  • Better late than never! A while back we fence a dog run (and chicken run). Instead of buying treated fence posts, we decided to head out into our wilderness back country and gather dry lodgepole pines and treat them using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method. Join us on this project as we fenced areas for our animals using a non-toxic, inexpensive method using the resources around us.

Whats the purpose of the huge fence in the background? Looks like treated wood posts? Or is that the chicken/goat run?

Oh good question, I should have mentioned that in the video. That’s our garden fence that we put in our first summer on the homestead. It is a huge garden space, and my Dad was so nice to gift us the lumber for that project!
