In ❤ with Ali Sethi's version. Apart from whatever has been already talked about, the slight echo effect in the recording gives a feeling of the song being played on a radio. Somehow that gives me a nostalgic feeling about the song.
I completely agree! It came at a time when sound quality was equal to how crisp the sound is, on the contrary this was amazing in how raw it was! true to the feeling it was trying to evoke
Saraiki is my native language, and I'm happy that someone finally talked about it. loved this video.
The girl has black dress and the guy has white. Again fits the metaphors. Sab mast full circle.
Right
Girl in the black dress is Ali Sethi's sister.
bro i'm saraiki and listening to this decoding makes my heart happy ❤️
The video does not finish here. She goes back to the hospital and the patient is the guy who she is seeing in the party, who is suffering from a disease and is her patient. You also missed an intricate detail that she sees herself in that world in the white dress.
Exactly i was also wondering how he miss those specially the last part 😢
Also that it ends with her still having that chappal in her foot... i.e... it was all in her head.. that's where the video ends
I have been watching this video since last 3-4 years... I am just amazed to find out new ways of interpretation every single time, Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis being one of those. Here are some of my findings:
(Time tags are obviously from the music video)
★ ( 1:44 ) From here you'll see a photo frame with a woman's body in the background, the body has no face or feet. This clearly states that in *his* (the central male character's) lifestyle women have come with their body, not the heart (not the Face).
★ The tori (okra) : Representative of the heart of the lover, represented by her sandals in this video.
Here ( 1:18 ) you can see that when she's getting down to explore *His kothra/his world* through stairs, she has her sandals on. But when (3:47) she's going back to *her kothra/her world* she leaves one of her sandals in the stair (as if she is going back to reality, but a bit of her heart is still left in the stairs that connects her world to his world.
★ ( 2:25 ) Here you can see that the person hands over his glass of wine to her. This glass is the representative of the Ego in Sigmund Freud's terms. So when she's at the extreme level of exploring her Id ( 3:27 ), she can't imagine anymore, the glass falls off and shatters - as if her Ego is overpowered by her Superego, and there is no place of Id here. So she goes back to *her reality* (Ego) through the stairs. Leaving one of her sandals in the stairs means that the Id is subdued, but not totally subsumed by Ego. Her pleasure seeking mind has still left a door open for exploring the pleasure sometime.
*This is a very humanly approach to love. When someone thinks of loving a person whom s/he will never get in her/his life due to the differences in classes, or anything else, the person tends to break the barrier of reality through imagination to explore a world which doesn't have the bounds of reality. When s/he emerges her/himself into the imagination, at one point of time the reality principle hits her/him hard. S/he goes back to reality with a sigh, but the love never dies.
This is a very interesting and underrated explanation. Good Work.
This comment is better than video.
I'm a Bangladeshi 20 years boy,and i love ali sethi's version the most.It's soo spiritual,
Love this song of Ali sethi's version. Being a saraiki, I understand every bit of this beautiful piece of art! ❤️
Initially I too thought ki *Tori* vegetable hain . But "Tori*ko sarson bhi kehte Punjabi main . Toh sarson ke plants ko log pehle pehle roof pe sukhane daalte the coz vast space hoti roof pe . So that wo crunchy si ho jayein aur baad main unpe stick mar mar ke seeds nikale jaein . I feel ye sarson wala Tori hai 😊
Being a saraki from Multan I must say you explained it really well. ❤
Bhai...from where are you....
Pls let me know about ur culture
You're joking, he thinks nappi means measure, it means catch, and he's confused between kaaliyaan and kallayaan !!!
Dude you're fucking underrated one day you'll be very popular very unique and helpful way which we r just searching all over the Internet
Baked right of your heart, loved this!
It's time
At times can you please explain meaning of Punjabi songs also... Listening a song after its lyrical meaning...it's another level of enjoyment then
also my favourite version....ali Sethi ❤
This is gem of a series
The most listened song in my playlist.
Thanks. Whish this video never ended
Ali Sethi nailed it ♥️
First time someone honestly tried to explain this masterpiece. 🙏
Another beautiful depiction of beautiful song. God bless you.
Very well explained. Thanks a ton for this.
Bade bhai mazaa aa gya.... Ye silsila bas chalte rehna chahiye🤍🤍
Baki decodes dekhe?
Sare dekh liye ha bhai ek hi baar me.....
Haha thank you Bhai
Subscribed. Incredible information served. Thank you
Very informative..thank you
You wanted feedback here it is- brilliant.
I never took a deep into the meaning of this song. Used to think that it is about cheating. You know .. "Chan Kittthan Guzari aahi raat ve? ...." But damn, it is much different from what I thought.
You can view it in that way. The girl here could be one stuck in an abusive relationship where she loves the guy way more than her self-respect and she would rather wait for him to come back than to rather leave him and be happy.
Ali sethi the best folk singer
The ali sethi version is so great it looks like it was the original
kaafi zayda informative and well articulated. bhai motivation pura bhej rahe hai, tum aise videos banate raho.
Haha, bohot sahi.. shukriya!
It's seriously beyond words. Will listen to Ali Sethi's version.
Too Gooooodddd!!!!!!

