other flavors mixed in
I love combos!!!!
My new favorite snack is the Cheez-it Snapped Cheddar crackers. They're super crisp, and baked, not fried.
I teach kindergarten, so I see goldfish and cheese-its daily. I don’t usually eat them.
Never heard of rap snacks.
7 minutes in I have not seen a snack my family eats. 😂
This is the first time I've ever heard someone compare Root Beer to mouthwash
Yes, I LOVE sour candy so much I will eat Warheads until my tongue bleeds. I love all things sour, it's one of the best flavors a candy can have. Americans are big on sour, which is also why Mexican candies are so popular in some parts of the US. Mexican candies combine sour and spicy, which is the BEST combo.
Sour sweets are my favorite. I used eat them until tongue bled. 😂
A&W Root Beer has chocolate type taste and Barqs Root Beer is more black licorice tasting but Mug Root Beer tastes more like molasses
Maybe I'm just getting old but I've never heard of or seen Rap Snacks.... 😶, also my soul ascended at "this smells like danger" 🤣🤣🤣
Hershey had to change the recipe for the bars they sell in Canada to make the chocolate more like Dairy Milk. American chocolate is not good, it's why I prefer Smarties to M&Ms and nobody really likes Hershey Kisses. I also agree that Cheez-its (which only came to Canada in the past few years) are pretty flavourless, their is "crispy" style that is better.
What is with you British drinking Root Beer at room temp?! POP IT IN THE FRIDGE OR FREEZER TO COOL IT OR THROW IN SOME ICE TO CHILL IT FIRST THEN DRINK IT!!!
Just FYI, Barqs root beer is the superior brand so if you don’t aren’t giving them that, don’t bother :)
I don’t know why Jolly had them try Hershey’s. Believe it or not the US has many, many much better chocolate options.
It's hard to take their opinions seriously when they're coming from the same culture of people who still eat foods designed for times of war and famine...
Lol they eat the most bland foods of course they're going to hate anything that has flavor
Takis is an Mexican snack
Um,I’m not Mexican and we eat them where I live in PA.
@@Kim-427 You must be so unique! I’m wearing clothes that were made in China!
@@Kim-427 the Spanish writing on the Takis bag says made in Mexico
@@SubiwuExactly,So why aren’t you responding to the commenter that made that comment? Rather it’s Mexican or not was irrelevant it’s a snack that’s eaten in America by Americans.
But,They’re eaten in America by Americans.
Lav please have a look at this video. Car goes airborne after hitting tow truck ramp.
The problem is is that alour most popular snack are probably the UKs popular snacks as well. The American brands are so dominant that yall have em as well.
15:51 Little kids love it lol
What in the world kind of mouthwash do they have in the UK? Most of our mouthwash in the US is minty flavor except for original Listerine, which tastes like Pinesol.
I like sour/tart candy, because without sour/tart they’d just taste like Swedish fish or something like that. I want fruity candy to taste fruity. To be fair warheads are overwhelming at first.
Don't knock Twinkies! Those things will survive a nuclear holocaust!!!
Cheez-Its are great. Most of these things are artificially flavored trash aimed at kids, not really traditional by any means. I don't know that I've ever seen a banana flavored Twinkie.
Bruh most of these I’ve never even heard of 😂
They should have served the root beer ice cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream , nothing better then a root beer float, except a Coke float.
I'm highly suspicious that no American was involved in choosing snacks. Combos? Who the hell eats those anymore. Also that kid Ralph has an attitude thats gonna get his A kicked someday haha
Thurston......when are you going to have your brother back on your channel???? He was awesome ad funny and cute.
The hot and spicy cheez its are the best
Root Beer is made from the North American sassafras tree (now mostly artificial sassafras flavored) so not sure how they could match a flavor only found in North America. Sounds weird to add sassafras flavor to mouthwash.
We apologize for our overuse of the letter 'z'; Noah Webster and the huge wave of German immigration are to blame! :)
What the heck are Rap Chips? I've never even heard of them.
Best way to drink A&W rootbeer is either ice cold in a frosty mug or over vanilla ice cream as a rootbeer float. I'm particular though because I grew up getting it at the A&W Drive Ins.
Combos are nasty and somewhat like eating a flavored rock.
I prefer plain Pringles or the Sour Cream and Onion Pringles.
Twinkies are ok but I prefer Little Debbies Swiss Rolls.
Like your videos, Thurston - but even maxing out my volume, it's still difficult to hear. Forget it, if there's any background noise!
I’ve never even heard of these snakes and I live USA. Well of course I do know root beer.
How tf have u not heard of twinkies? Or Hersheys, or even Cheez-its
I live in California and I’ve never seen combos in my life
Goldfish tasted better when we were kids. I mostly see them as a snack for kids now. Cheez-Its are good when the batch is made right. Root beer is foul.
