    I don't understand why people would dislike this... All your videos are great. Thank you for doing them. I am always very proud of myself after successfully replicating one of your recipes. I am just a white American so never thought I could cook your kinda food; but I live with 2 Japanese people and 1 Vietnamese person and they always enjoy when I follow one of your recipes! Good to have approval from the one VN dude who has had the real stuff! (I think we got some pretty good stuff here in California though, but maybe thats because never been to Vietnam) :D

    Looks really yummy! But quail is hard to get here in Norway, so guess it's easier to go to Vietnam to get it, than try to cook it here lol. May I ask approximately where in Saigon this quail stand was? But there are probably plenty around? Thanks!

    Is margarine easier to find in Vietnam than butter? Cause I know over here people don't really eat margarine cause it's worse for you than butter.

    • @GazeRock123
      @GazeRock123 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** I think margarine actually has more trans fats xD.

    • @doodahgurlie
      @doodahgurlie 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      GazeRock123 Margarine is probably cheaper to buy than butter. I would say dairy products are not as easy to come by there as in Western countries, therefore margarine is more common.

    Hi Halen! I have tried cooking Butter Quails. But I don't remove all the organs. After my quails are cooked, they smell indeed good. But they are a bit bitter. How can I deal with this problem? Ha, I don't use honey and Five Spice Power. Instead, I use sugar and Curry Power! Waiting for your reply. :)

    • @HelenRecipes
      @HelenRecipes  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SPNDecepticons there is some organ inside the quail that is very bitter. That could be the reason for bitterness when you did not remove all organs

      Yes, it's the gallbladder, located under the liver. The bile inside it is bitter, so if it's not removed before cooking any animal or bird meat, it will make everything taste bitter.

    • @CologneCarter
      @CologneCarter 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LadyJacinta83 Different folks have different preferences in rotten food. The Swedish like their rotten herring, called surstroemming. The Chinese like their thousand year eggs and I love cheese like Stilton, Roquefort and Gorgonzola. ;)))

    • @doodahgurlie
      @doodahgurlie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ashley Harper Fresh dairy products are difficult to come by over in Vietnam. Milk, cheese, etc., aren't commonly used. That's why the famous Vietnamese iced coffee uses canned condensed milk. Besides, about 90% of the population is lactose intolerant. As the country progresses and grows, access to dairy products will be easier and cheaper and will most likely get incorporated into the Vietnamese diet.
