Yeah, its physically modeled, so no samples, and that was really 10 years ago very impressive, by the way, demos were quiet good, i was impressed by string quartet and Igor Stravinsky Rite of the spring. I think this plugin must be tweakable to get better sound. Nowadays we have better physical modeling like samplemodeling or audiomodeling, but this thing is free :)
you're doing this virtual instrument a disservice by just playing it 'as is' on a keyboard. If you check out the demo's you'll see that Synful Orchestra can actually sound really convincing even surpassing expensive orchestral libraries in expressive capabilities, but you have to make use of the controllers.
Interesting concept. I wonder why the demos on their actual website seem way, wayyyy more realistic than your walkthrough. Seems like they might be using something else, or be doing a crazy amount of editing and automation behind the scenes. Because as you demonstrated out of the box, many of these don't sound very realistic, giving old school sibelius midi vibes for sure. Lol.
Yeah I had a look at them and feel if you put alot of work into them you could make them sound good but when you have other options that are better out of the box and give you a better sound quicker its harder to recommend this anymore, or though I do feel physical modelling is the future of sampling, look at pianoteq! :) Thanks for the comment
@@Joe-blogcomposer Yep, it's old school physical modelling, so a lot of editing various midi controllers. I have used it a few times and you can get genuinely stunning results, if you take the time. As it is, that was more just an experiment with a different workflow and to see if it lived up to the hype it had back in the day. After that I went back to my more recent physical modelling instruments like Swam as well as sampled instruments, since they're more convenient. Although sometimes I think the sample library people are in some sort of conspiracy with the hard drive manufacturers:)
I downloaded and installed this several months ago. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, it did not work at all. No idea why. It didn't matter how many times I uninstalled and reinstalled it, no joy. A pity, but not vital.

Do you have Windows or Mac, and what DAW, can I ask?
@@klementus Windows 10, Cakewalk by Bandlab.
Thanks for the demo. Sounds are awful. Won't waste my time with this one.
Nice freebie but they sound too much like midi patches to me.
Agreed, with a lot of work you can make the sound good but out of the box no
The free BBC orchestra is really good.
Love that plug-in some of my first videos was comparing that with the standerd stuff you get in your DAW - I use BBCSO pro for my professional work