You seriously need to turn up the volume on your videos, man. I wouldn't be surprised if it has cost you subscribers by now.
Combos are one of those things I ate a lot as a kid, so sometimes I'll still buy a bag just for the memories. But they really aren't that great, basically just flavored cheese spread inside a crunchy pretzel shell. As for Hershey's chocolate, it's another thing I grew up with, but now days I prefer European chocolate over Hershey's, it just much smoother and without the sour aftertaste.
Do American High School react to British Tea and Biscuits
So, I really don't care for the Goldfish. They leave a horrible after taste in my opinio. Love Cheezits. They come in all sorts of flavors. My favorites are the original, the white cheddar, and duo with sharp cheddar and bacon. Never had the rap chips, love Combos, love Pringles, like the Herr's but I like version of the puffed Cheetoes. Their jalepeno flavor is nice. Takis are okay. I love root beer period. The best way to have it is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Twinkies are ok but Little Debbie's snacks are so much better. If you ever try Little Debbie's try the swiss cake roll, the fudge round, and the nutty buddy. All to die for. Hershey's chocolate is a must. Warheads are okay but I'd rather have sweet and sour gummy worms.
I feel like Americans should be the ones to recommend the snacks for these kind of things. I never cared that much for Combos, and I don't see anyone eating them or buying them since the 90's. Instead of Takis I would have recommend something like Flaming Hot Cheetos. Root Beer should have been offered with Vanilla Ice Cream. Also Hershey's I don't know anyone that just buys it to eat by itself. I think most of us just eat it when used in S'mores.
I don't like the ones in the first half, I love the ones in the second half. Growing up all of my classmates loved the hot and spicy stuff like Takis or Flamin Hot Cheetos, while I was going on with the Warheads, including the spray.
The Ralph guy is very smug & quite rude!
If u try a root beer float (root beer +ice cream) you nred to use "vanilla" ice cream. Don't believe anyone mentioned that. Personally I dont care for root beer but if its a float, well I'll prob have that then. A&W is my fave brand tho. I usually use Dr. Pepper for my ice cream floats.
love root beer
Rap chips? Not popular in the states, but I'd try it if I see it
I hate root beer but my family loves it.
These snacks are well known but not popular if that makes since.
Americans don't put a "zed" in anything. We do use too many Z's though.
Most people love sour stuff.
I didn’t know they still made Combos, and what are Rap Chips?? Who picked these snacks lol
Not sure what you're talking about with banana flavored twinkies. Maybe they were a "limited edition" thing
why does your new video have comments off??
Ever had sweet and sour pork and/or shrimp??
You can't go from flavor blasted goldfish to plain cheez-itz.. also, who is the little girl
Hah - seriously.
I’ve never even seen rap chips
Raspberry Zingers are way better than Twinkies
Yeeeeeeeeees! 😊
hey lav...your newest vid about the 80's has comments turned off...
Lav! Why is the volume on your programs always too soft?
Where’s the Reese’s butter cup, or the nestles butterfinger. In the US the snacks you served are not common snacks. Never heard of most of them the USA
Saying root beer taste like mouthwash is the best description for that thing, they would bring to my school parties coke Pepsi and root beer i would evade root beer with passion people can say "how tf you don't like root beer" well i ask you why in hell you like drinking soda that taste like toothpaste!?
Are you American? Jw
@@Austin.Kilgore nope but here were i live older people like root beer a lot
@@thelion2751 Seems like mouthwash outside of America taste completely different than it does here. Lol Because I’ve never had nor heard of a flavor of mouthwash that could be even remotely comparable to Root Beer… so hearing them compared super bizarre to me.
@@Austin.Kilgore well mouthwash is like the most ehh closer thing, how about i say this it taste minty like the minty flavor you feel after brushing your teeth not super strong but you can still feel it
@@thelion2751 Oh okay, well yeah our mouth wash is minty as well… So I guess it’s that I just don’t get (or notice) even the slightest taste of mint from root beer, like not at all. So that’s probably where the confusion is coming from.
Gas station snacks
Your videos are always so low volume, is there a way you can fix this for future videos?
The mic volume is perfect, just the video you're reacting to is too low
Cheez-Its and Goldfish don't have much taste and I'm not the biggest fan. Haven't ever heard of Combos and I'd wager 99% of Americans haven't either, same with the Rap snacks. Haven't had Takis but I know they're popular here. Americans live our spicy snack food. Root beer is either a love-it-or-hate-it kind of drink. I love it, especially as a float.
I've watched Jolly do these videos and Ralph fits the snobby and condescending stereotype of Brits a lot of Americans have been shown through media.
Combos are still a thing???
Hey I know it’s been a while but would you be interested in reacting to “World Baseball Classic” highlights?
Where did they get these snacks? The American isle of a Russian grocery store???
The original cheez-its are bland, but the other flavors are pretty good
