    I'm so glad you mentioned the last tidbit about hitting the shot and then closing the gap, cause I always finished with my weight forward and was wondering how I was still hitting before the ball but I now realize it's cause I'm tricking myself cause I'm shifting after and not before the shot and I never would have realized!

      Yes we want to get to that line early in the down swing. Remember that the back swing can also play a role in helping you get there.

    Sorry, I’m a VERY new golfer so don’t understand many terms yet. When you say close the gap, between which two points are you referring please?

    This is great!! Years and years ago I watched Martin Hall before his TV show. He loves props too. He’d made a plywood version of your prop. Actually named it for a member of the club he taught at. Guy suffered from the same problem. Martin would tee the ball low in the track then have Ira(??) swing. Martin said he would “absolutely wallop” the board. I had scrap plywood so I made one. It really helped. Wood isn’t cheap anymore but anyone with any woodworking skills could probably make one under $10.

    Great video!
    A couple questions. When we close the gap we want to keep our head back right? Like it shouldn’t move as far towards the target as our hips?
    Also does this closing the gap also apply to driver? I know with driver the low point should be before the ball but I guess ball position solves this. So I would assume we still want to close the gap.

    Where can I purchase the impact towel you use? I do not see it available on your website

    When I try to close the gap I tend to move my head as well. Do you have any tips for closing the gap while keeping your head back? That is what I am working on right now.

    Got a beautiful looking swing there Piers. All the work you've done seems to have paid off.

    Had lesson in March and my goal was to compress ball better. The impact drill is all I did for entire lesson. One difference is pro changed my setup to have the forward shaft lean and also 60-40 weight. It has helped a lot in getting the ball to have the piercing ball flight and more distance. Not there yet as occasionally get a shank or slice to right as I'm way ahead of club with shift to left.

      Great to hear. Just have to make sure that you still complete the back swing.

    Where is the link to that towel?

    So, I recently started incorporating loose arms and wrists and firing the hips in the transition to get them slightly open at impact. The divot is now ahead of the ball. However, now I am taking deep divots and/or the club is actually digging in and getting stuck in the ground. I checked to see if I was too close to the ball and that doesn’t seem to be the problem. Any other suggestion?

      You are a little steep then Russ. Check your swing plane and make sure the ball isn't too far back.

    Is that not swaying instead of rotation your left hip?

  • @TIMSANDYSURF
    @TIMSANDYSURF ปีที่แล้ว +6

    When I try to get forward with more rotation I suffer from low left shots. So I get confused between getting open and coming from the inside.

      Golf is full of these little paradoxes. Like getting to your front foot and turning through while keeping your head behind the ball with the driver. Tough to do but rewarding if you accomplish it.

    • @meandmygolf.
      @meandmygolf.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this can be a tough combination. If the ball is going left then the face is pointing that way just remember that too.

      Yes, i have a similar problem and have to force my upper body not to lunge towards the target otherwise we are going left of mid wicket😂

    The problem is, everybody has heard this tip, tried it, and failed to hit it better. Now a tip that will actually help you not hit it fat: Stop swaying off the ball in your backswing. Focus on keeping your left hip (yes, the left hip) the same distance from the target throughout your backswing. You’ll cure your sway, rotate better automatically, and eliminate the fats without having to think about moving laterally in your downswing.

      @meandmygolf.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Dave, the back swing is such an important part in helping you get to he line too.

    #1 reason I duff my irons is I am a piece of crap and a loser!!!
