    Yamaha are absolutely amazing. Have always loved their pianos since the first time I played a Clavinova. Currently have the Yamaha CP1 Stage Piano and absolutely adore it. Great video Jacob.

    This is a fantastic instrument! Quite exciting. I appreciate you reviewing it. The sound board transducer (along with Yamaha's sound sample engine) is a perfect innovation! (Cousin Davy here).
    In the Pro-Sound industry, we used a system like that 15 years ago with a speaker transducer (4 inches round by about 3 inches tall) that would fasten to the bottom of a table or, etc. (most surfaces). The transducer would use the whole table (wood, especially) as its speaker "cone" & give great omni-directional sound without the bulk of a speaker, its cone and its box, etc.
    We try to use Yamaha for all of our home theater applications, too. I run Yamaha in my own home theater. They are the best, IMO.
    I hope you and your family are all doing well. Blessings

    This is the one I want but don't see it available -- the TransAcoustic is only available in a upright model unless I missed something

    Can you connect your other instruments like a synthesizer into the piano and play it from the piano's keyboard? I mean MIDI out from the piano to the synth and then audio out from the synth to audio in on the piano. So the synths sound plays through the transacoustic "soundboard-speaker". That would be great especially if there is no noticeable latency/delay which I suspect bluetooth audio can suffer from.

    That’s really Awesome!! I played a Yamaha U1 TA2 few days ago at a piano centre in Hong Kong and it’s great as well, which is suitable for buying one and playing at home which is not spacious enough to accommodate a grand piano =) Definitely appreciate Yamaha this new modern technology 😆

    Am I compromising on sound quality by getting the C1X TA3, which is a 5'3" baby grand over the 6'3" C3X TA2 and TA3?

  • @B-S-K

    I got my C3X-TA2 9 months ago .... and I can really recommend it (tough the Transacoutic Feature doesn't sound as good as expected - in comparison to the real acoustic sound!)

    Can the TransAcoustic technology be applied to Yamaha's larger grands such as their CF series, if so ordered?

    So you can adjust the volume of the digital sounds, but can you adjust the volume of the acoustic sound as well or is that merely on/off? How does switching the acoustic sound off work? Even in this video I still see the hammers hammering the strings.

      May I know how much you paid for yours and where you are based? It is a little out of my budget but I preferred it so much more than the N1X which is around more of my budget but I may just have to get it instead of the U1TA2 :/

    • @Jurgh909
      @Jurgh909 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LionStreetTM I'm in Oslo, Norway. I've been playing close to 35 years. Paid just over an equivalent of 13.000 us dollars for it. It's the best instrument I've ever owned. I've taken up extra morgage and saved up every penny I could selling other stuff around the house. It's easily worth it, no doubt. Usually play along with Chordify. It's so easy, my 15 year old daughter has really Advanced in her playing as well, and we can practice without disturbing either neighbors or smaller siblings sleeping.

    • @LionStreetTM
      @LionStreetTM 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jurgh909 Wow, I am so jealous, seriously. I am in NYC and I auditioned it and I was in love and no other piano matched to my enjoyment of the U1TA2; not even any of the Avantgrands. You convinced me to save and wait some more time so I can actually get something I am completely happy with. The N1X was decent and the N2 as well but it was just missing something. I am an intermediate/advanced player also, and I just wasn't happy with any digital/hybrid piano. If I can find the U1TA2 for $11,000 or lower, I would buy it in a heartbeat. BTW it is amazing that you took out a mortgage for it; only a pianist would understand why someone would do that. Good luck with your daughter!

  • @drewedwards1748
    @drewedwards1748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man, thanks for sharing. Quick follow up: how does the silent mode "feel" compared to when you play it in "raw acoustic" mode? I suppose there is a mechanism to prevent the hammer from striking the strings -- does this noticeably impact your perception of the action? I have a Kawai CA-78 (similar to Yamaha Clavinova) and am planning on buying an acoustic, but this seems like it might be the best of both worlds.

    Transducer technology is nothing new here, Roland, Kawai and even Yamaha have successfully been using it in their digital grands, even in some of their upright models (i.e. Kawai CA97), however it's cool to see that Yamaha finally dared to combine this technology with actual acoustic piano, taking advantage of the true key action which is the main issue at most of the prior experiments, price?

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't think of a single instrument where Roland has used transducers. Kawai and Yamaha have used them, but not in this full scale. The CA97 (and now the CA99) has a relatively small wooden resonator on the back that produces mainly low frequencies (which Kawai likes to call "soundboard"), and they have to add four 3" full range drivers on top plus 2 tweeters to get a full sound. However, this piano gets a full range sound using a real soundboard without extra speakers.

    The expressive and creative possibilities it presents is mind boggling. Glad to see Y exploring and taking risks and developing technology . The silent mode is dope and so useful i thnk kawai has a similar deal w that silent practice mode on some of their models
    Slightly OT but when you're in Japan if you are ever able to connect w Hayato Sumino aka yt Cateen piano, I think theres tremendous collaborative opportunity here for you two, hes classically trained but w formidae jazz and virtuosic arranging performance chops to boot, a video or project involving you both would be exceedingly cool
