  • Fukada-san makes his first appearance on the channel, and we demonstrate TAU (Tokyo Aquascaping Union's) secret training technique - Speed Scaping. Learn how TAU uses this training to improve intuition, story telling, and design ability by forcing faster and more committed decision making. Learn how we use this technique to bring a novice aquascaper's skill to a higher level.
    Special thanks to Green Aqua for hosting us in Hungary, letting us scape in their gallery, and taking the footage for this short vid!

    Special thanks to Aqua Flora for sponsoring our trip to Europe.
    Thanks to my teacher Fukada-san for always being an incredible inspiration!

    That was a lot of fun, you're great not only in speed scaping but also in doing little improvements afterwards to an even more convincing layout.
    Much appreciated and good luck for your future works guys. Thank you both!

    Just started into this adventure. It feels like a mountain to climb. Learning how to scape, and fertilize. My tank is bare at the moment as I decide my next move. I have the lighting in place, CO2 is valved out.
    I actually appreciate this video because I like the idea of playing with the materials before it ever goes in the tank. Thank you.

      Actually when I got trained, it was on top of a small table at an aquarium store - not even sand, flat surface. “If you can secure hard scape without sand on a hard surface, you’ll have the skill to make anything you want!” Is what my trainer Shito-San said.

    I don't want to be mean but Takayuki Fukuda is just on another level, it's like a grand master vs a little kid.

    • @SteveScapesYT
      @SteveScapesYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, pretty insane to have fundamental skills that make the soon-to-be World Rank 2 look like a little kid. That said, looking back I think that's fair-- I was still lacking in comfort and confidence at the Green Aqua trip. Last year, even taking world rank 2, I did so with abilities still very immature/incomplete compared to Fukada-san or Josh or Siak, who are much longer veterans.There's a lot more room for me to easily improve dramatically, and I look forward to showing my seniors just how much I have since last year.

    Hello Steven, I saw the video with the tank you v made for green aqua and I am speechless.
    The atmosphere and the shadows of your tank are amazing .
    I really want to somehow copy this tank . I doubt that I can build that height with stones and substrate though. I couldn't understand all the techniques you used ..
    Congrats

    • @SteveScapesYT
      @SteveScapesYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Fred! Important thing is to secure the base-- using super glue+soft media (cigarette filters, etc.). Also, mentally challenge what you think is possible/comfortable.

    Great video! To increase the fun adding a little sense of urgency and stressfully speed, you should view this video increasing the speed at 1.5x. The music at this speed helps reinforce that.

    • @SteveScapesYT
      @SteveScapesYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds hilarious-- will have to try. I actually considered increasing speed in editing, but I thought for the purpose of demonstration I thought folks would value seeing it in real time. If they want to speed it up themselves though... nice

    I like how you guys sharing your knowledge. Because of you, I decided to buy my 1st 60x30x36 aquarium and build Ravine myself. But without CO2. Will Monte Carlo, Anubias, and Hairgrass work? Any suggestions? Amazonia 1 or 2? What sand to use to create a road in between the rocks? Budget ~400 euros.

      @@fazaribrahim4336 it's almost 3 months for mine. Moss grows very fast, Monte Carlo almost doesn't grow (luckily did a "sry start" method to grow it before filling the water), and Rotala I bought already big one. Doesn't grow too much too.

      I tried Gorilla Glue for the first time at Green Aqua. Worked great, but got to use an applicator like a BBQ stick instead of just squirting it on.

      Everything comes with practice Ivan! When I was first training with TAU, I struggled even to make something that seemed half-way organized in 5, 7, even 10 minutes. It blew my mind that all the veteran members could look at the material, make a snap decision about what to make with the given limitations, and make it a reality in 3, 2, even 1 minute and create a result that was easily readable. Blew my mind, but it showed me what's possible. I hope this clip also shows a lot of folks a new way to proceed in their own aquascaping journeys.
