I know dudes with bone stock 1st gen SRT GC's that got as low as 13.1 in the 1/4 mile. This was a VERY impressive machine for the time. That SRT 6.1 is very underrated. I'd buy one today.
I have daily driven a 2010 for 6 years now. Definitely a head turner still to this day and it's 14 years old. The WK1 Srt8 is a classic. It's a dinosaur but people love dinosaurs. Especially in today's age of Electric. The 6.1 still lives on at my house. Lol
@@minipandora22 He wants us all to go electric in CA. Something better on gas isn't a bad idea here. 13 _ 15 sucks and gas was almost 7 dollars a gallon last summer.
This generation of Jeeps all had this crazy rake where the front end was too low to the ground and the rear looked like it was jacked up in the air. I think hurt the overall appearance of them, especially from the side.
I'm curious if there are any of these 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 still on the road or still being actively registered. Nice Vehicle but I get the feeling it wasn't made to last.
As if that's what you're paying for...people spend way more for range rovers, etc that have uneven 'hand stiched' upholstery, insane repair bills and crap reliability. reviewers like Chris Harris have owned cars like a certain late model ferrari only to note on camera that he stores the plastic trim pieces that have fallen off in a backseat cubby lol
This Jeep only aged well in the SRT8 trims. The rest of the models looked terrible, compared to this one. Right here, is a future classic and collectable.
This jeep do better than chevy starcroft school bus get a 6.1 miles per gallon. Go for this Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. keep Is premium fuel costs down for good. Get a 12 city of 15 highway is better than 6.1 miles per gallon. I love big engines ❤❤😊😊❤ ❤
I never liked this generation of Grand Cherokee. The design is generally ugly, especially the headlights. In general, it gave the impression of a cheap car. True, I have never been a fan of Chrysler)
Still looks great today
I agree, it aged very well. At least in the SRT8 trims. The other models look terrible. 😂
It's hard to believe it's almost been 20 freaking yrs! Where has all this time gone?
We lost 3 during covid
@@punemax good point yeah but what about the other 15 yrs 😂
I still can't afford that truck.
Speak for yourself. Those 3 years were good for me for the most part. @@punemax
@@oreally8605If you check Cargurus there are some for less than $10K, which is a steal for something like this.
The center exhaust is cool
I wish more vehicles nowadays had that feature.
The next version of this had regular left & right tips to allow it to tow.
I loved this back in the day. The center exhaust is a great look. Bad for towing but a great look.

Revisiting another high performance Cherokee. I still see a few of these. It's a beast on the street and that roar.
18 years later and those numbers are still impressive!

Love these. The 6.1 will always have good charm, plus it didn't suffer the valve spring issues of the 5.7 of this era.
Sweet! You should upload a video on it!
Such a great looking grand cherokee
Viper in the beginning looks like it could be a 2024 car has a timeless design…
Nice for a 2006. Considering what SUVs can do today. 😮
11 MPG is crazy 😂
Exactly. You will be at the gas station more than actually driving it. 😂
300 a week in CALIFORNIA ez.
Similar to my old Touareg which had a smaller 310hp V8 but more weight
What would J.Biden say ? ⛽️

Super underrated! Still looks good. Always loved the macho but equally understated styling. Who knew this thing would birth the Trackhawk!
Oops, someone forgot to edit out John's voice on the outro!
Probably the same someone the re uploaded this. Same video was out 7 months ago
@@zekeosborne9684oops. My bad
The grandad of the Trackhawk!
Actually that would be the 98 5.9 Limited!
I still want one of these even with the flaws it had😏
I had the 5.7 Hemi in mine. Nice vehicle.
This lion can really roar!
Who are they kidding? We all know "SRT" stands for STREET RACING TECHNOLOGY! That's where the "action" is and will always be!!!
These still cost $$$ if in mint condition and low miles....a beautiful monster Jeep
I would still take one of these if I found a clean, one owner, garaged and well maintained with maintenance records. Still looks good.
I specifically remember these not being able to tow because of the center mounted exhaust. Am I wrong?
If I remember correctly, U-Haul made a trailer hitch assembly that went under the exhaust pipes. I didn’t see many and they looked awful.
You're not wrong at all brother
I thought not too
Still got mine… 76k miles
3:10 Where would you put the trailer hitch for the 3500 lb tow rating?
Go drive it!
We need the 1998 Jeep grand Cherokee 5.9 límited Road trip retro review please
My dream Jeep ❤❤❤ hemi srt8 and awd ❤❤❤❤
Cams? There is only one
Beat me to it

I’m looking at one through my work with a ton of miles (175K) but it’d probably only be under 2 grand and seems totally worth it
Wait, why was it shifting like a manual in the first 0-60 section? A pause between shifts
Powertrain protection. Torque reduction during shifts.
I thought the same thing. I had to go back and confirm it was an auto.
That 44k as tested price is 68k in todays money😵
And that will barely buy an Overland 3.6 these days.
i still want this jeep in 2024
Sensacional amigão 😀😀🇺🇸 parabéns pelo vídeo
Puxa vida amigão que clássicos do automobilismo 🇺🇸👍🎤🎤🎤
Beast!!!😮
SRT all day!
Sweet looking jeep! I remember when these came out.
just in time
I still have my 09 with 90,000 kms now
I'm curious if there are any of these 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 still on the road or still being actively registered. Nice Vehicle but I get the feeling it wasn't made to last.
Still the most popular truck in Detroit right now this second !
Were these good? I remember seeing them and then they ALL dissapeared. Same with the magnums
It's ultimately a Dodge, it's not going to be around for long.
@@jeffreypaul9428 lol
Yes they were Great. All collector items now
Forgot how handsome this was. Front end definitely looks dated now.
Such a monster
If I had my way. He would not talk doing the 0 to 60 and 1/4 run.
How about that plastic fantastic interior? 😂
You can blame mercrap for that

The exterior:🔥🔥🔥
The interior: 🤢🤮🤮
This thing is still fast by today’s standards, but omg those Chrysler interiors back then were so cheap to look at.
🧐 indeed!
Anyone else realize this Retro Review has already been published by Motorweek before? 7 months ago
Check engine light is already on.
Remember when Chrysler had product to sell?
That check engine light symbol is huge 😅
Perfect jeep
I don't like Jeep at all but I'll admit this design aged well. Doesn't look 20 at all
This jeep was the very parent of that extremely mischievous Trackhawk today...that's causing all that ruckus!
And the grandparent was the 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited!
1:56 is that jeep a 6 speed manual? Lol 😅

Good job my sister.Eff is not for south Africans.its good for Malema and friends

Now only edgars drive them.
One of the first mall-crawlers.
Wouldn't want it in CALIFORNIA with the milage. I get a little better with my Plum Crazy Challenger R/T but not by much.
Why make a jeep that is too powerful and can't go off road, is that right?
Tow? Where? You remove the center exhaust? Lol
How can it tow ANYTHING…nonetheless 3500 lbs, with the center exit exhaust ? 🍿

I used to love these. Now, my model Y is faster, MPG-e is ten times this, and no exhaust gets in the way of towing lol😂
You tow with a model y? What's your range? 10 minutes?
11mpg lol
Interior in this is sooooooo cheap . These plastics are horrible .....
My gt500 eats these bricks alive.
If it didn't I'd be concerned
but it also cant tow, or go offroad, or run in the winter snow worth a damn.
Lol sure sunshine.
What year GT500 is it? Does it have the 5.4L, 5.8L, or 5.2L?
@putz173 you wouldn't want to offroad with it anyway
WHO would've thought where this was going to Lead to. (TRACKHAWK)😂