Probably You don't know how much I loved this video.❤️. I dont want to stop my work (realted to society) but want to know more about your choices of song. You gave me this delima. Long live. Do send you decoded videos to the politicians and Civil Society. 🌈
I was listening to Chan Kithhan today and thought how wonderful it would be if there was a deep dive into the origin, meaning, and renditions of the song. Lo and behold, I found this video. It was great, and you bet, I’ve subscribed! While I love the content, I truly hope this channel makes it big and gets singers to talk about the renditions as well. More power to this channel and the effort. I see a vision for appreciating, reviving, and bringing back our lost music and culture. I truly hope you make it big. ❤
If you don't, I will!
Great ❤❤❤❤❤❤

mast tha yar!
Glad!
very very impressive video👌👌
Thank you! Cheers!
i think when glass breaks, its not the illusion that breaks, but its the heirarchy. And through the slippers left behind, its as if the girl left her footprints/impact behind in stark opposite contrast to when she was hoping to blend in...
Exactly depiction
awesome !
3:54 Our fav version too is the Ali Sethi version, at one time it was like an anthem for me and my wife
Ohh.. yes.. he has done it so well ❤️
Interestingly the girl in the video is Ali Sethi sister Mira sethi
You are absolutely right! She is really good looking and sincere in her presence.
Wow🎉🎉🎉❤🥺💯😍🤩
Thanks Hardik!
Finally the wait is over,
Mazaa aayaaa❤

Ye video to samajseva hi hai. Loved the explanation.
Tremendous effort has been done to research for the details. Bravo 👏
I am glad you recognise it... thanks!!!
Maza a gaya ❤❤
This is a great initiative brother. It is important to decode songs and lyrics to understand and appreciate not just the art but also the effort of an artist. Also, it improves the experience of a listener deeper and helps in promoting languages (with that even the thought process).
Great insights on this one . Kudos and keep up the good word, brother.
Thank You Sumit for taking out your time to write this one. It will surely go a long way :)
Wow😮😮

Being a 90s kid mere liye Ali Sethi ka gaaya hua "Chan Kithan" hi asli hai.
Very nice bro!
Bro thank you i was just search it for long time
You are goat 🐐
Love from Odisha ❤
Ishq tamasha ka ost bhi yhi hai wo bhi bht acha hai
I think the ali sethi's chan kithan starting has some sort of similarity with the tune of bengali song "ami shunechi sedin tumi"
Dude!! You have done your research. This video has so many intricate details. Love your interpretation of the lyrics. Keep it up!!
Bohot Shukiya bhai!
My answer is also the same, nothing different, no difference
Unique new concept of TH-cam channel. Hope we hear more and more from yu.
Loved this decoding❤
Lemme tell you one funny thing i have seen comments of Chan Kitthan by Ayushman where people were saying its copy of Ali Sethi's song😂
Good content 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I saw a different interpretation to Ali's version. It's a class difference in love. As you said about the stork and the fish, she wanted to have all the glam and glitz that the guy could offer, however her conditions (and probably her love for the guy also) stopped her from pursuing him any further and she broke from the trance of the lavish life she wanted as soon as she realised it was not worth her comfortable mediocrity. Love often doesn't see status, however society does. Often love loses due to society's unbearable terms and conditions. That's what the point of the Gothic phase of this song tried to portray.
We would love a decode video of khabar-E-tahayyur-E-ishq
This is so subjective how we perceive the song the meaning and core of it. This is another beautiful depiction of this. I appreciate your way of thinking and your research learned a lot. For me and for many who have heard this song the best explanation of this song is in the comment section of this song on the official channel of Ali Sethi which is also so beautiful.
Bhhot ache se receive ho rahi he bro❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👌
Oh wow you made this all easy to understand🤩 I’m totally obsessed with this beautiful song❤ can’t stop listening to it.. Uff so beautiful version of Ali Sethi❤️ Thankyou so much for the decoding of this beautiful song🤩🤩
So happy you liked it so much anjali ❤️
I just loved how you explained the whole thing, this old folk music seems so interesting and rich with many perceptions! Loads of love and keep making such videos
Thank You! I am constantly looking for validation. The views don't match up but such comments really help.
Excellent! Wishes from Bangladesh!
❤️
Thanks for decoding this song for me. It is one my all time favorite Ali Sethi songs and I always wanted to get the layered meaning it had. Very well explained
Beautiful brother ❤
thank you again :)
Amazing work Bhai ❤
Thank you very much for narrating beautifully.
Ali sethi version is my fave❤
Actually great effort 👍👍
In Saraiki dohra, the first line is mostly meaningless and has nothing to do with the actual message. The first line is just used to rhyme with the second line. The actual message is in the second line. For example:
Kothray utay kothra mahiya, kothay sukdiyan toriyan (meaningless)
Kaliyan raatan jaag ke assan giryan teriyan dooriyan (actual message).
IT IS NOT MEANING LESS, BEING PUNJABI IT MAKES SENSE TO ME. IT IS PUNJABI BTW
@@GurpreetSekhon128it's saraiki, you feel it Punjabi because saraiki also has some origin from Punjabi.
By the way He is right that the first sentence is meaningless. If you had heard saraiki songs then you would know
@@tufailahmad9807 Mera its a dialect mere mere naan bolte the
That line means that on the house’s terrace there some toriyan (zucchinis) are drying.
They are not talking about the literal meaning 😂😂 of course he knows the word to word meaning and don't say it's Punjabi it's Saraiki. Even Ali Sethi sung it in Punjabi version etc by changing some words listen to atta ulla one's to listen to the original Saraiki version@@hlotellme9423
you keep decoding my favourite songs and make them even more beautiful to listen to
Thank you
Good job bhai. Really needed one such channel. Now on I'll be putting my musical decode requests in your comments. I hope you will fulfil some of those.
That will be my utmost endeavour
Hey, love your work. All of it. Nice to see someone perceiving true meanings out of such important form of arts. I'm not alone anymore.😅
I had a doubt while in the middle of the video, but towards the ends of the video, i realised that I don't remember that doubt, just so engrossing the video is
Also 2 mysteries dikhi mujhko,
Ali ki representation
And the eyes of the lady.🥺
Thankyou
