In this quick video, we share how we can install insightface on windows as many people are having issues with it while using the new IPAdapter face nodes.

excellent - worked fine - had issue installing a new node and it messed comfyui up, so had to do a new one, imported the files and models, nodes etc to save time and tried node with use of insightface and got this problem, now is solved thanks to u! :)

I had to run it as administrator and change de name from "ComfyUi 2024" to "ComftUi_2024" for cd C:\Users\EICM\Desktop\ComfyUI 2024 marked error becouse of the separation of the wird and the year. After that it worked. Thank you!

that fixed my first problem where it was getting stuck on the "load insightface" box, but now its getting stuck on the "apply IDAdapter" box, saying "InsightFace must be provided for FaceID models" .... ? any tips?
Yup that is expected, you are probably using a faceid model in an IPAdapter node, but faceid models only work in IPAdapter FaceID nodes. You can check out my other IPAdapter video where I talked about which models to use for which node: th-cam.com/video/oYjEFHb--RA/w-d-xo.html

any idea how to run it on Runpod which uses Linux? there isn't a python_embedded folder and the .exe, only the ComfyUI directory.

Hi sorry I do not use a mac, you may want to refer to github.com/deepinsight/insightface/issues/2493 and see if the solutions work :)
Close ComfyUI while installing - otherwise you will get this error:
ERROR: Could not install packages due to an OSError: [WinError 5] Access is denied. Consider using the `--user` option or check the permissions.

I see, maybe can try this:
1. Under windows search, search 'Terminal'.
2. Right click on it, select 'Run as Administrator'.
3. type in 'cd D:
ew_ComfyUI_windows_portable_nvidia_cu121_or_cpu\ComfyUI_windows_portable'
4. type in the same command from the video.
Let me know if it works!

Hi, just to be sure the installation is successful, you could run this command if you are using windows (replace findstr with grep for linux):
.\python_embeded\python.exe -m pip list | findstr insightface
If there is an output like insightface 0.7.3, it means insightface has installed correctly and the error lies in either wrong model placement or using wrong python executable.

Hello, I think have seen others facing the same issue in the comments. Their case was that after checking, the python ver they are running from for ComfyUI is not 3.11.
I'm not sure on your case if its the same!
Thanks..mine did not work until I read the logs. I had to Add a PATH variable "...ComfyUI_windows_portable\python_embeded\Scripts" You saved me from frustration and pain!
